The revolution will be monetized!
UPDATE:

Thanks for all the kind comments! I'm just trying to pay forward some of the good that has come my way via bitcoin. The contest is open to any person who gets to the cache first, however you may want to get moving. I did receive a PM from a user interested in going to the cache. I will of course update this thread if there is any news.

GEOCACHEAFRICA
Last year’s GEOCACHE ICELAND game was to draw attention to our beloved coin in a place shy about adoption. This year the contest continues in a new country on a new continent. I will update this post and this thread as events dictate. You have until the year 2019 to find this geocache and claim your prize of .1BTC . It’s just sitting there right now for anyone to pick up and in the coming days (weeks?) I will provide clues in this thread that will disclose the location of this paper wallet.
There are no rules, nothing to join, it’s not some kind of scheme. I am GIVING this money away as a stunt to draw attention to bitcoin’s potential in Africa. Anyone can play, you can even just take it anonymously if you want. Although I do offer an additional .001BTC for a picture and a tale of your adventure finding it.

So stay tuned! After trekking by 4-wheel drive for weeks, I’m a too strung out to post today and I still have to fund the wallet. But this week I will be posting more info and pictures.

Cheers,
RodeoX

This is a good way to promote bitcoin. Also this is so fun and exciting! I hope to win too😊

Hate to bump my own thread, but the money is still just sitting there.
You should advertise it in the local newspapers Smiley
I would be happy to go to a trip to the location but to get there and to get home would cost much more than the value of the bitcoins in the wallet (maybe if the price of bitcoin will rise again around $20.000 there would be more interest finding that wallet...)
Yes, not really profitable to do that.  Cheesy

However, I will not be moving this for a year. If the price goes to $40K the game is still on. It would be funny if the price did skyrocket and someone got a free vacation to Africa. But even if it goes to a million... So be it.

Yeah, back when it was $11,xxx I was debating on traveling there, I looked at tickets and it was going to cost me around $1,500 and I was thinking if it remains in the 11k range I'd go because the flight would cost me $400 out of pocket after finding the btc, and I could enjoy an African vacation on the cheap and make awesome memories because I'd definitely do a lot of exploring around different countries, but since it's fallen to the $6,xxx levels I don't think it's as feasible right now but still loving this idea and I do hope someone finds it and has an awesome story to tell!

Rodeo I do think it's people like you that are trying to keep the community active that will help bitcoin in the long run, I think what you're trying to do now is the equivalent of what Gavin did in the early days with the first faucet that gave out 5 btc for free, getting people into it and new interest Smiley

I would love to go to Africa, or for a fact, I would love to travel anywhere. Even with cheap flights now though, vacationing with a family is too expensive. I could probably make it alone, but then someone has to take care of my family as they are old and need daily care. I think it's fine that it can and should sit there until someone is willing to make the trip.

Perhaps as OP says, maybe it reaches a million and then I myself can even consider such a trip. Not so much about the prize money right now, but who knows, one day?

Thanks to Rodeo for this game, big hug to Franky for sharing! I received the prize, thank you very much!

And no, I did not need to use Google, Franky was as obvious as you could get... although of course I Googled the location right after, out of curiosity.

Mpamaegbu, don;t worry about digaran... he's just a full time professional troll. Scrape a little away and you find he's pretty much a Bitcoin nice guy, he just has a reputation to uphold. Which part of Africa are you in, are you close enough to Namibia to try and claim the prize?

i imagined a game that could work. ...
That's an awesome game. Perhaps if you are really brave you have to wear a private key QR.

I haven't been in Africa...
You haven't? ...
In fairness I should mention that I was somewhat ignorant about Africa in the past. It's just not in the news much, especially not the news about how much Africa has changed. So don't let the pictures of the San fool anyone. I had to 4wheel drive for days to find the last of the hunter gatherers. It much easier to find a coffee shop or a computer store.

P.S. Most people can't go to Namibia to pick this up. But, hint hint, you could befriend a Namibian on social media and team up or something. There are no rules here. It's a race to physically go there at this point.

ok i found the last clue. but i dot need the prize. so the first person to reply with the answer. rodeo can declare them the winner..

so here is my hint:
i was pondering where it could be and i was going to ask the community this, and the answer came to me through a google search
"Ok so on the subject of clue finding, is anyone jammy enough to work it out because im about to give up because its not in my nature to reserve/watch a topic that i cant answer"

first person to reply with the answer wins rodeo's prize
Your clue is way too obvious  :)
It just took 4 minutes for someone (must be the first person to see your post) to google search the clues.

It could be more exciting.

I haven't been in Africa...
You haven't? Yet you are feasting and belching on your ignorance? Come on dude. So, you stay in your livingroom or basement and pass judgment on a thing or place you don't even know? This is ludicrous, really. I don't mean to be rude but you now see that prejudice is a very wicked and misleading  hyperbolic vice.

Side note
I am an African and Africa is far ahead of whatever description the Western world has of it like RodeoX rightly pointed out. Trust me, you won't find humans with tails in Africa. We walk on two legs like humans in the Western countries and have some of the Nobel Laurents coming from Africa. Our only problem is bad leadership which is corruption itself.

i imagined a game that could work. instead of geocache... a game of TAG.. but more nerdy/techy much like a game of paintball/lasertag but using your phone instead as the weapon

imagine you wore a shirt with a QR code on it which was a private key to an address.. (the shirt is the target your enemy has to 'tag' with their phone to kill you out the game)
the group funds their shirt with a small amount.. and then all go out from your houses and try to find each other.. around the streets of a city
now they just have to run around find each other and shoot/tag(using their camera) to kill each other off

just an idea i had a couple years back
i got the idea when seeing people running around with water pistols or being asked to do pranks/challenges in the real world via messages handed to groups on social media
then seeing tv shows like hunted (evade being spotted for 30 days to win a jackpot)(kinda like hunger games but the enemy is the ex-mi5/nsa watching /chasing you with their surveillance tech)
and ofcourse the craze of pokemon go, where loads of new yorkers were running around central park trying to catch rare pokemon

Pretty cool competition to hold. I've read before about geocaching and some friends and I used to play something similar when we were young. Not using GPS coordinates just simple compass bearings though. I will confess I have no idea about Africa, I guess mostly stereotyped images. Namibia is a very old culture and I take it OP was visiting the nature reserve on a safari. I'm not sure anyone living outside there would venture in for the coins, but good luck to any Africans who live nearby. The signboard photo should be "easy" enough to spot.

Power to bitcoin on the continent!

With the inclusion of this photo this thread should have all the clues needed to find the cache.

Get googling! First person to post the location of this sign gets a prize.

UPDATE: It has been found. See page 1 of this thread for winners.

I think the high fence is a clue.  It looks like perhaps on the edge of wildlife preserve.

There is a software capable of finding the exact location of a picture, but unbanked Africans don't have that kind of technology. you guessed right, I haven't been in Africa. are there any wild animals near the location of this hidden treasure?
I did not know about that software. You should give it a try! There are no rules, you could team up with someone there maybe? About 30% of Namibians are on the Internet and that is growing very fast.
There are lots of wild animals near this location, but it's not a real threat. I camped out most nights and the locals will tell you that only the elephants are a concern. You would think the lions are frightening, but they ran toward them to get a better look. When they saw elephants they (we) ran away. Not what I expected.
In fact I thought Africa would be less developed and less safe than the USA. In the USA I carry a gun everywhere I go. In Namibia there is a lot less crime and a lot less people. I felt very safe unarmed camping in the bush.

🖤😏
I'm going to confidently guess that you have never been to Africa. Cannibals? LOL, come on man.  You know what's hot in Namibia? Country music, Anime, keeping a tidy lawn. Africa has radically changed in the last 30 years but America's knowledge of the region has not.
As far as the un-banked, they may well dominate bitcoin in coming years. Nobody has more to gain from the crypto revolution than the un-banked.
North America has peaked, Africa is ascending.

Here is another pic:
