Has anyone got these to work on OSX yet?

I think you have to set up your own pool, or set up your own LTC node, then connect to that. Or use a stratum proxy thingie.

But LTC is too big to attempt solo mining with only 20 gridseeds. Maybe if you had 200, but not even. You're better of joining P2Pool or solo mining a smaller alt-coin.

thanks but I like to try new things

Don't listen to him.  Your odds of hitting a BTC block with a USB eruptor are proly still better than the lotto Smiley

I say set it up and mine LTC solo.  Pool mining kills the joy of getting a whole block to yourself!
What's involved in setting up solo mining for LTC or other alt coin? I have only ever pool mined, so not sure who to connect to to get blocks to work on.
I ordered 40 of the GS units, so I might like to give solo mining a try as well.

it appears to me - at least from a 15 minute research that you need to setup your own server - such as stratum which is open source - many of the smaller pools are using some canned application since they all look the same.

here's a nice alternative - which I may do tonight on one of my servers.

read a few posts down: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=1558.0

it's about setting up a private p2pool server

which can be downloaded here. I may try it since I have over a 50% change of finding a block in 30 days and that would pay better than what I'm getting in a pool - hell - we wouldn't even be here if we were not risk takers.

download it here: http://p2pool.in/

Actually, decentralization is good. Go solo mine Smiley I know I'd at least try it if I had 20 or 30 gridseeds.

Hi
I have my own pool server
and I have mined coins that way
as I am the only one in the pool I get all the coins for each block found

it works very well

if any one want to test a pool on my server let me know

Ok, time for my next dumb question...
Used Wolfie2014's recomendations and got GS miner running at 700 and generating mid-300 KH/s. Not bad, so I figure ill hook-up the second unit.
The first is on COM3, the second shows up on COM4. so, I modified the cpuminer bat file to use "-G COM3 -G COM4". After running about 1/2 hour, I noticed that the pool wasn't seeing any change in hash rate. I would have expected to see almost 700 KH/s from 2x GS miners.
Also, the green/red lights blink regardless of cpuminer running or not. Cpuminer is showing green nonces, and so-far no rejected shares from the pool, so accepted (over the last 1/2 hour) is 100%.
Am I being to simplistic in my assumption that all I had to do was add another "-G" flag to the minerd call? Is there some other trick involved to get the second miner working properly?
Im going to continue debugging by trying to mine on each GS seperately and see if that works or if one is simply not working as expected.
Any other suggestions?

cpuminer can only handle one COM at a time...

Make a second batch file and you will launch both.

For 5 units you have to run 5 cpuminers... 10 units you run 10 cpuminers... all with their individual COM port defined.

doh!
Thanks...

humor me please..

I really want to run my 20 gridseeds to mine solo for ltc for a few days...

I'm having trouble finding out the setup

can someone point me in the right direction to get the setup info?

Jeff

With a coin as popular as litecoin you might just wanna join a small pool. My 2 cents anyway.

I would probably mine straight to LTC @ scryptguild if i wanted to solo mine LTC.

I believe it's as simple as finding 'get work' mining for your miners.
Go to a pool and instead of using 'stratum' protcol, use 'get work' - follow the instructions.
I 'think' that's all there is to it.
Your results may vary Wink

Changed COM22 to COM2 and tried the settings.

Result:

minerd --freq=600 --gc3355=\\.\COM2 --url=stratum+tcp://eu.crypto-coin-pool.com:3333 --userpass=DanGilmore.1:X
->stratum connection failed

minerd --freq=600 --gc3355=\\.\COM2 --url=stratum+tcp://crypto-coin-pool.com:3335 --userpass=DanGilmore.1:X
->new block det...

Seems like the COM,settings, accountdetails, driver, software are ok ...
but what else could it be ?

But before I can try anything else ... I need to get some rest. So good night everyone and thanks for you effort Smiley

Try this bat file without the \\.\
