Ok thnx for clearing that out.

So in the end I didn't exaggerate about the duration of forum being offline but I thought I might have because I was checking like every few minutes.

it lasted for 20 minutes to an hour.
I think it was down for about 15-20 minutes maybe.
It lasted ~28.5 minutes. That's the time between post 62351319 and post 62351320.

Today again the forum was down for some time.
I could not access the forum and then check through https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/bitcointalk.org and found this result.
Yep, same here, I think it was down for about 15-20 minutes maybe. Or maybe it seemed to me that it was down for that long as at one point I even got worried that something serious has happened.  Cheesy

My best guess at this point is that it was a random failure of some networking hardware. It doesn't look like any failure I've seen before, so it's difficult to diagnose. It doesn't particularly look like a DDoS or other attack, though I can't rule it out.

There won't be any downtime if/when I change anything regarding images.

This error came again, but it lasted for 20 minutes to an hour. This is the third time it has happened in less than a month

Many of us has faced this in past also like not able to access the forum with different cloudfare errors but the problem was on our end but this time forum was down for everyone for more then 3 hours but now everything is normal again which is good news for all of us.We should not be too worried about it like it doesn't seems like any DDOS attack but problem with forum server so relax now and post normally.
It's back to normal, but what worries me is that I couldn't access the forums for more than 3 hours today. Obviously this isn't the usual, I mean attacks like this have happened in the past but it doesn't take much time to get back to normal.

We don't have any information how long it takes to recover to normal every time the bitcointalk forum goes down for more than 1 hour, it's because the admin doesn't have active social media to let us know the announcements. If that exists, I think the concern among users can be allayed. Or let me know if I missed a lot today.

As of the time of this post, I am still receiving intermittent 504 errors from Cloudflare here and there.
Back to normal but it seems like Cloudfare is lagging  Grin

It was down for everyone for the last few hours. I used to visit the forum once in a while. I tried a few times and it was down all the time.
We have never seen such long down time. Maybe some internal work is ongoing, maybe the imgur issue as theymos was also looking for a solution.

When I was unable to access the site, I got a bit worried and thought it could have been any issue at my end. But later i checked on https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/bitcointalk.org and felt the sign of relief that it was a common issue faced by everyone (and not just me).

Also i don't think if it has anything to do with dealing with imgur images as if that was the case, theymos may have told us in advance that the forum may be down for some time for upgrades.

maybe the imgur issue as theymos was also looking for a solution.
That was what I was also thought of. theymos is looking for a way to solve that issue at once. I will prefer using the forum software to do that job so that things will be very easy for user to upload images. For the downtime of the forum website, this is making thrice I have experienced this. But this one is the longest one. When my friends where panicking by calling me I was telling them to calm down because I have seen it before. Definitely I know that it reopen. It was just for mean time. From the errors, my browser was good, device was good and it was only the website which is www.bitcointalk.org was having the error message. And for about three hours, the site just open. For those who have encountered it before were not shaking but for those first timers, they were like something else. We thank God for everything.

Yes, and I did take a nap and when I wake up, the site is still down, so I have to check if it is just me having this issue.

And so I go here,

https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/bitcointalk.org.html

Yeah as others have though, it could have been DDOS or simply Theymos is fixing something on his end.

It is the first time since 2017 that the server has stopped for all this time, and it is definitely not related to imgur or DDOS.
There was a problem with the server and we will report it soon.

I was afraid that the server was hacked because I use a useless recovery email, and I hope it is not hacked Cheesy.

For me it lasted more than 3 hours.

I was unable to access bitcointalk for last few hours and got this message of Gateway time-out with Error code 504

How come the forum unexpected downtime is too much ? Is everything OK ?
By the way this is the biggest downtime i experienced on here.

it's been down for me too for the last 3 hours and i check on Bitcointalk Twitter to check for any info but sadly i don't see any info regarding this down. but i only see a meme coin update.

Yeah it was a pretty long downtime.

Do we have some mirrors available somewhere in case of a longer downtime ?

By the way, 3 hours without the forum is not like a trauma, but it could be great to have some mirror urls in case of a long failure, or DDOS
Quite worried when the forum went downtime we became quite curious so that the internal problems could be resolved properly and now the forum is normal, and activities are smooth again.

I've never heard of forums having mirror links and one of the accesses is forums with this domain and nothing else, but actually, we often experience this kind of thing but today maybe that's what I've felt for a long time.

We thought it was an Imgur script issue but for real it's not. Cheesy

Everything is back to normal but this is the longest down ever because several times it happened it was only a matter of minutes and I was able to access the forum again properly, so I thought there was nothing to worry about maybe because it happened in the time zone where the forum administrator was sleeping so he didn't realize it would what's going on.

This also surprised me seing this and the next that comes to my mind was if there was an ongoing upgrades as regards the poll made on Theymos thread concerning the image, but honestly we are all excited and very happy to see the forum back again, i still believe all these was for good concerning one aspect being upgraded on the forum, we appreciate Theymos for kind and prompt administration of the forum in all aspects, he's really working hard in giving the best to the forum continuity.

These are things that can happen. That sometimes it just happens when we're sleeping, that it takes a little longer to resolve.

What matters is that everything is back to normal. Smiley
