The government is not stupid. They want to get rid of cash, and the immediate alternative for when that happens will be bitcoin (because they will ban gold too, they have already done it in the past), so you are delusional if you think bitcoin isn't under their radar. They want to crush it, and they know the best way is to launch a trojan horse dressed as a sweet solution that sounds good in principle but it's really shit (BU) in order to take control and get rid of Core which is the original cryptopunk team that wants to keep the network as decentralized as possible by giving nodes the #1 priority (without easy to run nodes bitcoin is useless as a censorship resistant tool).

Government/bankster mafia top priority nowadays is to start shifting the bitcoin network into a datacenter driven network instead of random people running them at home on their own computers (if you are not holding the blockchain yourself you are not hosting a full node, so forget about online services crap).

1. CORE are bypassing node consensus to make the rules have upto FOUR mb weight WITHOUT node votes allowing/vetoing

2. other implementations USE NODE CONSENSUS where the nodes decide what they can cope with. and then pools react when there is consensus.

3. CORES main guys sipa, gmaxwell, matt corallo, luke jr(plus dozen others) are PAID by corporations. even gmaxwells/adam backs 'founded' business has MEMBERSHIP into HYPERLEDGER, which is the BANKERS fiat2.0 concept.

wake up to the hypocrisy of the scripts they get sheep to shout. when the real truth is that core are doing all the mis-deeds.

https://www.hyperledger.org/about/members <- general members - blockstream

admit it they get sheep to fear splits, and then tell sheep to beg non-core implementation too split.. yet non-core implementations refuse to split.
non core implementations want to use consensus. not splits.

just wake up

To be completely honest I'd be surprised if there was really that much of a push from governments to try and get rid of Bitcoin through things like BU and everything else. I don't know if its really worth the time it's taking them to try and bring it down, and the apparently repeatedly failed attempts that you're detailing.

While I know the government is wasteful, I don't think they're this blatantly stupid.

well, if it really comes down to it then bitcoin will be screwed. if it can do this once then there's no reason why it can't do it infinitely provided the circumstances are there. not very many people will choose to trust it.

if it really does happen then i hope what emerges from the wreckage is a way of getting rid of mining pools, asics and ideally the whole of china. they haven't brought much to the party.

As of BU gaining momentum, we've come to know that node numbers mean absolutely nothing a long time ago.

it ain't nodes, it's proper signalling. bu now outweighs segwit.

Looks like The Powers That Be are scared that bitcoin manages to keep climbing back to 1000+ territory.

They tried with XT, then classiccoin, now that they realized their PBOC FUD is not working, its BUcoin time.

Luckily, the only thing they are going to accomplish is waste a lot of money, and in the small chance the disaster happens, it's time to dump since both sides will crash as we saw with the ETH/ETC debacle. Core will eventually emerge as the winner since they are objectively the best coders, but no side will win on overall bitcoin crashing and getting a shitfest on mainstream media, with an overall winner: governments and rothchild's gold (as intended, through the good old "divide and conquer" method which they have been using for ages every time something threatened the status quo)

Let's just hope common sense prevails and digital gold stays digital gold. BUcoin will soon join the list of failed powergrab attempts with false promises. They will not stop $2,000 from happening this year.

Other people said different things. That chinese miners have totally different opinions in terms of SegWit or HF.
And mainly Jiang and his idiots are the ones making all the noise.
Let them risk a trial of strength! I'm pretty sure they will be the ones looking pretty stupid, empty handed at the end!

Interesting, it was argued quite often SegWit full node support of 60+% actually means something.

r/bitcoin script
1. script: "everyone shout out that you fear non-core implementations want to split the network"
2. reply: but they dont, they want to use consensus

3. script: "ok everyone shout that non-core SHOULD split off"
4. reply: now thats hypocrisy, but they wont, they want to use consensus

5. script: "ok everyone shout that they are giving miners the power"
6. reply: but they are not. core are giving the miners the decision power, by bypassing node votes.

7. script: "ok everyone scream that non-core want to take cores dictatorship away"
8. reply: but there should be no dictatorship, there should only be consensus

9. script: "ok call anyone hating core-blockstream a troll because we run out of misdirected scripts"

Why not ban BU scammers or at least keep BU threads in alt section?

BTC.TOP is a new public pool looking to get their name out. Not surprise they'd make loud statements at their inception.

Indeed, this bitcoin unlimited meme needs to end. A part of me actually wishes they took control as the main branch of bitcoin, just to see the faces of the poor delusional idiots that actually support those amateur crooks, but that would mean bitcoin is fucked beyond belief and anyone that has holdings in bitcoin and wants to hold them long term for 10+ years knows the project wouldn't survive. They don't want people to have digital gold.

At the end of the day nothing will happen, BU can't get shit done without Core's code, in the moment of truth anyone holding real money will run Core nodes and those state-bribed miners will learn the lesson and either support Core or get the fuck out and start their own altcoin.
