Even if it's just 2%, we all know that Bitcoin has a lot of potential left to grow worldwide. Apparently it's just upto knowing about cryptocurrency with not knowing about it in depth, but as the time goes, I'm sure many would be interested in cryptocurrency and would like to invest.

Yeah this is true. The crypto currency attracts many people and there is still more potential for its growth in the future. Many people already started adopting it. So the market will increase in the years to come. Big chances for crypto world.

Where is my ring of blades...
2% of people who already have invested over $10,000, so presumably an even smaller percentage of people who have invested less than that or have no investments at all.

There is certainly the potential for a lot of new money, but I think we are looking at 10+ years until we get some semblance of widespread adoption.
Ten years in a bit long, I think we might see a bit more movement quicker than that, things seem to move quicker in todays tech age than they used to which only helps us in the long term.

I think he is talking about mass adoption not just adoption and movements. and I agree with that, it will take a long time (10 years sounds about right) before we reach maturity and see bitcoin mass adopted. other than that we will continue seeing adoption slowly take place as it has been in the past 9 years and price will continue to move upwards with it.

The 2% of US investors owning bitcoin in can be an eye opener because this shows that there are still a lot of room for bitcoin to grow. If the survey is done worldwide I am quite sure we will see that at least 70% of the total population still don't know what bitcoin is. If they get educated properly on bitcoin there is a huge chance of many of them investing on Bitcoin which might help the market to flourish.

Even that 2% is a huge amount and I am sure that the absolute number is well over one million. As the returns swell, this one million individuals will pump more and more money in to Bitcoin. Just imagine what will happen if all of them invest another $10,000 in to Bitcoin.

I think this number will grow upto 10% if SEC approves Bitcoin ETF in future. 2% of the American population owns Bitcoin means the USA and other developed countries need to know about Bitcoin and blockchain more and invest on them before it gets late. The more people joins the market, the more profit everyone can make.

2% are already a very good adoption number  and that only for people who already invested more than 10.000 USD  into the old stocks, bonds or mutual funds market.
A lot of the younger people have never invested into stock, but invested into crypto instead. And that group will keep rising in the years to come.

I think this an old statistics because by now there has been a huge number of people and big investors who have invested in BTC. Many people from there are also trying to manipulate the market. Hard to believe it's only 2 percent. Hopefully, the 26% will be also trying to make some investment on bitcoins and let others know how it works and benefits of using it.

The title of the thread is largely misleading it should have been '' 2% of investors in stocks in the US own bitcoin'' as against the current title. I don't see any big deal in the report just like if a study is carried out among crypto investors to know the number that still invest in stocks, I am sure that the number would be lower than the 2% recorded in the former research. Its alarming for people to blow survey reports out of proportion without taking time to understand what the study is all about, the targeted population and the variances attached to that study.

The point is, whatever works for any investor, should be carried out, if its crypto, its fine, if its stock you are open to, all well and good there is no point trying to establish a relationship between the two and looking for cross investors on the two options in other to wipe up sentiments that does not exist in the first place.

Upon statistics everyone tries to manipulate the market. Either for their own good or just to lure people away. Hopefully, some of them are trying to make some investment on bitcoins and let others know how it works and  benefits it's users.

I'm curious how many people represent those 2%?
100,000?One million? When organizations like Gallup post the poll results, they have to reveal the actual amount of people, not just the percentage.26% interested in crypto means a lot of potential, but this potential can also be wasted.Imagine if USA really bans crypto trading and mining(this is still an option). How many americans will be "intriqued" then?

But the real question is why so much less % of investors are into the bitcoin? We know that its almost a decade journey for the bitcoin and it should have been very very popular in the country like U.S.

I think people are scared of using the bitcoin in this country due to the fact that there is ban over ICO's, use of altcoins etc. However they do recognise bitcoin as taxed asset so it should not be problem for them.

So thinkable question is why tiny % of public and why not bigger audience is into the bitcoin.

If we know the reason then we can say surely there is going to be big money flooding into the crypto soon.

I will not suggest any blogger or blog site indivisually but would like to express my views regarding it. I prefer using google search to know about any recent matters about blockchain and study every source I can find. But I prefer Bitcointalks discussion, Reddit blogs, coindesk etc. I also would like to mention Steven Johnson for his excellent Blogging about Blockchain technology.

I think when we get the blockchain just a tad more user friendly we will have a mass migration over from Fiat/stocks to Bitcoin/altcoin.  I think the governments want this especially if they can co-opt this movement to replace the dying fiat system.

Given the US is a developed country, for it to have so little investors are a huge shock. Plus there are countries like Nigeria who are actively taking part in this market. Maybe the people are not literate enough in the US to know about this market, which is a shame.

Well, you are asking stock market investors. Don't believe that poll, not questioning the legitimacy of the poll here, but I don't believe a single word that these stock market investors say. They are known for deceiving people. In reality there are quite a lot of investors in bitcoin, they just don't want to admit it out in the real world for many reasons, one of them being they don't want to be embarrassed/ashamed because they are stock market investors.

Wait what? The article says the survey was conducted in May this year. Or were you referring to a similar survey?

But yeah, I'm kind of interested as to how much these serious investors actually have in Bitcoin, and what would make those who aren't interested to reconsider their stance. Bitcoin still has a huge untapped market for sure, but this survey doesn't paint a very pretty picture of how it is currently doing in the eyes of traditional investors. It just seems like we're stuck in a paradox where we need more adoption to drive more adoption.
They have a considerable amount invested, not more than what they have invested in stock, but a considerably bigger, bigger than a middle class investor. If my memory serves right, there were so many surveys on these, and all of them derived different results. I would also like to remind people on what happened last year. Jamie Dimon told people that bitcoin is garbage, its a bubble, but in reality, he spent a shitload on money buying it.
