So many red flags.
Is it still a giveaway if they ask you for something before you can get it?
A site owner wants to do a giveaway and he's dropping a link for you to go to another site that is not his for the giveaway.
Who does a giveaway of over $139 million? That alone should make you ask a lot of questions.
If billionaires want to give back to the community, there are several charity projects they spend that money on that will benefit and impact more lives instead of just giving it away.

I'm going to blame Elon Musk for scams like this on X (twitter).
Since he took over the app, a lot of bots have thrived on the app and he seems to be doing nothing about it.
The moment you make a crypto-related tweet, your tweet will be attacked with several bots dropping links or commenting on the tweet.

This is not a new thing in crypto space, even videos are used to scam people using AI software to spawn popular actors or crypto developers like Vitalik and people still believe such things, it's sad to think about how many new investors are losing money to scammers online almost everyday, there is always a first time for everyone in everything and mine was not much different.

I remember falling victim to BTCdoublers in 2017 where someone I knew make deposit to the address and he was sent some extra Bitcoin, on seeing this I decide to give a try and I never get anything back, not even the amount I sent to the address, we are all a victim to something until we learn.

If you are a beginner reading through these replies, my advice for you is to always ask questions on this forum before making any financial steps, no matter how legit something looks to you, with thousands of users on here, they must have passed through what you called 'legit' before, maybe it's not what you believe it to be? It's part of why this forum exists.

Crypto giveaway or airdrop fraud is nothing new, there are always people who use someone's big name to trick their victims. And the victims targeted by fraudsters are those who have a greedy nature
Your position is absolutely correct. Giveaways or airdrops are 99% fraud, and the majority of scams are full of scammers. The work of these people is to abuse people by giving them money. And as you said in the giveaway, people often use the trick of big names and cheat by giving greed for money. Yes, of course, I myself have witnessed such incidents. Among my acquaintances, there are people who cheat people by tempting them with money in fake NFT giveaways. However, you should be aware to avoid such sacrifices. These people do not wish you well, that they will really give you money, etc. for free, but the purpose of these people is to rob you. It is obvious that greed for money is in the nature of every human being. Even if he gets a lot of money, he should not be so greedy that the scammer does not make you a part of his scam.

So the purpose of saying this is that these people are always trying to make you a part of their trap by trying hard everywhere. So keep yourself away from similar activities if someone gives you an offer of patience that if you invest so much, you will get so much in return. So don't do the same thing; it is not a return but a deception that they want to take away the little fund you have.

With the festive seasons coming in for most of the world, Halloween, Christmas and New year, people are at dearth of money in pockets added to it the number of sales that come in like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we are bound to see more people fall for such scams.

I guess the use of machine learning and social media is a good method to cook up such scam posts and spam them. Eventually we as humans need to use our brains to assess whether a post is a giveaway scam or not. Nothing comes in this world for free, so be alert.

Anyway happy Halloween peeps!

Those scammers would really use those festive since they want to catch the attention of people and think about there's ongoing promotion happen in their platform. This is why its important for us to know about such scams so that we would not fall from it.

Lucky to have online forums and other platforms that educate people regarding on those scams since its really helpful to many people regarding about how they could stay away from those unfortunate incident that could provably happened to them. We really need to use our brain with this since no one will give us fast cash for nothing and these scams use such word high profit to deceive people so we need to be aware on this schemes and stay away.

Also happy Halloween to you and everyone.

Only greedy people always fall for this type of fraud. Their greed immediately increased after finding out the size of the promised prize, even though some of them already had knowledge from other people's experiences. There is nothing real with methods like this, Thank you Op for sharing this news on the forum, I hope forum members are not tempted by offers of big prizes. Awareness must always be increased to prevent oneself and others from being tempted by big offers that don't make sense.
True but it's sad at the same time that newbies are also going to fall for this even if they're not greedy. Being innocent and thinking that these are legitimate giveaways, they might obliged to join those thinking they've found a jackpot. We can hope for the best for these newbies that they won't fall for these tricks because these scammers keeps on reinventing strategies that they can do from different social medias, messaging platforms and other websites wherein they know that newbies are scattered everywhere. They don't target those that are aware of the scam and oldies in the community, but most likely the new ones and those that haven't read about them and how they scam people.

This type of scamming method is so popular that almost everyone knows about it. If someone is a novice in the industry and greedy at the same time, they can fall for such a trap. It doesn't matter who posted the giveaway content people cross check the link before engaging with it. Usually most of the airdrop hunters follow one or two group and they wait for that group to post about the authenticity of the giveaways. To preserve their credibility airdrop group manager verifies these links before sharing them with their community.

 - ignore them
 - don't take to strangers that offer ROI in a short period of time
 - research is very important before investing

If the giveaway details are being shared from vitalik's or elons Twitter handle would you ignore them as well? Some will think the account is being hacked but many greedy members won't mind losing everything due to FOMO.

Giveaway scam had been on the rise for many years even before Bitcoin is created.  Malicious people do this kind of trick to boost their followers in social media platform.  Aside from that they also use this giveaway scam to collect KYC from unsuspected victim.  Others even inject malware to the victims gadget system in order to take control and steal their precious cryptocurrency when they click and download something or connect their wallet to the site.

So we should be very vigilant about this kind of giveaway especially when they are using established cryptocurrency as bait.  We should always check on the official site of the said cryptocurrency whether the giveaway is legit or not.  But best would be ignoring them as the earlier reply stated.  It is ok to miss some cent than to compromise our gadget system and lose all our cryptocurrencies.

The sad thing is that when the technology is developing, scammers will then use this as a medium for their evil plan (scamming). Honestly, we can't rid of them, they will even grow more and spread widely. That is why we should not trust anyone online especially when it talks about money and offering high and impossible rewards and investment returns because it is certainly a big lie and scam.

Hmm, such scams are really not new to the industry. I can remember there was a livestream doubler scam in which many newbies lost their funds just out of greed. At the same time most of the time, the popular Twitter handles are hacked to trap the greedy audience.

Simply what I want to say is that in every scam they use your emotions as a weapon, so learn to control your emotions and do proper research on why they are offering you such things, is there is marketing motto or just a lame giveaway trap to just obtain your useful data/funds.

To avoid any of the upset all you can do is prefer safety and its as simple as ABC... Always Be Careful.. Apply it on every step you are safe and good enough.

Giveaway scam is evolving everyday on different social medias, with cybercriminals coming up with great ideas. Which ideas, I think are no longer financed by human brains, but AI. Hence, they'll never run out of AI generated Ideas, on how to con cryptocurrency investors. I found a very real looking tweet of Elon Musk promising a party to users and a link under the tweet. Such tweet, when not looked into, one may think Elon tweeted it. Newbies should be careful of 4000BTC giveaways demanding for 1BTC to be eligible to win the giveaway. The scammers only play with people's fantasies. And when I thought their ideas, came to a halt. Chatgpt was birthed. Scammers took advantage of the AI, by asking it bad questions and earning ideas in return. Although the admins of OpenAI claim to be working on that, but new research shows that, even if the AI is trained not to give answers to questions regarding scam ideas, and terrorism in English, bad players can ask with alternative languages like Zulu. And the AI would respond using that language. Thereby increasing the rate of Giveaway scam ideas. So, newbies and everyone should stay careful of phishing emails, tweets etc promoting a giveaway. It's unlikely to get a genuine crypto giveaway. It's better to stay clear of it, as the few information required of you to join the giveaway can be used to sweep your cryptocurrency. Most of them are now equipped with AI generated Ideas, from what I understood from this article

As agreed because there are a lot of fake emails I have received, some months ago I had received some fake emails through the spam emails but now I don't know if the fake emails come through my primary page as well. I don't know how they are doing this, is my Email having a problem or they are using something else?

However newbie should be careful about this and they should know how to keep themselves safe from all of these sites and all of these emails which are harmful to their mobile devices and their Laptop, computers, etc. There are some software through which scammers get users' phones' privacy after they install them in their phones and they require some key for it to run smoothly.

Image from a crypto giveaway article by coinbase https://www.coinbase.com/blog/crypto-giveaway-scams-and-how-to-spot-them

with the presence of AI which can no longer be separated from humans, scammers deliberately use it to try to take advantage by deceiving many people, especially deceiving those who are still beginners in the world of crypto or who are truly greedy people. I've also read posts that mention influential people in the world holding bitcoin or ethereum giveaways but in reality it's not them who do that, they even use live streaming videos to attract more people who they want to deceive. remember, nothing is as easy as giving bitcoin or other altcoins nowadays, never trust any tricks they use, we all have to be careful with the tricks they use.

Crypto giveaway or airdrop fraud is nothing new, there are always people who use someone's big name to trick their victims. And the victims targeted by fraudsters are those who have a greedy nature, therefore fraudsters always offer promises of high income even though it is clearly impossible, for example, you say 4000BTC but we have to send 1BTC like this condition is unreasonable and clearly fraudulent.

I almost got caught in a Twitter scam myself. He invited his acquaintance, claiming to be Korean. In the end, they offer crypto for great rewards. We have to be careful like this, don't be easily tempted by the lure of wealth. Nor does anyone get rich by trying to get rich. There is no such thing

As the festive season is fast approaching, there are lots of scammers out there doing their very best to ache out money from people so as to sustain themselves this season. Just mid be this month, scammers came up with the Isreal/Palestinian war to scam people.  They take advantage of situations and happenings around the world to get at unsuspecting individuals who have no knowledge about their tricks and gimmicks.  Currently, scams are to much that one can not differentiate the fake from the original. It only takes knowledge and proper research to know if such is a potential scam and only those who take their time to do the findings can reveal the truth and expose such scam but people who do not think about it just fall victim of these scams and their funds gone.

Every one needs be careful this season because as it stands now scams are now beginning to look real if one does not do their own research properly. Scammers have Improvised their tactics and strategies coupled with the technology they use which one can not detect immediately if not by careful cross-examination.

Be at alert! Do not fall for scams!

Crypto giveaway scams aren't anything new nowadays. As you mentioned "Twitter" AKA "X", I'll tell you something that I was facing. Almost everyday I would get several notifications from twitter about giveaway. A is giving away 100BNB, B is giving away 5000USD etc. In every tweets they would ask for crypto address for the giveaways. Thousands of thousands of addresses are retweeted everyday. I don't know how they use those or how they targets their victim. I'm almost sure that, they are part of a scammer group.

I would have given the profile links, but unfortunately I deleted my twitter of today. Don't wanna use anymore. Have any of you noticed similar notification from twitter?

All information obtained from social media must be explored further before placing trust, especially when it comes to finances, there is a lot of false information that can lead to fraud that can lose all your money. Now blue tick badges can be purchased for any amount of money, anyone can be decorated with a blue tick badge on their account after depositing a certain amount of money on the Platform.
Buying a blue check badge is one of the strategies fraudsters use to convince potential victims of their trap. You need to be equipped with knowledge to prevent becoming a victim of fraudsters, let the giveaway pass you by rather than feeling regret after knowing the real facts.

With the use of social media, anything now can easily spread in the news feeds and some of the followers will rely on your information, but not all of the information is legit and authentic if you think the post is already suspicious better to prevent or unfollow those people because if they get easily baited with those scams surely its not healthy in your side too and also possible misclick might happen. As you can see on twitter anything can now change that platform even the blue check badge you can now just subscribe easily, if you lack of knowledge you will be caught with this kind of scam. Be observant before committing anything.

I think every newbie have almost the same mindset,  most newbies who are new to crypto thinks it is opportunity they can make money very quickly and this is a strategy scamners think they will be able to use to get newbies. Most newbies believe in having cryptocurrency for free by gaining it through airdrops and also give away and they fall for scams like this because they have no Idea about it and they rush into accepting this offers of free money. It is very important be very oriented by making research to know how scammers work and to understand that nothing is free, money, crypto are gained by work done .

Scams are a big problem now in the community, they'll take advantage of the new technology and use social media as a tool to scam innocent people. Until we all can't determine if it was a scam offer and still greedy, we can't stop scamming as well but instead, it will even grow and spread more. Even though we give awareness to the public but what we have seen, a growing number of people have fallen into scams we're growing as well. Meaning that people only just listen but have never put into their mind about scams.
