Yes, last season Bayern Munich were really lucky, they were at the point of despair in defending their title because the championship match was in the hands of Dortmund, but as I said that they were really lucky in the end they could still defend the title because of the failure made by Dortmund in the decisive match at the end of the season. And yes this season they look different, there seems to be a slight decline in performance there and in addition there are newcomers whose performance cannot be doubted, namely Leverkusen as we know that they are very strong and have good consistency in maintaining the top of the standings.
Since this season began, to be honest, from the few matches they have passed I was really disappointed when I saw their defeat against Frankfurt with a landslide score and the latest was in yesterday's match against Werder, this is a defeat that is really hard to believe, even though in terms of statistics Bayern Munich is far above Werder, and this result also makes me and maybe some other people put doubts on Bayern Munich's next match against Union Berlin, however I think there is no reason for Tuchel to waste opportunities like this again because catching Leverkusen's points is the main goal if they still want to defend the title.
Bayern Munich have declined in performance not just in the league but generally and this already has caused a lots of worry for the fans. They’re not firing like they usually do and yes, they were behind last season but they won the title after Dortmund fell off at the last minutes. They better sit up cause they might not be as lucky as last season, cause Leverkusen don't look like a team that would give up anytime soon.
This season things are pretty looking different especially as Leverkusen aren’t seen on going or giving up anytime soon. They’ve maintained consistency and that alone rings a loud bell to Bayern Munich But you see Bayern falling to some defeats and you wonder if they’ll even be able to stop this formidable Leverkusen. Well the season is still pretty long and holds alot, let’s see how it goes for the team in general.
The Bundesliga is very interesting at the moment, where Leverkusen has directly threatened Bayern Munchen dominance by consistently being at the top of the standings, we have seen that they can stay at the top for a long time. For the second time, Bayern lost points, after they lost 5-1 to Frankfurt, Tuchel team now lost again for the second time to Bremen with a narrow score of 1-0, which unfortunately happened at the Allianz Arena. Losing these points means letting Leverkusen sit comfortably above them, and that is enough to threaten Bayern mission to extend their record to become champions again.
Xabi Alonso this season has succeeded in pressing Bayern in a very different way to what Dortmund has done. The opportunity to win the Bundesliga trophy is now even greater, because Bayern experienced a slight shock after receiving two defeats, but there is no guarantee that they will not be defeated in the following weeks. Bayern chance to retain the trophy is still very big, but it must be admitted that it will not be as easy as the previous season.
The second half of the season can be a nightmare for any team, because all contestants want to secure full points in every match, so they can finish in a more worthy place. The Bundesliga still has 16 matches remaining, anything is still very possible, but as you said, Leverkusen has not shown any signs of a decline in performance at all. However, the interesting fact going forward is that we will watch the second leg match between Leverkusen vs Bayern which will take place in Week 21, after the first half of the season the two played a draw.
