Couple comments on the support writeup:

There's no mention in there of how to change the core voltage.
The core voltage range given (550-800mV) is incorrect. The bottom end is more like 620mV.
The suggested command line has a starting frequency of 200MHz, which is probably too fast for the stock setting for the stick as delivered and probably more power than a lot of beginner hubs are comfortable with.

@ klintay  will you be selling the 20 port 3.0 hub soon?
I may pick one up from you.

No plans at the moment, for eyeboot we only have the 19 port usb 3.0 hub still.

But we will be selling the 16 port usb 3.0 hub from Sipolar and a few of their other products so watch out for that
thanks for the tip

it is a good guide to setup  2pac sticks

A suggestion to improve the guide is add one question and answer after this one

Q: How can I set a different frequency for the 2Pac vs the Compac?
A: cgminer will accept the following parameters for the stick. --gekko-2pac-freq 150

add this to the guide.

Q I have some compac sticks running with my 2Pac sticks How do I set the freq for them.
A: cgminer will accept the following parameter for the stick --gekko-compac-freq 150

flinty has done business with me on 4 occasions :

He sold me 2 silver usb 2.0 19 port hubs
He sold me a 49 port hub and the hook up wires
He sold me a black 19 port usb 3.0 hub.  that I mine mt 1 compact and 1 2pac with .

Thank you both for your effort, it's very helpful to have a quick guide around.
Also thank you sidehack & MacEntyre for these cool toys.

Happy me, yay! Smiley

Just cutting off the red/black line back towards the hub will be sufficient.

The red is DC'ed.  I tied the neutrals together as.. a lot of my circuits in school tended to fail hard if all the -VE's were not tied to a common point.

I could Isolate them?  Think I should?

I've seen the same issue splicing power into extension cables.
It went away once I minimize the distance power has to travel physically on the cable to under an inch.

On a different note for others experimenting this way:
Make sure power isn't back-feeding through the other end of the cable, you want it going only one direction.

My compact 2's keep dropping out :S..

I have 4 compact 1's and 3 2's.  My 1's have been mining straight for some time the 2's though.. I can never seem to have more then 1 online for longer then 12 hours.. I have them driven from their own power supply.. a computer power supply each with 20A on the 5Vdc line so I really cannot see how it is current or voltage supply issues :S..  The miners are set at around 1.4 Vcore from the cap to gnd on the usb.  Any suggestions? I cut open a USB extension cable and connected the PS to the red and black for the power to each Pac 2.

Did you have all the dependencies in the build? I think you were missing something, is it ncurses that causes it? Something like that anyways.

I have 2 gekko USB sticks.  One is a Compac the second is a 2pac.
The compac output looks like this.

http://67.235.95.49/images/cgminer1a.png

That is what I want.  This image is of the output from the pac2.

http://67.235.95.49/images/cgminer2a.png

How do I get it to be formated like the compac?

I use it to test sticks during manufacture, about 15 at a time, and it works fine. I tested Compacs 25 at a time on it.

Well, not the internal-PSU version, the older one, but if anything the new one should work better.

I'm looking at the Eyeboot 49 port 5V USB 2.0 Hub 110-220v for purchase.  Does anyone have experience with such devices?  On such a device, how many 2pacs could I reasonably expect to run?  How many have members run?  Thanks in advance.

Are there any updates in this new version that affect stability or hashrate performance?

affecting hashrate, no.  stability, maybe.   there's some items upstream (merged) that targets specific problems.
also any new code change has a tiny chance of introducing stability negatively.

there's nothing urgent in this build that you need to rush to update.
so wait a few days or weeks or when you have some spare time, if everything is working for you now.
