The ultimate purpose of gambling is to win money, while entertainment is merely a feeling that comes after winning. Whether it’s betting, card games, or other forms of gambling, the core appeal lies in the possibility of gaining financial rewards through taking risks. People engage in gambling to pursue profit, and the sense of achievement and satisfaction from winning transforms into what is perceived as “entertainment.” Without the prospect of winning, the allure of gambling would diminish significantly. Therefore, entertainment is not the essence of gambling but rather an emotional expression and psychological gratification following success.

For me, a person who gambles for money has a higher chance of addiction than someone who comes just for enjoyment. I know no one wants to lose in gambling, but a gambler who comes just for enjoyment will not continue to play again and again until they win, they will stop gambling when the bets are no longer entertaining. In the case of the other person, they may continue gambling to recover their losses, and the chances of their addiction are greater.

Im not going to answer your question directly, but I gotta be real with you - Ive learned the hard way that gambling has some serious risks that people should think about before getting into it.

Believe me, Ive been there.  Im no stranger to losing money at casinos or on sports bets and  heck, Ive seen buddies and even family members lose big time to gambling.  It can get outta hand real fast and cause money headaches for many people.

Now Im not saying Ive sworn it off completely or nothing.  And Im not telling you that you cant give it a try if you want.  You gotta make your own choices on stuff like that.  But I definitely think people should know what they are getting into with gambling and how easy it is to lose a bunch of cash if you are not careful.

Ive seen what it can do to people who dont watch themselves.

If your goal in gambling is to make money, could that be the reason people often get addicted? Or on the other hand, if you’re just gambling for fun, does that mean you’re safe from addiction? What do you think?
If you are gambling for fun, or you gambling for the sake of money, all I will recommend is always set a budget, immediately you used up your budget, then it’s just better you stop gambling. Sometimes you might be thinking you are gambling for fun, but you might be after the money which you will be winning but you won’t know, so you might be addicted, but you will think you just having fun. I know some people that are addicted to gambling, but whenever I talk to them about their addiction, they do tell me they are not addicted to gambling, and they can stop gambling whenever they want.

For example gambling addiction is not about serious gambling, your perspective about gambling can easily create an addiction, meaning considering gambling as a source of income can lead to a great loss. Gambling for fun or money doesn’t really matter rather if a gambler can’t control their budget or urge when it comes to gambling it might result to addiction. Lose is a must when dealing with gambling activity so a gambler should be ready at anytime not in a situation when the gambler wants a win always although winning is more fun, the problem is gambling without a proper funds after lose they still intend to gamble seeking for a win forcefully probably they can’t resist.

Or on the other hand, if you’re just gambling for fun, does that mean you’re safe from addiction?
Out hundreds 100% of people that partake on gambling eighty five percent [85%] of people gamble to make money, why the remaining fifteen percent [15%] might gamble for fun...so it's obvious that what makes people to be addicted in the gambling is because they're inquisitive to make profit in the gambling and they're anxious to recover what they have lose in gambling...

Here’s what I thought, even if we say we gamble for fun, the reality is that most gamblers aim to win. So, If your goal is to win, then you need to take gambling seriously and be consistent in your approach to have a better chance of success.
It's obvious from my perspective that the essence of gamblers to participate in the gambling consistently is to make profit out of their participation in gambling,  theirs no one who gambles to lose, their obligations to gamble is to make wining, and that has been intension of every gambler

Chasing money is one of the reasons why someone gets caught up in addiction - they are too focused on making money from their gambling and do not think about the risk impact of what they are doing, and that leads them to become addicted to gambling. While for people who think that gambling is fun, it will be lower to become addicted because from the start they think that gambling is just entertainment, not something that can give them money continuously like a job, so they gamble without focusing on money and according to the limits they have set before.
Those who chase after profit don't just get addicted easily because they are after the money they want to win from the system, but they also get carried away by trying to get back what they lose while trying to profit from the bets they have placed.

That's what some people consider and refer to as revenge gambling, and the more they try to get back what they have lost, the more money they lose, and that makes recovery much harder, and they will get lost with the money money they lose, and that makes recovery much harder, and they will get lost trying to do the impossible unless a miracle and luck visit them.

The tricky part is when people say just gamble for fun. Does that mean gambling with the mindset that you’re okay with losing? It’s a bit confusing because gambling inherently involves risks, and no one really enjoys losing.  Undecided
Actually to be honest no one would be happy when they lose their money, whatever by it is buying something or playing gambling.
But in my case I always try to use gambling for fun, I am also not that kind of regular gambler I make bet on the sports games sometimes. And after a long time I am able to build up my mind set like that in gambling I will lose more than I win And in the middle I have to get the fun and also sometimes have the profit.

And that is also become a reason for making very small deposit on gambling site which will won't effect in my life.  And also trying to control my self on gambling to not being addicted to it.

I think one is not fully save from becoming addicted to gambling, regardless one gambles for fun or for money, to be honest, it is rather something about the amount of time and dedication who is willing to invest in gambling.
There will be people who could assure that gambling for fun
would make one immune to gambling addiction, but I don't think it is true, besides there is always the chance of one starting to gamble for money when initially was all about fun when one realizes how much money has been lost and the loss chasing starts to roll.

Gambling priorities is different from what makes us addicted to gambling, we can choose to gamble from now till tomorrow or even use any amount of money to gamble all because we can afford it, addiction is when we are not having control over the way of our personal behaviors, if we can control our emotions and behave well, then we are going to do more better than we are used to, but some gamblers cant just help the situation than to complicate with their behavioral attitudes in gambling.

Gambling for fun has a lot to do with approaching gambling with being less aggressive in dealings with gambling activities but when it comes to gambling with the motive of generating active income the level of aggressiveness will become much when compared to gambling for fun and that is the reason why some one can easily get addicted than someone that is gambling for fun. However, no one enjoys losing but the fact remains when you are gambling for fun you have more courage to accept defeat or loss. Gambling for fun is the best approach I will ever advise anyone because it gives certain level of peace of mind.

This is a very thoughtful discussion here. It's a true figure that we've mostly believed that gambling addiction is all about chasing the moolah meanwhile there're some persons that get themselves lost our of responsibilities due to the thrilling of satisfactions they fells on gambling.
Although addition of gambling for fun can easily be readjusted and taken into self control while chasing the moolah could be uncontrollable

If your goal in gambling is to make money, could that be the reason people often get addicted?
Yes. Because they are more likely to keep gambling for the money. Let’s say a poor people wins through gambling. Not only will he get addicted with gambling in itself, he will also keep wanting to gamble to have money.

Or on the other hand, if you’re just gambling for fun, does that mean you’re safe from addiction? What do you think?
No. Because they get so addicted with the feeling of winning that they start chasing it again and again. Which is understandable because the adrenaline and dopamine will definitely alter your brain chemistry. Even when you start losing you will continue just to chase that feeling of winning and that is what’s fun. However gambling for fun reduces your tendency to chase losses.

Why should it be difficult if the initial goal is indeed just to have fun, because basically the goal of having fun will not matter when experiencing an important defeat the goal to play has been achieved, If getting a profit it is just luck to prolong the game or bet. And what also needs to be noted is that the amount used is of course the minimum amount or that has been allocated for gambling, loss or profit will not be a problem.

But those who deviate from the original goal when gambling just for pleasure turns into a place to earn high profits, then that will be the beginning of addiction to occur. The gambler must also be disciplined and obey the rules that he has made himself, so that addiction can be avoided.

People who are addicted will not enjoy losing, they will continue to play the game until they win, and those who only aim to have fun will enjoy all the processes of the game even if they lose.

In my opinion, gambling is just for fun. What I experienced is that I only gamble in my spare time, especially on weekends after I am busy and tired of working from Monday to Friday, which sometimes I fill my time on the weekend to gamble by spending a little money. And the hope of winning is definitely there, but it will not be made an ambition because I believe that winning from gambling is luck and most importantly I can enjoy the game and feel the pleasure with the capital that I always provide which is only a few dollars even though it ends in defeat with money that can afford to lose, but sometimes I am also lucky. And the easiest way to distinguish gamblers for fun from gamblers for money who are at risk of addiction, is only judged by how often they gamble. Gambling that aims to make money does have the potential to gamble frequently or even excessively and which results in being uncontrollable, and gambling just for fun, maybe the activities I mentioned above could be included in gambling just for fun and besides that, only gamble when you have the desire to gamble with good overall conditions and also try your abilities and so on and all still expect victory and also play with full awareness but the hope of victory should not be made an ambition because it is a trap that makes you play uncontrollably because of ambition and emotion.

Yeah I gamble for fun, I'm focus with the match I want to bet and I would be happier to see I win instead of losing, but if I lose, it won't ruin my financial because I only bet small amount of money. I also not make more deposit or take a loan just because I want to recover my losses, I will let it go because I can earn money from my jobs.

So, I hope you're understand what I'm trying to say, win and lose is normal, but I will not be bankrupt if I lose. Wink

Gambling must be taken as an activity for fun never as a serious activity. It's important that one has complete control over his emotions while gambling, that's the only way you can also control the amount of money that is going into gambling. Winning is secondary thing and it should be considered as a bonus, primary thing is you must not get yourself addicted to it and start putting everything you have in gambling. In the end it will be the house who will be the winner, just give house as much as can afford to lose.

No one really enjoys losing but someone who is gambling more with the intention to have fun will easily accept a loss and will not feel depressed about it especially when they are gambling with the limits of their budget. People who are not gambling for fun, but gambling more with an intention to make money will definitely not be okay with losing money because that is not their plan even if the amount lost is a small amount of money. They may be more desperate to try to chase a loss, unlike someone gambling for fun more.
