i'm done with gpumax.

it's just frustrating when the purchase is activated waaaay after payment has been made, and at random times.
precision is key for me, and i can't get it from you.

i'll be back when i can control my timings as precise as possible.
Blah blah blah, I'll keep making extra for my miners!

If you need precise control, run your own bithopper.

Im sure he does, but he wants to buy extra hashing power to hop with. Clearly that needs some predictable timing to work. If GPUmax ever makes that possible, it will have interesting consequences. In a way it would "democratize" hopping, since hoppers will bid for shares to the point they are profitable, and the profits will be distributed among all gpumax members.
Yeah, GPUMAX needs a bid-ask spread beyond 2 selectable options. And a tickbox that would allow hashes to be sent to a customer's own bithopper, while adding a fee to pay for the inevitable stales and rejects.

OK because everybody said CGMiner was so great I decided to finally switch over (well mostly now since both babies are asleep  Wink ).  I have been able to get it to work on my single card rigs like my PC at home using this line:

cgminer -o http://gpumax.com:8332 -u 4f385447ccaa1017760af1b8 -p abc123 -o pool.ABCPool.co:8332 -u genericuser -p genericpw -I 9 --failover-only

Does that sound about right?  I figure I'll let afterburner and Trixx handle the clocks since I was able to get the memory down to 180.

My next question is what do I do about my multicard rigs?  I have 4 GD70s running 6870s.  In the past I have always made a worker for every card - that way I know if any specific card is acting up instead of guessing which one in a rig.  Is there any way to tell CGMiner to use one worker for one device and another worker for another?  In GUIminer this is easy as I just create a new worker for each card.

I didn't bother to make a config file - I'm assuming that's OK.

Pirate, you seem to done a great job getting the miner hangs worked out (guess it was a load balancing issue).  I redirected all hashing back to GPUMax this morning and not a single problem in last 16 hours  Grin

its best just to use one instance of cgminer for the whole rig - to take the guess work out use --gpu-reorder and it will order them the same way trixx does that way if see a card sick or something you will know which one it is

sometimes I think my marriage is still in beta  Tongue

Does that mean you can dump her for a RC2 wife?

This is why I opted for a rolling (re)lease; the upgrades can even overlap.

Sorry Honey, I switched git branches this week.

you should name your service gpumaxcasino for the buyers.

Hey.. I think he's on to something here..  just imagine the much expanded target audience for purchasing shares...   Put in some virtual roulette wheels, slots, fancy it all up and the buyers gamblers wouldn't even know they were buying mining shares !!!!!   As a net seller of shares, I whole-heartedly endorse this new, expanded target market Smiley

OK, back to your regularly scheduled "its still beta" discussion...

and in other news:

ARRRR

Some people must be worrying about dollars and cents every day.  Horror the thought if it moved to weekly or monthly payments (when we come back to port for some drinking and carousing).

I have some hash power pointed at GPUmax, and get some payments when they turn up, but mining is a hobby rather than something to pay the rates/power/expenses.  A few coins/day, a few more over a week, over a month they add up.

I'm not as big as some, but big enough.  Mining is a bit more than a hobby so obviously I'm concerned about getting paid, but 14 hours isn't exactly terrible.

BTW: Congrats on 700 posts!
