Hey ho!  Smiley
Can someone help me out with a lil guide to get my AMD-350 mining unter Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (or some other Distribution?! (it's my old HTPC, just like to see the hash! Grin))
I just don't get it...  Undecided Cheesy (is there a wallet for linux? No or?)

What do i need, which distribution, miner... ? Smiley
Help would be gentle! Thank you!

The linux wallet git is at https://github.com/GlobalBoost/GlobalBoost-Y.git

You don't need a wallet running on your machine in order to mine with the cpuminer-yescrypt, for clarification.  You can mine to any wallet address, EXCEPT online wallets/exchanges.  Due to the way newly mined coins are confirmed, you will have problems using exchange wallets, etc.  Wallet setup is pretty straight forward if you have ever installed a wallet like litecoin on ubuntu.  If not, here is a pretty good Litecoin Wallet Install guide.

To Install the Yescrypt CPU Miner on Ubuntu:

Install Build Dependencies for Debian, Ubuntu and other APT-based distros:
Code:
sudo apt-get install build-essential libcurl4-openssl-dev automake

Get the yescrypt cpu miner:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/CohibAA/cpuminer-yescrypt.git
Code:
cd cpuminer-yescrypt
Code:
./autogen.sh
Code:
./configure CFLAGS="-O3"
Code:
make

Run "./minerd --help" to see options.

To Connect to P2Pool using your GlobalBoost-Y Wallet Address:
Code:
./minerd --algo=yescrypt -o 54.68.63.254:7225 -u BSTYaddress -p x

Hope this helps.  Good luck.

Hey CohibAA,
Thanks for the pool! What are the chances you would be interested in setting a multi-pool for $BSTY? A place where I could point my GPU miner to mine another scrypt coin, and get paid in $BSTY? We really like this one: http://xpool.ca/  Let me know your thoughts!

No problem, I hope that BSTY p2pool sees some good use.

TBH, that is a bit outside of my skill set and time available to learn at the moment.  I would recommend maybe getting in touch with the guys from SimpleMulti.  They already do this for a lot of coins, so it might be easy for them to add BSTY.  If not, they provide their code as open-source, so it could certainly be done.

I am now hosting a 0.5% fee BSTY P2Pool node on the litecoin-p2pool server.

The new GlobalBoost-Y P2Pool Node Dashboard is Available at:

litecoin-p2pool.com:7225

No registration is required or available by nature of p2pool.

To join, simply point your miner to the litecoin-p2pool BSTY port (7225) as shown below, using your BSTY address as a username, with any password.  You must be using the yescrypt version of minerd!

Example minderd config for CPU yesscrypt mining:
Code:
minerd --algo=yescrypt -o litecoin-p2pool.com:7225 -u YJ5cJWGWeq2yJS549yzdR2asqyyvdAsN4C -p x

LOL. I AM sixstringsofire. Thats why I noticed the high hash rates, they're making my profit margin drop like crazy.

The top two hash-rates on suchpool.pw are from an "anonymous" user. 1 worker with ~288kh/s and another with ~286kh/s. To put this in perspective, I'm running around 120 computers (i5s fully loaded) and only getting 260 kh/s.

The way I see it there are two options:

1. This is the private GPU miner we've all been fearing.

-OR-

2. This is a botnet all reporting to the same worker.

Until the IPs are resolved, there is no way of knowing. Any thoughts?

I know that sixstringsofire is college students doing an experiment and mining Friday - Sunday.  The other 2 anon workers with the high hash are probably botnets, but who knows.  My theory on the GPU miner is, that someone that would be motivated enough to have develop the gpu miner config, would probably have a lot more hash coming towards the pool.  There are some strong parameters in Yescrypt to defend against GPU's.  Just my theory though.  Grin

I totally forgot about that.  You could point your hash to http://bsty.minerpools.com/ (they have 8 workers) or https://bsty.suprnova.cc/ (no one is there yet) that would help you get your  hashes get the value back.   Grin

Nice theory but in practice you can find a few guys... even on this own forum... able to write a miner but with limited hardware. Besides, it is relatively easy to spread the hashes to multiple pools if needed, a thing I would do if I had to GPU-port this algo.

Following for developments.

Hi cryptomecca,
Thanks for helping to secure the network! This has come up before, and I have responded with input from the GlobalBoost Brain Trust (see below).
Thanks again cryptomecca!
https://twitter.com/OldMajorPorter

Today I gathered the information from what I refer to as "The GlobalBoost Brain Trust." From here in the USA to Russia, Europe to South America, China to Africa we all weighed in on the amount of computing power on the network, the bumps, bugs, & successes of our 1st week, and the discussion that has been going on here & on the IRC: https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.kiwiirc.com/#GlobalBoost

I want to deliver a message:

GlobalBoost welcomes ASIC miners, but probably not now.

The GlobalBoost development department has chosen Yescrypt as our POW for this reason. A GPU may be able to mine this coin, but it will be the same rate as a CPU. The fact that we have people that are interested enough to string together many CPU's to one wallet is Good!! This shows that there is much the interest in the company, the mission, and GlobalBoost as Digital Money.

We have a dedicated team of developers, supporters, and many many shareholders working every hour of everyday. GlobalBoost is & always has been much more than just a currency. I invite you to signup (it's Free"), follow my link https://GlobalBoo.st/?Bruce

Here is the output for one of the servers I posted about the other day. The hash fluctuates between 3.6 and 4.2, I think it is in the 3's most of the time.  14 of 16 threads are being used right now.  Runs steady, not hot, i'm pretty happy.  I am going to try to have the second server up tomorrow, and point it to Suprnova.  I think this second box is the more powerful one, soon to see I hope.  Grin

Um..thats all?

I get 3.2-3.5 with a single Xeon E3 and 2.8-3 with a superold I7-920 o.O

yeah.  That is it for that server anyway.  This is the CPU details for the one running at MinerPools.com, http://ark.intel.com/products/40200/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5520-8M-Cache-2_26-GHz-5_86-GTs-Intel-QPI
