That's how I see it, yes. They are falling behind like they haven't been falling behind in a long time. However, I think it also has to do with the flawless season that Leverkusen is playing. If you have one club playing the perfect season, everyone else is looking worse for obvious reasons. But still this isn't just looking bad for Dortmund because Leverkusen is playing well. It is looking bad for Dortmund because they are playing crap. It is just bad. It is weak and they should have lost more games than they actually did because they sometimes got lucky, which makes it even worse given where they are at in the table. The weirdest thing is that they qualified for the round of 16 in the Champions League. I guess that is what saved Terzic the job until now.

@shogun47 I believe that they’ll need to dip in the January transfer window asap to save their season and the most logical buy would be is Sancho because they’re tailored for each other. Furthermore if they decide against buying or loaning player’s then their season will only get worse hence I hope that they can loosen their purse strings and immediately make some quick deals.

But I think history is helpful to look at here as it tells me that winter transfers don't work out that well very often. Clubs can get lucky of course and maybe a player like Sancho is a good idea as you suggested. Both know each other and I don't know what Manchester United's position is because of Sancho and whether they would loan him out. But the situation for Sancho is bad, Manchester United doesn't give him play time when ten Hag is the coach and Borussia Dortmund needs to solve a few problems rather sooner than later. Maybe this is one of those transfers in winter where I would say that this could play out well for all parties involved. But usually I am not a big fan of winter transfers other than filling some gaps.

At the break of the new year season, Leverkusen managed to become number 1. It seems that they are the main competitor of Bayern Munich for the championship. The league is off and resumes in 2 weeks. I read a rumor in the Indonesian media that Arsenal wants to buy a Munich defender. Arsenal want De Ligt to add strength to the defense. De Ligt was a regular choice last season and is starting to get left out.
Tuchell prefers Kim paired with Upamecano. This season he has started many games from the reserves. At 24 years old De Ligt is a potentially strong defender. Long-term progress is certainly an interesting option. But I'm not sure Munich will let him go. He is the best asset with his age and current condition.

It is a shame that De Ligt rarely gets the trust of the Munich coach, even though De Ligt's game determination is quite capable at domestic league and Champions League level.
He was played more in the second half by Tuchell. I think Arsenal will compete with Real Madrid to get De Ligt's services, considering that Madrid is currently being hit by a storm of center back players.
Sometimes, I don't think it's as a result of a players inability to play good football when he's called upon to represent his club that makes his club manager to bench them. I think it's something that has to do with the manager's preference for players in a certain position. Matthijs de Ligt is one defender that's capable of making it to the starting VI of any team in the world but it seems his kind of football is not preferred by his club manager Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel probably doesn't fancy the Dutchman because is the player's style of defending. However, there are rumors that Real Madrid and Arsenal are seriously in contention to sign him away from Bayern Munich and I hope he finally leaves in the January transfer window to a club he'll get more playing time so he can be fit to participate for his country in next summer's UEFA Euros tournament

I really liked Xabi's game intelligence even when he was a football player. It seems that he is also successful in managing. It could have been an important step in his career at Real Madrid, but they wanted to extend the contract with their successful coach Ancelotti. This must have been welcomed by Bayer Leverkusen because if Xabi had an offer, I think he would also want to go to Real Madrid.
But I would have loved if this deal had played out, No doubt, Ancelotti is a very good manager and have had an incredible achievement with Real Madrid football club, both during his first stay and present stay in Madrid, But seeing a new manager like Xabi, take up the job with a different tactics other than what we've known Madrid with under Ancelotti would have made sense, Maybe Xabi would bring a new glory to Madrid looking at his performance currently in Bayern Leverkusen.

For now, I think it would be unethical for us to discuss speculation about Xabi Alonso's future with Madrid because Madrid's future will still be handled by Ancelotti and a team as big as Bayern Munich certainly won't want to miss out on a great coach like Xabi Alonso (Xabi Alonso has really become a schick and has become an extraordinary striker, his selling price has increased).
Leverkusen succeeded in winning big 4-0 over Bochum and currently Leverkusen is 4 points ahead of Bayern and if Leverkusen's victory continues then we will see them succeed in becoming Bundesliga champions this season, Leverkusen's opponent next year is Augsburg, I'm sure they will also win easy in this match, leverkusen is truly unstoppable.

Ancelotti has been a great coach at Madrid and  has helped the team achieved so much already, he has been able to help the team achieve all that which he has achieved over a period of time because he has been at Madrid for More than two seasons already so they have gotten used to his style of coaching such that achieving a lot with him isn't difficult no more.

Xabi on the other hand in Leverkusen has been able to help the team achieve a better form within the period of time he has been at Leverkusen amd yet to achieve a trophy so I don't think moving to another team almost immediately is a good move, it could be detrimental to his career because so far the only thing he has achieved is helping Leverkusen get a better form and no trophy yet to show for it, I know they will say at Madrid it's very promising he will win trophies but have you considered the conditions at both places will not be the same as there are so many factors that will influence the quality of his results and as a young coach who's career is still at the start, he has to be careful to making sure he it doesn't get ruined even before it starts.

The season so far for Borrusia Dortmund doesn’t look so good for them despite their participation in the champions league competition which they are doing very well there. They have played 16 matches so far out of 17 matches of the first round of the league and they are still on fifth position with a point difference of six and their closer contender on fourth position. I still feel they still have time to turn the game around and I hope they can do that as early as possible at the second round of the competition. They have had a good record in the Bundesliga for years, and I think this year won’t be an exception for them to make it to the UCL next season, so no hope lost yet.

In general I think Dortmund's performance this season is poor and they should play much better. Nevertheless, the gap at the top is just as small as the gap at the bottom, because 6 points separate them from a Champions League place and that is absolutely possible to reach. But I don't think they will make it.

Dortmund is in the 5th position right now. The past few weeks have been pretty bad for them. In the last 5 matches, they have only 1 win. They have 3 draws and one loss other than that. That is definitely not good enough from them. Now if I were asked if they will be able to finish in the top four or not, I would probably say that it is possible, and maybe even probable. But the way they are performing right now, it doesn't seem like they will be able to have consistent performance in recent future. So I wouldn't be so confident about them as well.
It must be admitted that in the last few matches Dortmund has experienced a decline in performance so that they are currently in fifth place in the Bundesliga standings. Dortmund's recent bad situation is because the players are selfish, all of them play very disgustingly, you could even say they don't play as a team, this is Dortmund's weakness this season, they have been solid. Edin Terzic must realize this mistake and he must continue to improve so that he can compete for the top four because otherwise next season they will not be in the UCL League. Indeed, the league is still long but changes must still be made by Edin Terzic to be able to bring Dortmund back on track. as it should be.
Dortmund performance this season is quite different from the previous season because they are not very strong in the domestic league but they are quite strong in the Champions League. I think this is a pretty good turnaround for Dortmund because if they can progress further in the Champions League, of course they will be quite successful in the Champions League compared to their performance in the Bundesliga. But they still have to improve to get back into the top 4 rankings. When comparing the performance of Bayern Munich and Dortmund this season of course Dortmund is not able to compete with Bayern munich like they did in the previous season because Bayern Munich is very strong this season while Dortmund cannot maintain their best quality this season.

Leverkusen deserves to be called a strong challenger for Bayern Munich this season and if Bayern lose their best form then Leverkusen will easily become champions this season. Even though Leverkusen chances are still quite small, they are the most consistent team so far so that Xabi Alonso team is very much taken into account in winning the title this season. Bundesliga matches will start again on january 13 so there is plenty of time for Bundesliga teams to take advantage of the time to improve their quality when matches start again.

There is no doubt that Dortmund has the potential to re-enter the top four of the standings, a safe zone to appear again in the European Champions League competition. Looking a little further ahead, it looks like entering week 20, Dortmund will be back in the UCL zone. Because Stuttgart and Leipzig will face a tough match, if both teams lose points in two matches, then that will be enough for Edin Terzic squad to overtake their position in the standings.

It is true that this scenario only works when Dortmund can finish their own match by getting full points, by recruiting several new players this ambition is felt to be easier to realize. If they don't move actively in the transfer market, Dortmund must be prepared for all the risks, namely losing their place in the UCL zone when the season ends. Meanwhile, Laverkusen and Bayern Munchen are the two teams that have created a racing axis in fighting for the Bundesliga trophy.
Dortmund are one top team of the Bundesliga and I’m confident that they’ll surely get back into the top 4 standings of the league to head into the UCL. I think the opposition teams would falter and that’ll be a boost when Dortmund wins, one thing i like about them is that they don't joke with the top four in the Bundesliga, they'll always manage to do better and finish top 4 and i believe we'll still see them in the UCL tournament next season.

Dortmund are falling no doubt and we can see that they need some major signings especially in their midfield to help boost their chances else they’ll might struggling to maintain the top 4 spot even after entering there. We can see that after departure of Jude Bellingham they’ve struggled, i guess it’s time to recruit a youngster to step in and steer the midfield for the team like jude did while he was there.

Now it seems that we should stop linking Xabi with Madrid because either way this speculation will officially end especially after the direct confirmation that Ancellotti has signed a contract until 2026 then the speculation about Xabi is officially over.

But it does not mean that there are no other clubs that want Xabi's services actually because besides Madrid there are actually several names that have been linked with Xabi before.
Leverkusen's own attitude is still the same where they will not force to survive if Xabi wants to leave but with the current conditions and the increasingly good achievements for Xabi in the Bundesliga then after Madrid who will not be able to be associated with him then it would be better if indeed he stays as Leverkusen coach at least for the next few seasons.

Real Madrid was persuading for a chance to connect with Bayer Leverkusen new coach but it have turned out they wouldn't have to bother anymore. Every elite club should leave Xabi Alonso out of the picture, how can they manage to create possible strong connection with the manager knowing full well that he doesn't pick interest in any gigantic bids or link to any club  yet, he just want to concentrate on the big chances he needs to explore his positive outcomes in Bayer Leverkusen. Xabi Alonso appointment have made the club to become one of the top clubs in Bundesliga and they won't hold out on winning the league title.

As usual, Dortmund's performance in the first round of the season is often not what many fans expect. it could be that Terzic needs his players to adjust to achieve the system he wants. plus, achieving a strong bond and chemistry for the newcomers. currently Dortmund is in 5th place, Edin Terzic's squad has performed poorly in its last 4 matches in the Bundesliga without winning. as a result, they are 6 points adrift of RB Leipzig who are ranked 4th in the Bundesliga standings. referring to what you said, I can't answer it at this time. but usually, Dortmund will perform much better, especially after the second half of the season. yeah, we can refer to last season. Dortmund suddenly appeared impressive, even competing with Bayern Munich until the 34th week. well, this is proof that Dortmund can always exist so far and be able to finish in the top 4 of the Bundesliga. there's no other way, let's just follow developments in how Terzic takes his team in a better direction. especially at this time, Terzic has chosen several players who he relies on to be his starting eleven. plus, Terzic now only applies 2 patterns if I try to investigate. well, Dortmund should be able to take advantage after they play their match again. because in the future after Dortmund returns to playing, the team they are playing against will not be a team that is difficult to beat. btw, I still have enough confidence that Dortmund will eventually be able to finish in the top 4 of the Bundesliga.

I don't remember a team that had a season as surprising as Borussia Dortmund. Maybe Stuttgart may be providing this in a positive sense because they are better than expected, but in a negative sense I think one of the biggest surprises belongs to them. Borussia Dortmund are now far away from their goal of winning the league title. For the top four, they will have to beat Leipzig. If they play worse in a few games, I'm almost sure we won't see them in the UCL next year.

They are 6 points away from the club in the top 4 currently occupied by Leipzig. That's a pretty tiring distance to chase, but considering the number of matches remaining in the Bundesliha there are still a lot of points that are still very much in the chase. I think to be in the top 4 is still very doable, but I doubt if chasing the top of the table, because their point gap is now far away, and with the appearance of the club that occupies the top position, it looks like an impossible thing to do.
Indeed in football nothing is impossible, as long as there is still a chance as long as they still have a chance, but we also have to be realistic with what is happening at this time. Moreover, the ones they are chasing are also among the clubs that dominated the league for more than a decade.

The thing about Xabi Alonso is that he has done great at Leverkusen, which is why everyone highly regards him and he deserves all of that right now. But being the manager of a huge club is not easy, being expected to win nothing and do more than you should is a great feeling and makes you regarded highly, however being expected to win anyway, means that if you win then that was already expected, and if you lose that would be terrible.

Do imagine him getting the spot after Ancelotti, he would be managing Real Madrid, if he wins the league, that was already expected, Real is a team that should win the league anyway, and if he loses, second place is not uncommon, Barcelona does win time to time, but he would not be loved all that much, and at UCL he should try to win too, and if he loses anything but semi finals, then that would be terrible too. Expecting someone to do better than expected is easy when at Leverkusen, not so easy when the expectation is the title.
There were rumors about Xabi and Real Madrid being close, but now Real Madrid have extended their contract with Ancelotti and this is good news for Leverkusen as they have lost a rival to take Xabi away from them. Leverkusen will certainly keep Xabi, because he has given Leverkusen something extraordinary and to get a coach like him will be very difficult. At least they can breathe a sigh of relief with this news coming from Real Madrid and Ancelotti.

Of course, many people will feel relieved by this news, even Bayer Leverkusen also feel the same way because Xabi is no longer a target for Madrid. Ancloti is a coach who is very suitable for Real Madrid and Ancloti has also been an important part since he coached a big team like Real Madrid. He is able to works together well so it is only natural that Real Madrid extends his contract because Real Madrid wants to achieve brilliant achievement with Ancloti.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen certainly doesn't want to part with Xabi because they have been very comfortable with Xabi coaching so far, if it weren't for the strategy thats Xabi maybe Bayer Leverkusen wouldn't be as consistent as it is now.

Currently, this player cannot play regularly at Bayern Munich. De Ligt played great at Ajax but could not show his ability at Juventus. The Dutch player was then pushed to Bayern Munich, but he is also not being used by coach Thomas Tuchel. De Ligt needs to leave Bayern to play more often.
Arsenal's defense is still playing well with the duo of Saliba and Gabriel. However, when this duo is absent, they leave a massive hole for the defense. Arsenal sees De Ligt as an essential addition to the defense, thereby building a stronger squad. Joining Arsenal could open a new turning point for De Ligt's career.

In addition to De Ligt, Arsenal could target Borussia Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck and Ajax's 17-year-old midfielder Jorrel Hato. However, the transfer price for these people is not cheap. De Ligt will likely be priced accordingly.

After the New Year holiday, Dortmund will face three weak teams, they should be able to get 9 points to continue to maintain their chances of returning to the top four and securing a Champions League ticket.

I see that they only collected 27 points in 16 matches. I think this alone is a conclusion. They couldn't even average 2 points per game. They are far from the performances of previous years. I hope they will be in the top four this year.

Dortmund will probably not do all that well, they are expecting way too much from them and Dortmund has lost a lot of key players so it would not be possible for them to be that great. I think they are at rebuilding phase and we should just not expect anything great from them for a few years, it should not be all that possible.

I understand that it will not be simple and I understand that we are going to end up with Dortmund getting back to being good because it's a team with a rich culture and has a lot of money in the bank so it will be possible for them to get better, but it is not going to be all that easy. I think the best thing to do is wait a few years, they will definitely have some great players that will fight for the top again.
