To invest I first did some research: white paper, team, and the future of a project / coin.
But it is not easy to make a big profit in investing in altcoin because the risk of losses is huge.

more profit, more risk, all investment is gamble in some sense, do some research and the past experience may reduce the risk, but its still high

Hi,

I see a lot of gamblers..
I gamble with small money..
But I made MORE money with long terms.. (2014)

What kind of research do you do?
- do you read the White Paper?
- research the team
- product of not

Read the whitepaper is a must, Do a lot of research with the team, Try to analyze the popularity, how many hype by the project and i think that has reflected by the interest to join in the social grup to make a communication with the team. The clear milestones. that's all.

Well coins outside the top 20 (coinmarketcap) = Gamble, other than that you're investing controlled.

I think we are both gambler and investor, if you do not do some deep research about a project and you invest in, you are the gambler, otherwise, you are the investor.

I choose to be an investor, because the investor's asset value is still there and clear and not afraid of fraud or scam,

But if gambling then the money will automatically become hot money and will have a very big risk, if lost money will be lost all and it is a very harmful risk.

I was a gambler as long as I didn't recognize the great opportunities of cryptocurrencies. There are so many amazing projects around, those are worth to invest for to gain longterm profits and support great developments, business or charity. So I am now investor.

Although being a gambler and an investor are really two different bananas, there are several similarities. I don't gamble as in playing with my coins of fiat for that matter. But as an investor, I am also gambling with it because I am taking risks. Despite the risks involved, in trading for example, I still gamble with it.

Even before the project is established, there is a lot of things you can research to validate the idea. VCs investing in super early stage companies are not gamblers.

If you participate in ICOs, you're technically doing both.  Before the project is established, you're really just gambling on it and once the project proves itself, you're an investor.

It really is a combination of gambling and investing. I try to research as much as I can about the project and read what people are saying about it, before guessing a good entry point to buy in.

Im more of an Investor i guess, because i hold long-term. From the things above that you have written, than yes before investing I check how team is behaving in social media and what roadmap they have. Also how good the community is behind this project Smiley For example in such way i have found a great coin EquiTrader that was only 0.14 when i bought it.

I do a bit of both. Invest more time doing research for good coins like LISK and put more funds into it, but gamble with other coins like digibyte (with less funds). Don't go all in with one coin - although I wish I did with neo!

For trading, fundamentals have little to no value for me. For investing, I need to find out as much as I can. I do both, typically long term things have had a way better pay off in the end, just the road to get there is usually full of pain.

gambler is doing everything what they want based on their speculation and feelings,
investor is a man or woman investing their money into a project and before doing that most of them more likely have done a research before entering this phase,

so gambler and investor are totally different

That's very different between gamblers and investors. Gambling is purely speculative with no prediction market. It is playing with lucky and unlucky. The possibility theory or math. if you play dice there are six possibilities, 1-6 surface. 1/6. Just hope you are lucky you can 't make market , and profit analisys. In investing of ICOs, you can predict by reading the whitepaper and roadmap. If you are good and have analytical thinking you 'll make a lot of profit from your investment. That's not gambling, you have your own prediction, it is rational not lucky and unlucky.

For investments I always read white paper and research the team and product, and mostly hodl. If you don't do that then you're mostly speculating, which can also work in crypto but will likely be less valuable long term.
