As long as I didn't bet on the US election, I don't think there's any reason I can bet on these kinds of event. It's normal for some people to bet on those events because all they want is to just make the money out it but we are wired differently and I can not do such. I'd prefer betting steadily on sports game which is my favorite.

We all note that gambling is logic and not loyalty. Whenever getting my choice or betting against the team can be counterintuitive but its logical analysis can often lead to good results. The results from gambling should be comfortable to you, otherwise your mentality may go beyond your limits.
But it is more like an unethical war which is why i stay away from all these events. Also everything related to human life should never be available for betting. Betting on it and winning there will always feel bad to me.

would you bet on the guy that you don't like and you voted against because you know your candidate would lose? So keep your vote, but go for the $?
it's called keeping it professional. this happens almost in so many circumstances, and my decision is always the same simple one. wagger for who hass the better chances of winning even if you dont like him or the opppoent is your main man. in country football for insttance, if my country is playinmg against england or spain, i love my country and i would be graetefull that they win against those countries but when we are talking of the reality on ground, spain or england will comfortably win my national team, should i allow the emotion behind being a patriotic citizen make me choose my country? absolutely not.

if it is in an election where you have two candidate, one has a better vision than the other and you have seen that the other have a better chance of winning, for that analogy, it is better that i dont vote at all or i still vote for who my conscience aggrees with so regardless of the outcome of the elction, i am still certain that i did what is okay with me.

Nothing lasts forever
It really depends on the individuals preference doesn't it?
If the person is someone who wants to gamble and go for the money then they won't hesitate whether it's the person they voted for or not.
On the other hand, if the person is someone who would know that their candidate is not going to win then why would they place a bet at all knowing that they are gonna lose anyway ?

Since I am gambling for the money, it will be easier for me to place my bets on someone I don't like to win a presidential election than thinking about placing a bet that is all about deaths or harm to the human race.

How will I think of having my bets on, is it for a calamity to befall humans or not? When in the real sense, we should pray for peace and unity, not harm to happen to people in the whole world. It gives no single joy when we learn that a country is fighting against the other in a war. My quest for money hasn't reached the extent

It's not hypocritical, we are risking money, it's gambling, the goal is to make money, to be honest, I personally don't care what candidate A I support, if the chance for candidate B to win is great, I will of course choose money.
But don't get me wrong, gambling is still gambling, money talks, but when it comes to voting, of course I will choose the candidate I support, regardless of whether he wins or not, the point is that the money at stake must be able to get money.

Would you try to make money on this?
Of course, the example of betting from Polymarket is indeed bitter and a bad thing if that happens, but what can I say, we can't do anything to prevent that, but if it's a bet in gambling I will choose money, maybe if I win it It's like a nuclear weapon, North Korea vs. South Korea and so on, maybe I can help them from the funds I got from the gambling winnings, at least so.

War-related stuff I guess? Basically everything you just listed. I don't even have enough money to throw away for myself, let alone for bets like these. It also sounds kind of dumb? Since I'm betting in sports because of the fact that I know about it and the factors involved. Stuff like these? Even if we do assume that I'd be interested in betting, too much factors are involved for me to even start researching which side to bet on. I guess if you just want to gamble then just pick a side randomly really but again, when it comes to betting on events I usually do it on ones that I can somehow predict at least.

In no case, I will never bet on such events, because for me it is immoral, war and the use of nuclear weapons are terrible acts of humanity, which should not be allowed as events for betting. If I had such an opportunity, I would prohibit it at the legislative level, I understand when it comes to winning elections, let it be if it is interesting to people, but everything that concerns human lives should never be available for betting, so that no one would be tempted to bet on it and make money on it.

Of course, you can bet on any event. However, in case of a win, there will be no one to pay out some bets, since there will be no bookmaker, no players, no Internet. I'm talking about betting on a nuclear war. This is an extremely stupid bet. This is the place where the line should be drawn. But, in an effort to earn as much as possible, Polymarket accepts such bets.
What you are saying is in line with what I am thinking at the moment, because after all, the impact that from on war, including nuclear war, is very large and even as we know so far, radiation from nuclear will cause a very deadly effect, even electromagnetic waves emitted from nuclear bomb explosions will turn off every electronic equipment including internet access.
So when we are all preoccupied and Panicked by the effects of the nuclear bomb, then how do we take care of the bets we have made?

🇵🇭

Here are a few examples from Polymarket right now, from bad to worse:

Will a nuclear weapon detonate in 2024? $3,445,778 Vol

Would you try to make money on this?

The volume of money placed on this bets is massive and bizarre at the same time since these people is betting on events that will create big impact to our world especially the detonation of nuke. Imagine if your bets won while the world is already turn to dust due to nuclear war.

It’s nonsense to put on this event because it’s insensitive to people that affected of this turmoil. There’s a lot of betting options available especially on sports that will make me satisfied on betting instead of this one.

So hell no on this bets.

There are a lot of things to put a bet on, but not these.
I mean, why on earth would people choose to bet on these? It's pretty sick, considering how many people especially children are victims to these conflict. This is straight up disrespectful to me and I would never ever bet on this.
This is like betting on a deathmatch, who dies and who's not. Crazy people tends to think crazy ideas.

The reason why you gamble is to risk to earn a money and not about the personal perspective and carried away with your emotions. Now if money matters into you, for sure you will make a bet on the other party because you know there's a higher chance into it, but if you are in a pride for sure you will pick your all time favorite, the one you support. Personally I don't gamble related into politics because its has a lot of dirty tactics happen just to win.

I will bet who has the potential to win, and I will not bet even if I like or am a fan of it, and vice versa. True, it's all about the money, we have to get rid of the ego if we want to succeed in this kind of world.

Betting on impossible things will consume a lot of energy and money. Just avoid that because playing ordinary games is enough fun without the need to think much.

The great city of God 🔥
Any bet that involves human life I would never bet on it. For example the Hurricane that happened in Minton, we saw some site asking people to bet on the number of people they think died during that incidents and it was actually disgusting (I can’t recall the exact site).

As for those you included in your post, they also fall into the category of things I can never bet on - since their action will definitely lead to the lost of life.
I was actually thinking of that too. Human life is never to be gambled with.  Gambling on politics or election on who will win,  like that of Trump and kamala is understandable but gambling on a country supposedly to invade another for war is out of my boundaries. There was a similar thread some time ago that a man named Lieutenant Dan online says He plans to ride out category 5 Hurricane Milton in Tampa Bay Crazy Hurricane Milton and Helene Bets it is actually crazy seeing people betting at their own risk or betting on things that are irrelevant, why there are many good betting option in the casino.

If you want to feel a different betting? the answer yes.
But, making money from these unusual betting match/bet ? no.

The answer, can't be proven by statistic and other resource data. Basically, these kind of betting just for fun & lucky test cause you betting on the bet you don't even know. I bet all of these people who betting in these doesn't even know the situation.

So, my answer stick in NO.

I'm curious, what kind of bets are simply too much for you?

Would you try to make money on this?
Oh no.
This is very bad. Absolutely terrible.
At one point I have faith in humanity, at another point, it looks as if I am losing that faith. I am not over-reacting. What is wrong with us? Imagine a scenario where some people because of their vested interest in this would want to influence these events that they have predicted to happen so that they can cash out.

Anyone living in Isreal, Iran, North Korea, South Korea won't place these type of bets because they know the damage it will casue to them, their country, and family. They will be badly affected. Only people who don't live in these countries, people who are far away in a safe and stable region that would make this predictions because they are in a safe place.
Pathetic.

At this point the authories should regulate or shut it down. Let us go back or continue our regular gambling.

We recently had endless discussions about elections in the US, while most of it was just about politics and less about actually betting, it did spark an interesting question in my mind at that time, and that was, would you bet on the guy that you don't like and you voted against because you know your candidate would lose? So keep your vote, but go for the $?

At that time I abandoned the idea of creating such a topic cause the whole situation on the forum was already bad enough, tuning those topics into 4 chan material but with the current events and current "offers" on polymarket, from the Tyson match to actual war I'm curious, what kind of bets are simply too much for you?

Here are a few examples from Polymarket right now, from bad to worse:

Will Israel invade Syria in 2024? $408,982 Vol.
Another Israeli military action against Iran in 2024? $750,767 Vol.

I love the post and think its something people should speak more about honestly. Where do you draw the line? Or shall we say where hasn't there been a line drawn? Because surely with all these wild bets there are ones even more wild that haven't been drawn up and will need to be drawn up. In this day and age where there is a bet for just about anything surely there are some basic common cents bets that are easy to win with...

Personally, no lol. Honestly felt icky when i saw similar bets last I check polymarket. Though there were some dumb stuff that made me laugh too.

A little background about me is, I'm a person who stop --or at least try to-- reading news like this when it gets too much so I'm not gonna constantly expose myself to said bets for some bucks as it's just counterproductive for me.

And why would you avoid or try to avoid news about the current stuff going on in the world, specially if the countries involved have formal relations with your own home country? Is it because you do not feel interested on them or perhaps it is because they erode your mental health? because in the latter case, I have found many people who need to avoid news because they feel specially affected by it, and that is true when news are showing contrary results to what they would expect.

I still think it is a good chance to make money, of you keep a minimum of attention to things develop on the middle east and how aggressive both parties can get in the conflict. It is like sports, but unfortunately the life of thousands are at stake, that may be the less likeable aspect of betting on those markets in Polymarket...
