Yes indeed. As a side note, I used these 90-deg adaptors http://amzn.to/2yXp5Ba so the ports that were blocked are accessible. Should have got the left hand version really (for the hub to be right way up) but the build quality seems pretty good.

I bought the plugable budget hub in the first post and I am gifting someone 2 of these Moonlander 2s so they can mine scrypt coins

The several others I have coming for the 2 Eyeboot hubs I have coming will be used to mine other scrypt altcoins.

I read some negative remarks in this thread about why people buy these and thought I would share my thoughts in an effort to help those who have FUD opinions understand why these things are great in my opinion.

Simple Answer:- I can mine 100+MH scrypt with a bag full of these and only use at most 160 watts of power and I can dedicate some to one scrypt altcoin while others mine something completely different.

People right now are paying $600-$800 for A2 Terminators that mine 110MH and use ~1100w. People are paying $100-$200 for Gridseed miners that do 5.5MH and use ~100w.

So I have a few choices if I want to mine some worthless scrypt coin that I think will be worthwhile later...

An A2 terminator @1100watts that can only mine 1 coin at a time directly or a bag full of these USB miners that can mine several (seemingly) worthless scrypt coins (that might have some value someday) at once.

Is it a risk for me to invest in these with this plan? Yes. Is there mitigated risk in buying one or several of these? You bet. The Moonlanders resell (not that I'm interested in reselling the ones I have coming) for more than what they are being sold for but in my opinion these devices will have a lot of value for years to come as new scrypt coins emerge.

In Summary, "value" can have many meanings when it comes to this device and if it was "Junk" - I wouldn't be buying it.

Ok. I have three more in the post on top of the four I have connected now.  I think it's just a matter of speed & amps that each one draws in order to get all seven running.  From my post on page two if this thread I think (in theory) we have 1.71a to play with per port...

"If you were to split all 7 ports up equally and assuming 100% efficiency you could in theory draw about 1.71A per port."

What we could do with is accurate amp / speed table for these.

I'm aiming for 6, 2 more sticks in the post. Running at 720 at the moment, stable, 4MHs per stick. Can obviously go higher, sink temps at mid 60's... Will post what happens with 6!

No luck with the Anker 10 port. It ran 2 sticks flawlessly at 954mhz, but it can't do 3 at that speed, 900mhz is the best I can get out of it. Slower speeds it will run more, but that's not what I am looking for.

Modified Tripp-Lite 10 port hub

Here are some photos of my modified 10 port hub, wire soldered on power
tracks to top of caps solder points.
With the wire mod and 5vdc @ 10amp supply can get 5Mh per unit (Freq=876, D=1024)
This is the max I would set at as cooling becomes a issue and life cycle of chip maybe effected?
Any hub should work long as enough current can be supplied to each usb port to meet the miners demands.

I've got my eye on that one, thinking of giving it a try for a small project that I have in mind. I don't have any Moonlanders (yet), so I won't be able to test with them initially.

Holy crap!  I was not launching my miner with sudo!  That is probably it, cuz I could see the devices with lsusb.  Welp the devil is in the details.  I'll try that and report back.

If you see the tty devices then try running it with sudo.

I would check /var/log/messages for any messages and also look for /dev/tty* devices ?

Sipolar A-223.  What confuses me is that they work under Mich's provided minera image, but they don't work under raspian-stretch or ubuntu-mate.  I'll fire up bfgminer and it will return "no devices detected, waiting for devices."  I'm a little stumped.  I'm pretty sure I added the relevant dependencies, hopefully someone can provide a little insight.

I have the same setup, you going to try 5x ? Also what speeds you running ?

Are you using raspian stretch?  My moonlander are not being detected under stretch.

12V*10A, that is 120w right?  should easily run ~10 moonlander 2?  It says it can do up to 2.1A per port.  Seems like a good price for a hub that can handle 10.  Am I missing something(again)?

UPDATE:. This is still running plus I've now expanded it to use 4x moonlanders at 756 speed.  One is using a USB extension cable but seems to be ok. All getting around 4,492 kH/s from litecoinpool

How easy would it be to add data lines to all 10 USB ports instead of just the 4 in this hub?

Are you making an apples to oranges comparison maybe, focused on the amperage but not the voltage? That says the PS is 5V 4A, which is only 20W. Can't see that being anywhere near enough for 4 unless they are running at a very low frequency.
