Umm.. sorry to disturb, but:

why was it gold, that you are denominating bitcoin in? Why not silver, or stocks, or RE?
Did you read the thread title?

Yeah, I still think gold being down 6% percent isn't really collapsing, but hey, bitcoin being UP is quite the understatement  Grin

It is a lot easier, cheaper, and faster to demand delivery of bitcoin than gold.

Exactly. If people are not aware of GATA, which accepts Bitcoins, then they should watch this trailer from 2005 to start.

People should keep in mind that mark-to-market is not mark-to-value.

Yeah, bitcoin stable, my dick up.

lol...

Litecoin has now caught up to bitcoin's run-up. Remember when btc tripled, but ltc hadn't budged? It just made the whole move in a week.

I don't know how I feel about litcoin... By design it's max value is 0.25btc. But I'd discount that AT LEAST 10-fold since there can't really be two valuable crypto-currencies unless they have very different properties, which ltc and btc obviously don't. So that's 0.025btc/ltc. It's at 0.0093btc now. And 10x may be generous. 50x might be more accurate.

The nice thing about Litecoin gaining some traction is that it's like a lifeboat. It functions almost exactly the same as Bitcoin, only on a smaller scale, so there's no need to take the arguably greater risk of converting to fiat for arbitrage.

Oddly enough, Litecoin should gain some credibility when GPU miners shift over to it precisely because it's so similar. In doing so, it should also act as a stabilizing asset pool to Bitcoin volatility. Bitcoin's silver, indeed.

Edit: And if Ripple does what it proposes, the major Bitcoin exchanges may have much smaller roles to play; they'll be more of a gateway between fiat and cryptocurrencies, with the latter being easily traded around the Ripple network without ever needing to leave.

What is the best place to buy gold? I checked out Coinabul but the prices seem a little steep. Also, I would prefer a seller in EU.

I figured this is the place to ask, and it could be helpful for newbies who are following this thread.

Heard good things about these guys, think they are based in Europe (germany?)

Well, it is a way to buy PMs with bitcoin in Europe, but they are more expensive than the traditional alternatives.

It's nice you can sell w/o VAT, but your price (0.75 BTC/oz * 36.81 EUR/BTC = 27.6 EUR/oz) is still €2 higher than the price by "kronwitter" mentioned above (23.925 EUR/oz * 1.07 (VAT) = 25.60 EUR/oz), even though that include 7% VAT. Excluding their VAT you're 15% above kronwitter.

If you plan on supporting fiat economy, kronwitter is probably a good choice Smiley I don't have time to think about euro going up or down...

Do you know any business that sells for BTC.73125000 or less? I can match any competition  Grin
