In the first place dude, you have so many choices to buy here in the cryptocurrency to hold in the long term.
Try to check the top altcoins first in the market, at least any of them will you choose, your risky is very minimal for sure in the end.
Or did you make some research about HEX so far? because, if not, I will suggest you to leave it and find another altcoins to buy where
it is better than to HEX. Believe me any of the top altcoins in the market won't give you regret in the end.

I really don't see HEX as a coin to hold for a long term, going by the coin market rating. I'm personally doubtful of projects above 100 on the list and seeing HEX on the 201st list is not a good indicator for long term hold. I'll rather trade the token or hold for a short duration, carefully checking to get the best out of the market.

try nft p2e for future hold, i found one project, its named reptile chronicles, they are doing great job and media coverage is good

Its only trends were created by hype in the market uptrend and now it looks like it is dying and if bear market lasts 2 years I believe nft or p2e trend will disappeared just like ICOs disappeared in 2018. Even if axie infinity is going through its roughest days, the first p2e project on the market and with the largest user base still cannot stand.

I am not interested in hex coin personally but I believe in hold for long-term investment because I personally observe the market from 2017 and I got that most of strong project like Ethereum , Polkadot, Ethereum classic, Solana, Avalanche these are the coin which has bullish too much from his price of few years ago . Like Ethereum was around 700$ but it almost hot 4500$ . So that the reason I love and believe holding for long-term.

Actually with so many cryptocurrencies at this time it is very helpful for everyone if they know how to choose one that suits a certain duration because for the long term I think it is very clear as you said, but for tokens like HEX for example, I think it is only suitable to choose as a short term investment or day trading to find a suitable profit only. Because the potential is still very small to develop for the better unless there is a special update from the team for HEX.

We should prioritize the top 10 over other altcoins, although the top 10 can't guarantee 100% security, it offers the lowest risk for us. To be even more safe, i think in this difficult time we should focus only on the top 3 coins btc, eth and bnb. Investing a lot of money in alt is not a good idea since we don't know what will happen if bitcoin continues to drop. A good example is Luna, so be vigilant when investing in altcoins right now.
