Thank you for your advice. Now I understand little bit more about staking.
I'll use CPUs for research, and GPUs for mining different coins for a while, and see how it works.

It's normal for the "stake" to drop to zero for a while after you get a payout. Intended mechanism that seems to be targeted at allowing multiple folks to get payouts over the course of time rather than the "few" getting them quickly and often and everyone else having a much longer wait.


 I'm not sure what projects the 1080ti would be good at on BOINC - my pair are doing other stuff.
 Ryzen should be pretty good to excellent at any of the "cpu but not GPU" projects.

 You'll probably have to run your CPU at somewhat less than 100% cores and time to leave some for feeding the GPU.

 Magnitude is basically a measure of "how your RAC compares to the total Team Gridcoin RAC on a project" - it's generated on each project seperately then added together.

https://www.gridcoinstats.eu is a usefull site to figure out how you're doing on an overall basis, since it actually TRACKS each project and how much RAC is attributable to Team Gridcoin participants.


 It can be good to have one "backup" project for CPU and one for GPU in case your intended "main" project runs out of work - some of the "low participation" projects are that way BECAUSE they run out of work a lot.
 It's probably not needed for most high participation projects, if you set your buffers to keep at least a couple days worth of work on hand.


 You're not going to get rich from Gridcoin, but it has consistantly paid the electric bill (more or less) for the machines I've had running it over the last year and some, and the recent "cryptocoin price surge" has made it actively profitable - just not AS profitable as regular cryptocoin mining on ETH or ZEC for most recent-generation GPUs or XMR for recent-generation CPUs.

 On the other hand, you can do work for science and get the nice warm fuzzy feeling that you're actually doing something useful for humanity while still having GRC earnings help pay the bills....

So I've set up everything and chose some random projects and I got some questions.
Perhaps I'll answer them myself in some days, but eventually someone can share some of their knowledge.

1) I've just chosen some projects from this Whitelist. I've read something like:
One project for GPU, one for CPU and maybe for each one some with low Resource share, if there is no work.

Did I understand that right?
Are there specific projects which would be recommended at the moment if we don't talk about the subjective preferences?

I'll probably try different projects over the next days - each setting for 1-3 days to compare them and to learn more about the different "Preferences" and all those sub projects I can choose from.

My specs at the moment:
Mainboard: ASUS Prime X370-Pro
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700, 8x 3.00GHz
RAM: G.Skill RipJaws V schwarz DIMM Kit 32GB, DDR4-3200, CL16-18-18-38
GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Xtreme Edition 11G

2) Anything in general I can keep in mind in the beginning?

3) Is it preffered to run the CPU at 100% or better at 50-80% if it comes to durability? Of course I'm talking about the time, I didn't use the pc at all.

4) I didn't understand the concept of the Magnitude and how to raise it (probably way to early to think about that?) - is there something I should care about?

Perhaps someone can give some advices.

Hello, I'm new to Gridcoin and I have questions about staking.
I'm running Gridcoin Wallet 24/7, and every time I get staking reward (type - Mined PoR), My stake weight goes 0.
After a while, my weight gets back to 44 (I have about 16500 coins). After more than 15 hours or so, weight gets back to 16500 and stakes as usual.
I don't know why the weight doesn't go back to 16500 at once. or is this the normal thing and working just fine?

Hello guys,
I just stumbled upon Gridcoin on my search for projects with a real use which already are kinda established and without a community going full "moon-lambo" talking.
Since I'm rather new to cryptocurrencies and seeing all the hypes about ICOs I'm glad I found one like this.

As far as I could read (here and on reddit) this system looks very useful/supportive. So I can support projects I like with my own PC that helps people and their work.
Not sure if I can earn enough Gridcoin to pay off my additional electricity costs if I would leave my pc running 24/7 or if there are other benefits for doing so, but whenever I'm online, this wouldn't be a problem at all.

In the next days I've quite a lot to read. First step would be to follow some instructions I've found to register myself in some pool.
After buying or getting some GRC I'll try to do it without a pool.

I'll probably edit this post if I set up everything.

One question in general:
If I have some difficulties or problems, which platform should I prefer to ask for help?

I did it. I followed this instruction to set up BOINC and BAM! and used this one to set up the Gridcoin wallet. Easier than I thought but I needed some hours to read about it. I just added some random projects - can't be wrong as long as they are on this Whitelist.

Yeah I raised my concerns earlier. I think it would be enough to post 24hrs news aggregate in a single post, would be more beneficial if you wanted search the news by day etc. 

I wish someone could figure out how to turn the excessive Erkan spam off.
