I disagree with you on this OP. It is impossible for people facing hardship to put their hope on gamble that it can transform their situation. Inside they will worsen their conditions, and would not have anything to eat, since they will pay for their bet. It is advisable for people facing hardship not to see gambling as a means of earning profit, so that they don't end up spending the little that they have thinking that they can double it with gambling.

The chances of transforming someone facing hardship with gamble is very slim, and not good for us to put hope on gamble that it can bring wealth to us. Gamble takes more from you, than what it gives you.
I really support you on this man, hoping on gambling is termed irresponsible gambling, these have been likened to frustration and finally depression, especially when you have pressing needs to solve. gambling should be your last resort, if at all you should consider it as an option. It never gets better with relying on gambling, often we see the reverse as the case. I have had an experience during my university days when I tried this behavior to raise funds for one departmental dues. Guess what?, I even lost the little I had on me and walked away sorrowfully cursing my decision to engage initially.

Instead use the same time and strength to look for good jobs around, no matter how hard it may seem, it way much better than ever having to depend on gambling to come to your rescue.

4.Supporting Charitable Causes: Many gambling activities, such as charity poker tournaments or raffles, are organized to support various charitable causes. Participating in these events allows individuals to enjoy gambling
while also contributing to the betterment of society. Winning in such contexts not only brings joy to the individual but also benefits those in need, thereby spreading positivity within communities.

This mostly applied to government-backed gambling platforms. National lottery is a big example.

Still, the majority of casinos are owned by private entities.

Even though it's not new that there might be corrupt officials working in the dark behind government-backed platforms, I believe there are still good officials that true to their work, and the proceeds, for example, national lotteries, are helping to support the government to build infrastructures and national buildings, continuous support to poor, enhancing roads etc.

A that which you have stated OP is actually really the advantages of gambling which can actually be seen or acjived gambling but again benefiting any of these will have a lot to do with your approach to gambling especially when you gambling responsibly, you can be really sure you are definitely going to get one of these benefits, when it has to do with winning a life changing Amount, it's usually a thing of luck and probability as it doesn't happens all the time but then if you are lucky with such opportunity then just like stated, it will be life changing and you are definitely going to change your status if the funds is been used well enough and not been spent lavishly.

The socialization aspect of the gambling advantage is mostly with people who visits physical casinos because online theres only a few who has got a socialization chat space where gambler's can get to meet but then they are mostly anonymous in such chat space so it's usually common with physical casinos where you will get to see fellow gamblers and connect.

There are many gambling games that bring positivity in people's lives to be enjoyed by everyone together through entertainment but the right balance of these needs to be found. Not competitive games in which no one is harmed by losing and winning, just for fun they cheer each other on and improve communication. Poker is an all time favorite card game in which players compete individually and the winner is determined by their hand ranking poker can be played for fun.

It seems that what the OP said is inversely proportional to the reality that happens to most gamblers. Gambling is not the right tool that can help us overcome the financial problems we are experiencing. It would be a lie if gambling could solve someone's financial problems and change their situation. Although there are, it is only a small part. Because of the reality that occurs, instead of gambling being able to make you rich, this activity actually causes losses in the long term, and if not managed well, this activity could cause even more complicated financial problems.

And even though gambling is a means of getting entertainment and pleasure. And many people gather to just place bets and play gambling, so it can be used as a place to socialize and build relationships. But keep in mind, that quite a few people who are involved in gambling, their relationships are destroyed, whether family relationships or friendships. This can happen because a gambler's tendency is not to be able to control his emotions well, and many of them when gambling or betting are not able to accept the final result of the gambling or bet they make, so it ends in a feud.

What are your examples of how gambling has positively impacted your lives, and how do these instances contrast with the common negative perceptions surrounding gambling?

Other than the possibility of a chance to win a life-changing sum, the only thing I can see a positive side to is the games that take place in groups. I mean here in particular the communities of competitive gambling, where the game is always in the form of groups. Competitive gaming communities create a sense of belonging, where people who share the same passion for the game come together and encourage each other. Competitive win games offer a fun and competitive experience, encouraging enjoyment and excitement.
For example poker. Poker is a popular social game, where players gather around a table and interact with each other through betting and discussions about playing strategies. Players of different levels can learn from each other by sharing tips and strategies. Poker can be a fun and entertaining game, especially when played with friends.

Well I've had some fun nights playing poker with friends and it's definitely strengthened our friendships. Plus winning a little something at charity events feels great, knowing it's going to a good cause. But I've also seen how gambling can get out of hand for some people causing financial trouble or straining relationships. So while I've had some positive experiences, I know it's not all fun and games. It's about finding a balance and knowing when to stop which can be tough sometimes
It is always a two way affair when it's comes to the effect of gambling and almost everything I suppose that exists. There are so many times I have enjoyed while gambling with the boys and sometimes even with ma spouse at home but the big picture is to always know that there is a limitation to everything and that people can get off their boundaries if not properly checked so in as much as people always complain that gambling has done this and that to them, it has also in one way or other given them joy as well.

1. Bonding and Socialization
This is a good example. in my family gambling games has always been part of a celebration. It has become a great entertainment on our occasions and everyone enjoys it. I guess whats different from it compare a "normal" gambling is that you have a chance of winning something without risking anything.

How do you mean by having a chance of winning something and risking nothing? When it is about gambling, you must have to risk something before you win or get something from it. You will gamble your money first before you can have hope to win. Moreover, the bonding that comes in gambling is especially when you win then people want to associate with you notwithstanding if they were criticising you as addict. Of course failure has no followership but success has many that will begin singing of praise and worship. Same as in your family, I assume in the reason for such bonding and socialization is because of winning, if there are no winning and there are hard times through seeking for the winning, there won't be such bonding and in fact there will be criticism of money wasted and addiction Grin

While gambling can bring excitement and joy to some, it's essential to acknowledge its potential negative impacts and risks, such as addiction and financial loss.
Well that's a given thing and also, for sure we are all aware of this before engaging to gambling. But still we chose to continue our engagement with this activity with hopes of getting what's difficult to achieve, profit from gambling. Actually, the bigger the drive, the bigger the tendency that a gambler would be at risk of addiction. There are some people who desires to become rich due to luck. Financial loss on the other hand is of course with high tendency. Most of the time winning rate is 50-50 or even higher tendency of losing. Some gamblers do enjoy the experience of betting because of thrill but in most people's case, they desire of profit which is a normal expectation. To elaborate, if you are only after entertainment, there are other activities you could do but since involvement of money makes gambling different, it is not surprising that it is most of the time tbe biggest drive for gamblers.
1.Winning Life-Changing Prizes: For some individuals, a significant win in gambling can change their lives for the better. There are numerous stories of people winning large jackpots in lotteries or casinos, allowing them to
pay off debts, support their families, start businesses, or pursue lifelong dreams. These instances of financial windfalls can bring newfound stability, happiness, and opportunities into the lives of winners.
Gambling gives hope to some people because they believe that they somehow will be lucky one day and will win a life changing amounts. Some of these people cannot imagine them self being successful and getting a huge amount through other means, to them gambling is the only thing that has given them this opportunity to make millions from the little investment. although this is the wrong approach to gambling that these people possess but this idea has really helped some people to maintain believe that they will win big from gambling, some actually win, others are yet to win.
The idea I guess that there are people who are winning the jackpot, pushes many gamblers to still continue and disregard the risk and loss. The moment you win, that would cover the negative feelings caused by loss however, when will it come in favor of you? This is the risk people are betting of, basically.

I think we can also discuss the social aspect of gambling on how this can affect your relationships as a whole.

If you try to socialize with people, not only do you connect but you also have the opportunity to broaden your connections. There are people who gamble that are millionaires and have connections that can be quite relevant to your work. Not to mention, you meet different people with different financial capability that can somehow be advantageous in the long run.

While gambling can bring excitement and joy to some, it's essential to acknowledge its potential negative impacts and risks, such as addiction and financial loss.

I agree with you.

Yes, the points that OP raised are the possibilities that one can experience IF that person wins on his gambling games. This is heavily predicated on the fact that the person can win in gambling which is definitely a positive outcome for him. Be reminded, however, that gambling is all about the risks- you fight those odds and see to it that you may be able to conquer them in your favour.

As far as I know, gambling only leaves a bitter taste in one's mouth when greed is what you are about as a person, and if you can't resist the edge to keep playing after winning or losing several hands to save the little you have left..then for sure you will see the bad side of gambling, otherwise it does have its perks like what's listed in the OP and I have first hand experience  Cool

While gambling can bring excitement and joy to some, it's essential to acknowledge its potential negative impacts and risks, such as addiction and financial loss.
Very true my friend, and it should be noted that pretty  much everything we do in life has two sides of a coin which is why we should do things in moderation to avoid being reckless or consumed by greed!!

What are your examples of how gambling has positively impacted your lives, and how do these instances contrast with the common negative perceptions surrounding gambling?

People associate gambling with negative stuff because they get addicted so easily and it is indeed harmful when you overdo it. Drinking alcohol is also harmful to your body but you can get away with it for a long long time as long as you drink once a week or once a month or smth. Smoking is the same. You won't catch cancer just because you smoke a cig every month. If you do, smoking won't be the main cause. Now back to gambling, if you do it right, you might have fun and that's exactly how you should do it. If you are getting stressed while gambling then you must be doing it wrong. I see people going super mad while playing in real casinos, I have friends that go mad when their favorite team loses a game. It is all the same. If you are going to get angry when your favorite team loses a match, why watch it in the first place? Getting stressed and angry will shorten your life and that's the last thing you need.

What you say it is true that gambling can be posted and light into some people lives. But it is very rare and if you see its percentage is also very low.  And most of the people who gamble to get this jackpot are in very miserable condition.  There is a saying that covetousness is sin and sin is death. I have seen many people who won such prizes but could not keep any due to their greed or excessive gambling addiction.

5. Overcoming Adversity: In rare cases, gambling has served as a means for individuals to overcome adversity or hardship. Some people facing difficult circumstances have turned to gambling as a source of hope or
escapism. While this may not always lead to positive outcomes, there are instances where individuals have used gambling as a catalyst for personal transformation, resilience, and recovery.

I think you can only think about this when you are alone in your room and have lost a large amount of money. Does that also include overcoming adversity? So thinking about gambling in a positive direction is a little excessive but it doesn't cover it completely. Gambling still carries the risk of losing rather than gaining big profits which only applies to people with certain skills, but if you only rely on luck it won't be that easy to think of it as a positive thing. I won't be too concerned with points 1-4 because there are several situations and conditions that illustrate this. However, it comes back to the conclusion that you cannot avoid the effects of gambling or even control your mentality when you lose. Thinking to yourself in your room and then getting fed up with why you should keep betting if you clearly have already lost everything.

1. Bonding and Socialization: For many, gambling serves as a form of entertainment and socialization. Whether it's a friendly poker game among friends, a night out at the casino with loved ones, or participating in
community bingo events, gambling can foster bonds and create lasting memories. These social interactions can improve mental well-being, reduce stress, and strengthen relationships.

i agree that offline gambling can give gamblers access to socialize with other people who are at the gambling place. like a lottery place for example, there are dozens of people who play every day, and you will see how these people can gather in one place and talk to each other related to gambling or other topics. and not only there, other gambling places are like that too. gambling venues are a means for people to socialize and increase their networks.

The point about the potential for skill development in certain gambling games, like poker or blackjack, is interesting.  These games require strategic thinking and analysis, which can be mentally stimulating.  Imagine viewing these games as a test of skill rather than pure luck. However, it's important to acknowledge the distinction between professional gamblers and casual players.  Casual players are unlikely to develop these skills to a high enough level to consistently win.

The observation about charity gambling events is a valid one.  These events offer a way to combine entertainment with supporting a good cause.  Imagine enjoying a game while knowing your participation benefits a worthy organization. The counterpoint about potential tax breaks for businesses hosting charities is interesting.   While true, the focus should be on genuine interest in the cause, not just tax benefits.  Imagine participating in these events out of a desire to help, not just for potential tax advantages.

Stories of lottery winners escaping debt or starting dream businesses highlight the potential for financial windfalls.  Imagine a scenario where a lucky win creates opportunities for a better life. The emphasis on the low odds of winning and the risk of addiction are crucial considerations.  Focusing solely on the dream of a life-changing win ignores the reality of gambling's low success rate.  Imagine millions playing for a prize that only a few will ever claim.

The observation about the dangers of sudden wealth and the importance of financial literacy is insightful.  Many lottery winners squander their winnings due to poor money management.  Imagine a scenario where a windfall disappears quickly if not handled responsibly.

In reality, the exact opposite is happening. There are statistics about what happens to the lives of people who win large sums in gambling (lotteries and other easy money). In short, nothing good. All (almost) yesterday's millionaires end up in poverty. It would seem, how can this be? And it’s simple: easy and undeserved money (not earned through your own labor or intellectual abilities) + absolutely no ability to manage your own finances.

Also, in the background, asocialization arises due to the fact that these “lucky ones” become isolated in their own lives. They have no reason to go to work and earn money (progression of asocialization). This is precisely what leads them to collapse - the money they win ends sooner or later.

"Gambling can bring positivity and light into people's lives" -I have never heard anything more absurd to justify gambling (except for the fact that gambling is supposedly played for fun).

Family games and friendly gambling during celebrations can indeed be a fun way to bond and socialize. In this context, gambling is not about winning money or taking risks, but rather about enjoying each other’s company and having a good time together.
This type of gambling is different from the normal gambling you that most people indulge themselves in because it’s focused on the experience rather than the outcome. There’s no need to worry about losing money or getting addicted, which makes it a safe and enjoyable activity for everyone involved.
It's obvious that gambling has become a positive tradition in your family, and that’s something to cherish and Gambling should often be used for connection and celebration rather than a source of stress or addiction.
