Digging into Uncle Stu's Facebook profile for (I think for me at least) the first time. Noticed that he is on the board of directors for this organization, which runs a youth camp for boys. I'm going to be letting them know that one of their board members is aiding/abetting a criminal enterprise.

for shits and giggles i called the GAW high-speed internet support phone number to see if i could get a human on the phone. i'm curious to see if his other companies are as shit as the others are. i let it stay on hold for just over an hour with support. i feel bad for the people that pay for their service.

at all stages of the automated system there are different voices and all sound like they have trouble reading their lines.

www.facebook.com/GAWHSI

he's so happy.

so he even ditched his other "company"? so, where's homero garza now? back in Dubai?

Wow, did he pawn the URL for his ISP company too? Dude is getting desperate.

I wonder if uncle Stu has got an opinion on the recent news of his best friend.

Rep had nothing to do with it, people being idiots and greedy had everything to do with it.

I hear a lot on this thread about being greedy, but there's a big difference between greed and desperation, between stupidity and hope. I recently got into a situation where my ability to gain $30,000 (on top of my normal salary) over the next couple of months will in many ways dictate the future of my family. I can see why people who are in situations like that and who have slim prospects for making the cash they need, put their trust in Paycoin. It's not because they thought it would work, but because they had a need, and Paycoin was their last, best long-shot hope.

I feel for people who have been taken by Garza because I don't think that most of them are greedy. I think they were in need and were out of options.

30k would be great. If someone says give me 6k today and I'll give you 30k tomorrow (which is what happened here. It came down to, "we will give you $20 per coin tomorrow) the only way you say yes to that is some sort of combo of greed and stupidity. Hope is buying a lotto ticket, greed is believing the guy who says he's going to give you 24k for no reason.

OFFTOPIC - BUT INTERESTING FOR JOSH GARZA BUFFS

I remember reading this story when it broke several years ago. Now there's a new book out about the 2 stoners who managed to win a $300 million arms contract from the US government. I see a lot of Josh Garza in the ringleader.

Those that got suckered into the Paycoin scam due to GAWs fraudulent cloud mining scheme are a different story.

This.

That money was lost long before the Paycoin (or Hashcoin) name was uttered. Anyone who bought "hosted" hardware or later "hashlets" basically donated the money to GAW. There was no revenue to support the payouts other than scalping 10% off market trades. Even "free" mining courtesy of Misssssiiiipppii Power likely wasn't profitable because it cost GAW a million or two to buy the S4s, which were later sold off at half price.

So really the only way to make money with GAW was to offload your bags to someone else. I wish those who boast about ROI would stop for a minute to think about that. E.g. what if EVERYONE was really really smart and didn't fall for the Paycoin scam and tried to cash out their "hashpoints" as soon as the conversion occurred?

As for greed, I think it's 50/50 with monumental stupidity, there is no sugarcoating that. See some of the waffle in this thread around mid-December, favelle, coldspirit et al.

Fuck that. People who expect a 500% return on an investment are GREEDY. Get over it. Those that got suckered into the Paycoin scam due to GAWs fraudulent cloud mining scheme are a different story.

Spending that money was an investment.

How many rubes saw that shitshow that was the Miami conference and piled more money into his pocket? Didn't a major part of the operation fail that weekend but idiots pointed to the private jet and bodyguards and spotlight as signs that everything was going to work out and a green light to hand more money over?

P.S: When exactly is the Hashtaker XPY repatriation to commence? Midnight UTC? Or will it be delayed as long as possible? Any idea how the 2FA lockout is going to affect how many people will be able to receive their Paycoins?

I'm still not sure they'll be released. For them to be released there would have to be some automated system set up to release them automatically, and i doubt anyone there is smart enough to have done that (definitely not smart enough to have it go off without a hitch) or whichever scumbag "stole" them from GAW has to release them manually, and why would they do that?

Hell, there's a major problem with the way the current staking was implemented.

Not going to specify because they might shut down the exploit if they realize, but there's a way to get paycoins that you weren't supposed to get.

do tell, do tell.  we could end this all right now!

True, although the worship of Garza was very personal, and often had nothing to do with Paycoin itself.

Yep. You can say that again. We should make a name for that blind Garza worship.

Interesting. Money is the universal world religion and therefore Bitcoin (and Paycoin) are sects.

People fell for XPY because Josh is a con man and conned everyone. Its not hard to do if you build a rep for being trustworthy.

Rep had nothing to do with it, people being idiots and greedy had everything to do with it.

Any rep he had was gone to people with functioning brains by the time they even came up with xpy because the "never obsolete" hashlets became obsolete.

Even if we disregard that, the "$4" to $20 plan never made a lick of sense. Anyone who thought about it for more than half a second knew it wouldn't work, because it couldn't work.
