2) Yes, physically reverse the fan to reverse airflow direction. I'll clarify this.
Do you have any numbers on the hash rate increase?

Two quick comments:

1) Powering. You say "tape it up for safety," maybe explain that you want to cover the paper clip so that there is no exposed metal, and so that it will not fall out.
2) Cooling. You should explain what you mean about reversing the fan's direction, as in physically taking it out and reversing it.

It looks good!

1) Yes, tape it so it stays in and so you can't touch it, and so it can't short anything near. There's almost no current through that pin, but its still not a great idea to touch it.
2) Yes, physically reverse the fan to reverse airflow direction. I'll clarify this.

Asic Newbie question: Can you direct the local proxy (thus the BE Cube) to mine in other pools too? I keep seeing "Slush's Pool" mentioned everywhere I research but I want to set mine up to mine to my CEX.IO/Ghash.IO pool account. I guess I will be finding out in a few days when my Cube arrives Smiley

Sure you can direct the proxy to any pool. Slush is the guy who wrote it and he defaults the proxy to his pool, but it is very easy to direct it to another pool. Just use the --help option on the command line and look back through this thread to see some configs working with other pools.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium with SP 1  its the 64bit ed.

Drizzik:
This article, seems to be a instructions for turning on and viewing the windows firewall log. Also make sure that you don't have virus scanner or some other utility that might be blocking incoming connections. However, the more I thought about this, it seems even if you see nothing in that log, it won't help determine the cause of the problem. Ultimately, you're dealing with a connection issue. The cube can't talk to the windows box. So maybe the following is a better approach...

Use a separate computer to test the getwork protocol directly. You can do this with curl (installed on mac & linux boxes by default, you can install it on windows) on the terminal/command line like so:

Code:
curl -X POST -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"method":"getwork"}' http://192.168.1.100:10332/

Change 192.168.1.100 to the IP of the windows machine hosting the mining_proxy.

On my test machine the output was as follows:

Code:
{"error": null, "id": 0, "result": {"hash1": "00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000008000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000010000", "data": "00000002fbb9e18a04c77de20bfc9183b2afd4f27cbd1899481de92c00000000000000009734464808d94847d43f39172cf92760269abedc28e5f5192777a43fb5484702533c7fdf1900db9900000000000000800000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000080020000", "target": "0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000ffff00000000", "midstate": "618563166b99fba400046f96377ebf373ff43597bdfecbf3823f37729f1d9eb1"}}

So try that from another machine and see what happens. If the firewall or something else is interfering you won't get that response. You'll probably eventually see a connection error or something similar.

If you run into an error, you can troubleshoot the windows firewall or other utility blocking the port or consider installing linux on a cheap box (I recommend ubuntu linux desktop if you aren't a "linux guy") and running the proxy from there.

Hope this helps!!

IT'S WORKING!! jeje thanks folks, i have my little machine working, something was blocking the communication between proxy and pool, i only changed to another pool and the proxy has connected to it, inmediatelly the Cube has start mining. I changed to slush's pool that is the default for the proxy. The problem was that the proxy was unable to connect to the bitminter pool, but for sluch pool it works like a charm. Thanks for try to help me guys, thx a lot. One more question, can i mine scrypt with Cgminer-Kalroth (a mod of cgminer) and sha256 on another Cgminer?

Thanks for helping me guys, i did a fresh win install on this time.

I think i have a match between Pool Address on Cube and IP of the proxy PC, i did a screenshot, here is http://imgur.com/KSGwJ4h

I dont understand how to communicate CGminer with the Cube,i have some experiencie with mining Litecoins but nothing at all with ASICs and it is a bit confusing for me, the guide of Dogie on this website only talk about Cube's setup but dont talk about mining with it, some people use bfgminer and dont use proxy but i prefer cgminer (more trusted app i think), one more time thanks for the help.

May I suggest getting everything running with the proxy first? At least that way you confirm that there are no problems with the Cube itself, and it can be mining while you fiddle with CG or BFG.

CGminer BAT http://imgur.com/dz5KAIu

CGminer Error Screenshot --> http://imgur.com/L37UVOz

The .bat looks fine, and I'm pretty sure the error messages in the CGminer screenshot are just because the Cube's IP is skrewy.
The failure is on the USB port but that is not used for the cube.

The main question: Is the proxy address and port on the cube correct, that is do they match the proxy computer. Is there something that is blocking the communications initiated by the cube to the proxy being blocked, either IP Address or port?

Crap. I should have noticed that. I didn't look close enough.

Maybe I was unclear, I know that the addresses resolve correctly, but for my Cubes, the primary needed to be (the same/close to) the computer's IP.
It is rather common to set the DNS to the router's on the premiss that the router will forward the DNS requests as necessary. All that is necessary is that the DNS addresses point to a DNS source, either on the local net or Internet. But they are only needed on the cube if DNS names are used on the cube, in this case all addresses are numeric octet strings and do not need to be resolved.

Okay, that makes sense to me. It was explained a little bit differently, but I see your point. Thank you.

Then, your DNS addresses don't look right.
The DNS addresses look good, they lookup to resolver1.opendns.com and resolver2.opendns.com.
I would change the cube's IP Address to another value not close to either end of the range and not in the DNS assignment range. Insure yout proxy computer's IP Address is static.

I'm not where I can check right now.

Proxy config --> http://imgur.com/NBEsENZ

Also, In your proxy config, is that .bat file IN the same directory with mining_proxy.exe? I would make sure that it is, and remove the "cd" at the beginning of the file.

That's probably nothing, but just to be sure.

Well, my first thought looking at the Cube config: I think the IP needs to be the same as the computer that you are running mining_proxy.exe on, so yours should be 192.168.1.10, according to your photo of IPconfig. See #4 in the first post of this thread.

Then, your DNS addresses don't look right. Can you switch the primary to one like 192.168.1.xxx, like your computer's IP?

Then, set the secondary to 8.8.8.8. and see what happens.

Hi guys recently i bought a Erupter Cube and i'm near to cry... i read guides for a while and my cube isnt hashing at all, i dont know where is the problem, i have Win8.1 with 191.168.1.10 IP, my router is on 192.168.1.1 and my cube is on 192.168.1.254

I tried bith cgminer and bfgminer, and anything is working, the most i advanced on this is that cgminer recognize a know usb device, but it isnt working, ive tried also mining_proxy for bitminter pool, but it didnt work too. I used the Zadig utility for changing the COM driver into a USB driver for CGminer but i didnt know if it is correct. At the end i run CGminer and it throw me an "error -3" and say me that a dont have privileges to access the device AMU.

Now i give you some screenshots of my config, i have to say that i have some Android devices connected to the router but i can append another router to the main router to connect the cube. Please let me know if you guys need some extra info.

Thanks you very much on advance
