They have failed to win any of their last 6 matches in all competitions which is very bad for a team that almost won the league last season although they have not lost many matches but they draw too much and it is the reason they don’t find themselves in the top 4. Dortmund are better than this and they need query themselves and do better because we all thought after a wonderful display and challenge for the title last season we would see a more determined team that will try and win the league again. They are far from winning the league but they can try and secure a spot in the top 4 to qualify for the next season champions league.
Currently Dortmund may seem like they are having a bad time with their performance so far and it's almost looking like they will not be able to make bit to the next UCL because even in the bundesliga they are literally struggling to get to top four which is one sure guarantee o securing a spot at the next UCL.

Still drawing with minimal losses is still a sigh of hope that they have still got some good chances of improvement, their next four fixtures doesn't seem like tough Ones which I personally see as an opportunity to be able to make up for the draw down they have had all this while so it's very possible they can get back if they are able to win all four games that a guaranteed 12 points which will definitely help them secure a spot at the top four positions on the table before the season ends so there's definitely still much hope for Dortmund if only they brace up at the time.

I don't remember a team that had a season as surprising as Borussia Dortmund. Maybe Stuttgart may be providing this in a positive sense because they are better than expected, but in a negative sense I think one of the biggest surprises belongs to them. Borussia Dortmund are now far away from their goal of winning the league title. For the top four, they will have to beat Leipzig. If they play worse in a few games, I'm almost sure we won't see them in the UCL next year.

Title race is not possible anymore for the dortmund with the current situation. Dortmund has a very big gap toward the leader of bundesliga right now. The thing that makes me doubt how can dortmund perform better in UCL rather than in bundesliga?
Is there an important factor that was also affecting the outcome of dortmund in UCL? It is still struggling in the bundesliga which makes me feel doubt about the dortmund. Terzic is having a very difficult task to be done.

I meant that if dortmund will fail to qualify for UCL next season and this is going to be another disaster for the club. Dortmund really needs to keep up with the top club in the league. I never thought dortmund would be success in UCL but it's failed in the league. Despite the fact that the bundesliga season is not yet over and we are currently in the middle of it, this is sufficient evidence to suggest that Dortmund is still struggling with inconsistency.

That is the biggest worry for Dortmund fans this season, that their beloved club is losing the potential to appear in the UCL next season. Regardless of their luck this season in getting through the UCL group phase, in the Bundesliga they should also be able to achieve the same good balance. A situation that is rarely experienced by Dortmund, because usually they appear consistent and compete closely in the hunt for trophies with Bayern Munchen, we can take an example like last season. Stuttgart and Leipzig will continue to try to assert their position in the top four, because they also want to experience the atmosphere of the UCL next season.

Dortmund have to do something, I mean looking for a solution in the transfer window if they want to appear consistently, using the existing players alone, which in my opinion is not enough to compete in the second half of the season. I think they don't really understand that this season Bundesliga competition is very different from previous seasons, if they hope something good will come without trying for it, then they will sleep for a long time this season just dreaming.
Dortmund are one top teams of the Bundesliga who usually are consistent in coming to the UCL. Yes they’ve been inconsistent this season after losing most of its key players but one sweet thing is that in that inconsistency, they manage to go through to the last 16 of the UCL, which is one thing i love about this team, they always manage their players and use what they got to go forward in the UCL.

Now they’re lurking away from UCL spot next season in their domestic league; with the likes of Stuggart and Liepzig a little above them. Well not a cause for too much worry because this Dortmund squad has the experience and can get back to UCL spot. But one thing the board and coach should try out is to recruit new players who would help this team look fierce else they’ll find it more difficult next season.

That close competition you are talking about ended without success for 11 years in a row and Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga title every single year. It sometimes looked close, but Dortmund never won it. Now it is beginning to get serious for Dortmund and they have four games now that are rather easy and should be won. If they don't at least get 10 points out of those four games, I doubt that this is going to end with the qualification for the Champions League this year. They have all the hard games towards the end of the second half of the season and I doubt that they will win a lot of those games against teams like Stuttgart, Bayern or Leverkusen.

In general I think Dortmund's performance this season is poor and they should play much better. Nevertheless, the gap at the top is just as small as the gap at the bottom, because 6 points separate them from a Champions League place and that is absolutely possible to reach. But I don't think they will make it.

maybe things will be better in 2024. because the dortmund coach will now have a good co-coach . assistant coach Edin Terzić will be Nuri Sahin from January 2024.
Nuri Sahin has been coach at Turkish club Antalyaspor since October 2021 . now he is to support Edin Terzić . and ex-professional Sven Bender is also part of the coaching staff at borussia dortmund with immediate effect . i am now curious to see if there will be better results for dortmund in january and february . otherwise the club will not qualify for the champions league . there are still a lot of points to be won in the next 18 games . but i think dortmund will be in 2nd-4th place at the end of the season

Dortmund is in the 5th position right now. The past few weeks have been pretty bad for them. In the last 5 matches, they have only 1 win. They have 3 draws and one loss other than that. That is definitely not good enough from them. Now if I were asked if they will be able to finish in the top four or not, I would probably say that it is possible, and maybe even probable. But the way they are performing right now, it doesn't seem like they will be able to have consistent performance in recent future. So I wouldn't be so confident about them as well.
It must be admitted that in the last few matches Dortmund has experienced a decline in performance so that they are currently in fifth place in the Bundesliga standings. Dortmund's recent bad situation is because the players are selfish, all of them play very disgustingly, you could even say they don't play as a team, this is Dortmund's weakness this season, they have been solid. Edin Terzic must realize this mistake and he must continue to improve so that he can compete for the top four because otherwise next season they will not be in the UCL League. Indeed, the league is still long but changes must still be made by Edin Terzic to be able to bring Dortmund back on track. as it should be.
There are still some situations that do make Dortmund experience problems in terms of performance in the Bundesliga but on the other hand, I realize that this is quite natural considering that at the beginning of the season the focus of the defenders did not really prioritize the Bundesliga as the first choice because their focus was still in the Champions League especially the situation was not favorable because they were in a hell group where anything could happen even though they were very good at the top of the standings and qualified as group winners.

Now with their qualification for the Round of 16 phase it is actually very good for Dortmund and at this time their schedule will not be too busy so I think they will try to prioritize the Bundesliga this time.
Actually, I still feel that Dortmund's scheme this season and last season is no different and now we just need to see whether their plan which is always the same every season will work well again or not.

Arsenal and Real Madrid might be good options for De Ligt considering that both teams are currently experiencing a central defender crisis and if there are offers from these two teams, De Ligt should be able to consider them. It will make him feel the passion for playing football again and will also make him at his peak performance.

I don't understand very well, if he moves to Madrid or Arsenal regarding the UCL. Can he play with a new club after playing with his old team in the UCL? I hope if he chooses Real Madrid then he can play. Because Madrid really need CB at the moment. De Ligt's experience in the UCL is very good, he is also young.  As for Arsenal, they already have a CB and a good defense. It is proven that they have only conceded 18 goals in the EPL and that is 2nd best after Liverpool conceding 16 goals.

It is a shame that De Ligt rarely gets the trust of the Munich coach, even though De Ligt's game determination is quite capable at domestic league and Champions League level.
He was played more in the second half by Tuchell. I think Arsenal will compete with Real Madrid to get De Ligt's services, considering that Madrid is currently being hit by a storm of center back players.
Every player have their prime and fading phase in football. There was a time Ajax players in previous season was outstanding in major competition, the UEFA Champions League precisely. Every elite club was trying harder to create connections with the players, some succeeded in leaving Ajax while some choose to stay. There's this Ajax young player that I admire his style of football, he's fierce and talented but today he's not having any good moments in football. Matthjis De Ligt is a good player and not included in the starting line-up for Bayern Munich games, does that make sense?

But I would have loved if this deal had played out, No doubt, Ancelotti is a very good manager and have had an incredible achievement with Real Madrid football club, both during his first stay and present stay in Madrid, But seeing a new manager like Xabi, take up the job with a different tactics other than what we've known Madrid with under Ancelotti would have made sense, Maybe Xabi would bring a new glory to Madrid looking at his performance currently in Bayern Leverkusen.
Ancelotti has been a great coach at Madrid and  has helped the team achieved so much already, he has been able to help the team achieve all that which he has achieved over a period of time because he has been at Madrid for More than two seasons already so they have gotten used to his style of coaching such that achieving a lot with him isn't difficult no more.

Xabi on the other hand in Leverkusen has been able to help the team achieve a better form within the period of time he has been at Leverkusen amd yet to achieve a trophy so I don't think moving to another team almost immediately is a good move, it could be detrimental to his career because so far the only thing he has achieved is helping Leverkusen get a better form and no trophy yet to show for it, I know they will say at Madrid it's very promising he will win trophies but have you considered the conditions at both places will not be the same as there are so many factors that will influence the quality of his results and as a young coach who's career is still at the start, he has to be careful to making sure he it doesn't get ruined even before it starts.
Of course Real Madrid prefers to extend the contract with Carlo Ancloti because they feel his coaching style is suitable and by extending Real Madrid there is no need to adapt again to a new coach, after all Real Madrid has become an important part of Carlo Ancloti because this coach prefers to extend his contract and refuses coaching the Brazilian national team. Xabi Alonso is a good coach but because Xabi Alonso does not have as much experience as Carlo Ancloti, Real Madrid prefers to keep their coach.

Yes, Xabi current weakness is that he cannot bring Leverkusen to the title, but if Xabi Alonso is able to bring Leverkusen to the title. Xabi will show that his talent is like that of an experienced coach, but in my opinion, Xabi is a very good coach because even though he is still young, his coaching style following developments and making Leverkusen a team that is currently feared like Bayern Munich.

At the break of the new year season, Leverkusen managed to become number 1. It seems that they are the main competitor of Bayern Munich for the championship. The league is off and resumes in 2 weeks. I read a rumor in the Indonesian media that Arsenal wants to buy a Munich defender. Arsenal want De Ligt to add strength to the defense. De Ligt was a regular choice last season and is starting to get left out.
Tuchell prefers Kim paired with Upamecano. This season he has started many games from the reserves. At 24 years old De Ligt is a potentially strong defender. Long-term progress is certainly an interesting option. But I'm not sure Munich will let him go. He is the best asset with his age and current condition.

After being successful with Ajax and Juventus, De Ligt seems to be experiencing a lack of playing minutes and at Bayern Munich he is now only a substitute. I think it is a shame that the talent he has is only a display on the bench and Thomas Tuchel seems reluctant to put his trust in him. If De Ligt wants more regular minutes then he should immediately leave and forget Bayern Munich because that is not good enough for the future of a player his age.

Arsenal and Real Madrid might be good options for De Ligt considering that both teams are currently experiencing a central defender crisis and if there are offers from these two teams, De Ligt should be able to consider them. That's how I see it, yes. They are falling behind like they haven't been falling behind in a long time. However, I think it also has to do with the flawless season that Leverkusen is playing. If you have one club playing the perfect season, everyone else is looking worse for obvious reasons. But still this isn't just looking bad for Dortmund because Leverkusen is playing well. It is looking bad for Dortmund because they are playing crap. It is just bad. It is weak and they should have lost more games than they actually did because they sometimes got lucky, which makes it even worse given where they are at in the table. The weirdest thing is that they qualified for the round of 16 in the Champions League. I guess that is what saved Terzic the job until now.

@shogun47 I believe that they’ll need to dip in the January transfer window asap to save their season and the most logical buy would be is Sancho because they’re tailored for each other. Furthermore if they decide against buying or loaning player’s then their season will only get worse hence I hope that they can loosen their purse strings and immediately make some quick deals.

But I think history is helpful to look at here as it tells me that winter transfers don't work out that well very often. Clubs can get lucky of course and maybe a player like Sancho is a good idea as you suggested. Both know each other and I don't know what Manchester United's position is because of Sancho and whether they would loan him out. But the situation for Sancho is bad, Manchester United doesn't give him play time when ten Hag is the coach and Borussia Dortmund needs to solve a few problems rather sooner than later. Maybe this is one of those transfers in winter where I would say that this could play out well for all parties involved. But usually I am not a big fan of winter transfers other than filling some gaps.

Sometimes, I don't think it's as a result of a players inability to play good football when he's called upon to represent his club that makes his club manager to bench them. I think it's something that has to do with the manager's preference for players in a certain position. Matthijs de Ligt is one defender that's capable of making it to the starting VI of any team in the world but it seems his kind of football is not preferred by his club manager Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel probably doesn't fancy the Dutchman because is the player's style of defending. However, there are rumors that Real Madrid and Arsenal are seriously in contention to sign him away from Bayern Munich and I hope he finally leaves in the January transfer window to a club he'll get more playing time so he can be fit to participate for his country in next summer's UEFA Euros tournament

I really liked Xabi's game intelligence even when he was a football player. It seems that he is also successful in managing. It could have been an important step in his career at Real Madrid, but they wanted to extend the contract with their successful coach Ancelotti. This must have been welcomed by Bayer Leverkusen because if Xabi had an offer, I think he would also want to go to Real Madrid.

For now, I think it would be unethical for us to discuss speculation about Xabi Alonso's future with Madrid because Madrid's future will still be handled by Ancelotti and a team as big as Bayern Munich certainly won't want to miss out on a great coach like Xabi Alonso (Xabi Alonso has really become a schick and has become an extraordinary striker, his selling price has increased).
Leverkusen succeeded in winning big 4-0 over Bochum and currently Leverkusen is 4 points ahead of Bayern and if Leverkusen's victory continues then we will see them succeed in becoming Bundesliga champions this season, Leverkusen's opponent next year is Augsburg, I'm sure they will also win easy in this match, leverkusen is truly unstoppable.

The season so far for Borrusia Dortmund doesn’t look so good for them despite their participation in the champions league competition which they are doing very well there. They have played 16 matches so far out of 17 matches of the first round of the league and they are still on fifth position with a point difference of six and their closer contender on fourth position. I still feel they still have time to turn the game around and I hope they can do that as early as possible at the second round of the competition. They have had a good record in the Bundesliga for years, and I think this year won’t be an exception for them to make it to the UCL next season, so no hope lost yet.

In general I think Dortmund's performance this season is poor and they should play much better. Nevertheless, the gap at the top is just as small as the gap at the bottom, because 6 points separate them from a Champions League place and that is absolutely possible to reach. Dortmund performance this season is quite different from the previous season because they are not very strong in the domestic league but they are quite strong in the Champions League. I think this is a pretty good turnaround for Dortmund because if they can progress further in the Champions League, of course they will be quite successful in the Champions League compared to their performance in the Bundesliga. But they still have to improve to get back into the top 4 rankings. When comparing the performance of Bayern Munich and Dortmund this season of course Dortmund is not able to compete with Bayern munich like they did in the previous season because Bayern Munich is very strong this season while Dortmund cannot maintain their best quality this season.

Leverkusen deserves to be called a strong challenger for Bayern Munich this season and if Bayern lose their best form then Leverkusen will easily become champions this season. Even though Leverkusen chances are still quite small, they are the most consistent team so far so that Xabi Alonso team is very much taken into account in winning the title this season. Bundesliga matches will start again on january 13 so there is plenty of time for Bundesliga teams to take advantage of the time to improve their quality when matches start again.

There is no doubt that Dortmund has the potential to re-enter the top four of the standings, a safe zone to appear again in the European Champions League competition. Looking a little further ahead, it looks like entering week 20, Dortmund will be back in the UCL zone. Because Stuttgart and Leipzig will face a tough match, if both teams lose points in two matches, then that will be enough for Edin Terzic squad to overtake their position in the standings.

It is true that this scenario only works when Dortmund can finish their own match by getting full points, by recruiting several new players this ambition is felt to be easier to realize. If they don't move actively in the transfer market, Dortmund must be prepared for all the risks, namely losing their place in the UCL zone when the season ends. Meanwhile, Laverkusen and Bayern Munchen are the two teams that have created a racing axis in fighting for the Bundesliga trophy.
Dortmund are one top team of the Bundesliga and I’m confident that they’ll surely get back into the top 4 standings of the league to head into the UCL. I think the opposition teams would falter and that’ll be a boost when Dortmund wins, one thing i like about them is that they don't joke with the top four in the Bundesliga, they'll always manage to do better and finish top 4 and i believe we'll still see them in the UCL tournament next season.

Dortmund are falling no doubt and we can see that they need some major signings especially in their midfield to help boost their chances else they’ll might struggling to maintain the top 4 spot even after entering there. We can see that after departure of Jude Bellingham they’ve struggled, i guess it’s time to recruit a youngster to step in and steer the midfield for the team like jude did while he was there.
