anyone remember bubba?
Well I am like @Leo finally free from all things GAW, sold everything off got the price I wanted for the Primes and the rest were sold for change. I am now free and will never ever get involved with GAW again, not even if he sells unicorns being ■■■■■■ by a leprechaun.
congrats on getting free from the dungeon where Mr. Ganza kept you chained and fed you unicorn pellets
its sad how he could rope in so many intelligent people. and now they need to unload on the next generation of GAWlets. rince and repeat untill disaster hits
Well, let me put it in the perspective of one of those folks who was roped in.
I looked at GAW - they were a relatively successful company selling mining gear. They were a registered corporation, they had a physical place of business within the USA that I could go visit if I wanted - in fact Garza had a standing invite out to people to go and visit them. That's what lured me in. It wasn't some dude in Romania, it wasn't a random group of dudes in London, it wasn't a random datacenter in China. It was someone I could hop in my car, reach out and touch within 6 hours if need be. If they stole everything, I could walk into their local LEO or FBI branch and report the crime and get some traction.
That was appealing to me.
Sadly when everything started going nuts, I noticed the community was almost an exact replica of the community surrounding bitcoin-trader.biz. Echo chamber. Anyone who asked questions was kicked out. Folks who treated other people in the community like shit got made into mods (looking at that fucker rootdude). It was too eerie. Especially with info coming out about how GAW had essentially ripped off several municipalities after receiving several grants to perform work they never did. So I sold off everything after I hit a set number of hashpoints (I figured I would keep them around just in case it worked out as a hedge) and went my own way. Luckily I sold off about 60% of my XPY at $15. The rest at $2.
The thing that really sucks is the XPY that I sold at $15 went to pay off a quick btcjam loan for ltcgear, and all the stuff I had sold off from zencloud had been used to purchase shares in ltcgear. It'll pay off if Chris ever ends up being legit but right now... I dunno. Very doubtful.
So, at this point I have about 2.8 BTC left to my name from those last XPY, most of which is in hashnest now. Thankfully this is play money to me, so I can take some licks and be a bit riskier than I would be with my real investment money (so yeah, bad decisions, whatever, fortune favors the bold sometimes so I took some leaps of faith).
Long story short - you could have actually done your research on GAW if you got in early enough. The warning signals didn't start going off until maybe october/november when zencloud started tanking, especially if you weren't on bitcointalk.
