All this fuss and refreshing and no one is offering a real price? Come on, this is going to be anticlimactic.

That's because there's no real price. At least no more real than this:

"high":17.51001
"low":15
"avg":15.937859286
"vol":79.04892973
"last":15
"buy":15
"sell":16.99

I suspect they are running on manual to refill the order book, no websocket data yet and no public broadcasts to show trades....this...could...take...a....while Sad

Price is stable at 15.3$ on TH.

Looks like the market doesn't care that much about what is happening on MtGox.

Yeah, and another 1000 BTC sale on that site will bring the price down another 2 dollars like it did yesterday.  A 1000 BTC wall is nothing on MTGox.  Or at least it wasn't until it shut down a week ago.  On tradehill it'd plummet prices again.  There isn't enough volume on TH to compare it to Gox.

Seriously.  Only a couple hundred coins changed hands in the last ~2 hours there.  It's not stable, it's inactive.

Any other competent technical folks want to get together and discuss putting an exchange together? Not too impressed with the options we have right now.
I have been thinking about it. But there's more to a successful company than just setting up a couple of web services.
We most certainly agree.

But BitCoin needs a truly professional exchange. We do not have that now and I do not see one coming down the pike. There are a lot of posers out there whose product falls far far short of the talk and promise.

It's not a question of whether a far better product can be produced, it's a matter of who is going to do it.

Lowest Ask Price   50

Highest Bid Price   0.0001

It actually showed lowest ask 15, highest bid 17.51 at some stage. Weird.

Now it's starting to look normal.  16.99/15.02

Takes minutes to get to the trade page. Looks like their database is crushing under the # of users.

Mine do appear now. Canceling works as expected. Yay! No real time data on Clark Moody's yet.

I just pulled my coins out of Mt. Gox just when I got them in. I don't trust that site anymore, nothing seems to work properly.

If many people do the same, that might push the price up instead of the expected crash.

Looks like they ran a few trades through, then shut down again. Trade data has been "Last Price: 15.1, High: 17.51001, Low: 15,  Volume: 78.93992973" for several minutes now, after a few minutes during which volume increased. They seem to have given one update to "bitcoincharts", which turned their block from black to white, but no more data followed.

Buy.0000001

At the same time, I realize that you could buy Bitcoins for 13.8$ on Bitcoin7 (disclaimer: the link contains my referral code). There is an easy arbitrage here for anybody able to send some dollars on Bitcoin7 (unfortunatly not me).

Price is stable at 15.3$ on TH.

Looks like the market doesn't care that much about what is happening on MtGox.
