Gold obvously doesnt have such big dips like bitcoin but in the long run bitcoin will win

If only we could compromise and get like a gold or silver bitcoin  Grin

Coming soon.

cool, luv it, I can sell.. but I need to touch it before  ... kind of tangible stuff .. real ,,, I saw it Wink

There are a bunch of problems with the earlier efforts, that we are looking to overcome.  Some security, some protocol, some legal, and a few more...  The goal is to advance the state of the art rather than simply do what's been done before with gold.

that's interesting.  can u elaborate?  i own some of the earlier versions.

Plus, nothing has changed much in the big picture. We've had the usual pullback from an all time high in bitcoin while gold, and your beloved silver, hasn't gone anywhere.

Give it time.

Yes, this is feeling more and more like 2012, just with more scale: healing from really ugly scandals, but lots of core ecosystem building, important venture deals, and increasing developer/entrepreneur interest under-the-hood.

In short, nothing has fundamentally changed for the worse about bitcoin at any point in the last few years. The same does not hold for gold: something has come along that increasingly demonstrates a non-trivial chance of replacing it.

Oh stop acting like you're being persecuted. You and tvbcof deserve each other. It's all in fun.

Now that I can relate to.  God knows I've had my fun at your expense over the years.

Of all the gold bugs I've annoyed with this thread over the years,  you've been the most.

Now that's been fun.

I agree with this as well, but there is no point in saying gold is down and btc is up when clearly that is not the case.

I have been trading gold/silver since 2002 and btc since 2010. the thing i noticed in that time is that some times it is good to use btc to buy gold, and some times to use gold to buy btc.

btc does not always go up and gold does not always go down. to say that it does every week, esp in 2014 is just Huh well i dont know what it is. i 100% do not understand why it is being done. anyone with access to a 6 month chart of both btc and gold will know that it is just not true.

No offence, but it's always seemed to me that physical PM BTC manage mostly to join the worst aspects of both asset classes into one integral unit.  And at a healthy premium.  OTOH, they may very well have a value to collectors which ends up on the positive side.

once the paper market fails, all bets are up, and who (actually) has the gold makes the rules.

I'm always amazed at how clearly and efficiently Rickards communicates.  Generally speaking I've never known quite what to make of him, but I've got a lot out of his descriptions of economic principles and such over the years.

Especially regarding gold, the bankers have like 80% of the total supply in their vaults (latest addition: Ukraine gold reserves flown to the U.S. when the coup took control of the capital). It is hard not to control the market with such a share.

they control(led) the paper market. which shows signs of exhaustion:

oops further:

Gold was 1300 and BTC was 600 the last time you said gold was crashing.

Now gold is still at 1300 and BTC is at 450.

Why do you make these silly claims? Looking at a 3 day chart is just silly when everyone can see a 6 month chart.

I just don't get the point of this.

Indeed.  Someone should make a BTC price chart with a marker of every 'bitcoin up, gold collapsing' post of cypherdoc's.  And in 2014 to give the guy a little humility.

Cyph is a 'one trick pony'.  He's right sometimes and not others.  Anyone could do the same with a 50% chance of the same success.  I think it was you and I who talked openly about making a shift (temporary or otherwise) when a BTC was up in the $1000 range.  I was to lazy to do the PM part of things, and slowed down by what turned out to be some poor advice from my CPA.  I guess you were not.

Anyway, the people I have some respect for are those who's positions, and especially in shifts in those positions, result in demonstrable advantageous gain.
