Even if the epoch benchmark issue with the Claymore miner is not fixed or ETH goes to POS by that time, two RX 4XX/5XX card will easily do 620 H/s on ZEC or ~30% better than a 1070, or ~10% better than a 1080. Results for most other algoriths is similar. The bottom line is I can mine more coins for the same amount spent on cards with the RX 4XX/5XX than any Nvidia 10 series cards.

why you compare TWO RX4xx/5xx with ONE 1070? you think you will never pay off the investment? In case you never can get the money back from investment it makes anyway no sense to start even mining Wink

After the investment is payed off you make with ONE 1070 ~ 470 Sol/s and with ONE RX4xx/5xx just ~ 320 Sol/s - so after investment is payed off, with which hardware you can mine more and get better profit?
Or say it in this way, with 4 x 1070 i mine nearly the same than someone with 6 x RX4xx/5xx Wink

RX 470 8 gb price is 220 eur
and hashrate is up from GTX 1080

first of all you should be able to get some RX 470 8 gb which are on stock and sold at this price and what will you do with that cards in few weeks when they lose 30% hash power on ETH? going to one of the few alt-currencies (where for sure none of the other AMD miners will go to shred the profit there)? Wink

problem with rx is almost impossible to find here in california. all stores , even amazon is sold out.
only one model is available in bulk, this one:
https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GAMING-Radeon-RX-470/dp/B01KCWZHTO
it costs 699$ + tax, that's 150$ more than 1080.

I have a great deal to buy 10 - gtx 1080 at 539$ a piece brand new, another deal for 10 gtx 1070 at 459$ a piece.
I need some advice from people who own rigs of nvidia. Which one of these 2 would you buy and Does it worth to invest 5.5k in this deal ?
Thanks in advance!
Gtx 1080 certainly has the latest technology, but you must see in terms of needs and also your ability. I think the latest technology definitely has a much better feature. Investing money is certainly a difficult thing, you should be able to think about when the ROI will occur and what coin you will be mining. Whether the coin has a good prospect or not. So consider everything before you regret having spent a lot of money.
I'm buying bitcoins every month to pay for  expenses. i'm doing intense 3d programming and web sites and i use a lot of gpu memory. So i was thinking why pay lot of fee to buy coins when i can put this pc to mine when i'm not working and is idle.

I would go for 1070 if I were you. They have the same Ethereum power for a lower price.

I'll go for 1080 in bulk. Right now i have msi godlike carbon motherboard and it has only 5 pci-e slots. I have good deal to buy another godlike carbon motherboard but i want to ask you first, is it a good motherboard for setting a rig ? also some suggestions for gpu raiser ?

That is a high end lga 2011 v3 motherboard, x99 series have enough pci-e lanes, 5 gpu's will definitely work. About the riser, get any 6 version.

I would buy the 1070 cards, GDDR5 is better than GDDR5X memories for mining due to the low latency times.

And I wouldn't face this as an investment, this is a hobby.

Things must be rough where you live if you consider $540 for a 1080 and $460 for a 1070 a great deal. You could buy two of the RX 470 4GB mining cards for $500 or the gaming RX 570 4GB cards for less than that, if you can find them and get roughly 20-30% more hashrate for the same price.

I did a quick test with 1070 and 1080 with nicehash miner and 1080 seems to perform better by about 1.50$/day. Anyone experienced the same ?
Thanks in advance!

For the price you listed, the gtx 1080 has no competition.

i dont think 1080/s are worth it ... u get for 700 usd almost 2 1070s and the hasrate for the 1080 isnt almost doubled Grin i think its something like 600-700sol/s on ZCash where 1070s has 400-500sol/s

i would also check the price you get for 1080ti - it's from Sol/$ MH/$ like the 1070 but you need less of them - if you can get a good 1080TI (e.g. MSI X Version) for ~ $ 700 i would go for that.

The price for 1080 is really good, i might be able to negotiate a little if i buy more.
Is there a difference in hash rate between these 2 models 1080 ?:
