I can tell you that I know where you have been in. I am gambling free for 3 months and still in bitcoin in many ways. I can only tell you from experience that gambling is not for everyone and it's not for me. I played for 3 years and you are lucky that it was only 1btc+ that you lost. I believe for me, my makeup and design is to not gamble and takes me down the long deep dark path. The problem is I am just good enough to win a couple just to find out that I will lose it the very next split second. The motto of "only play with what you can stand to lose" is one in which those that gamble for entertainment only. Not everyone can do that.
I can drink alcohol like once a not touch the bottle for a couple of months. My gambling is not that way. Here is what I have done.
I have gone to friends and tell them your issue. You someone that will kick you in your ass if you mess up. These are the folks that have a general interest in your livelihood.
I took off all my podcasts, my poker forums, dissassociated with poker community, took out all my bookmarks and deleted all my gambling and anything related.
Get another hobby. I chose running for me. I have lost 25 pounds in 6 months and am so happy with myself. Just hitting the pavement for me is just plain fun for me and I win every single time. No loss in that. It is a +EV move in life is what I gain. Nothing else like it.
Find another community that you can get involved with that deals with bitcoin.
I am now associated with an awesome community,
http://grindabuck.com and I love it. I make some bitcoin that and share in that with others. There is a loyalty program and with our new site, we will have competitions and really further involve a great community aspect. You get paid for your online activity and you earn bitcoin a lot faster than any sort of satoshi earned faucet. The community is great and we are in the process of building a site to really expand on our community aspect and would love for you to be a part of it.
