I don't think installing antivirus could help you avoid phishing sites nor installing virus on your computer. It actually making it worse. After all, antivirus devs are the people to work on creating viruses in order for their business keep on track. Probably bookmarking, remembering the domain(.com, .org, .ph and etc), being aware on news about the exchange might help and secure yourself from phishing sites.
Why do you think so? Doesn't installing paid antivirus reduce the risk of virus threats?
When using the Windows operating system, I installed the Mcaffe Internet Security paid antivirus on my laptop. Proven to protect when surfing the internet, phishing websites are automatically blocked by the antivirus.

In three years how I got started in cryptocurrency tried about ten different stock exchanges and it seems I was lucky that I did not fall on those that have been hacked, is now in general use Binance and Bittrex
Even though you are lucky, always be careful to secure your assets. Avoid phishing websites, install paid antivirus, try bookmarking websites, and save your password in a safe place.

I am very sure that they can never be hit second time again, and would have put all the necessary measure in place to really guide against this, because if they get hit the second time, this may be the end to their reign, now that people still believe that it was just an over sight which has been sorted, they should better keep it that way and retain their respect in the eyes of the public.

I'm sure they felt they'd put all the necessary measures in place already. And then it happened.

The only time users will care about further hacks is whether it costs them money a la Bitfinex. Bitfinex are psychopaths and their customers are indoctrinated into a cult so that's to be expected. I don't think Binance customers would take so kindly to being forced to pay for their mistakes.

Binance are so rich they should be able to fund any reasonably sized hack themselves.

I was surprised by this list, I was worried that there would be no safe exchange to save crypto assets.
It should be a concern that security is important and users must get a guarantee. I like binance with their guarantee after the Hack case (SAFU).
Hopefully other exchangers will do the same thing with what Binance Exchange does by insuring their exchangers so that if something goes wrong, someone can be responsible for the funds of investors and traders.
I am agree with your viewpoint to insuring their Cryptocurrency Exchange Software like Binance for getting ready for any bad happening in future. It will also keeps the trust of the traders and investors at your respective exchanges. Unless user will move to much safer exchanges which will not be good sign for you..

I know that no one is above mistake, but that was a costly mistake for them to have given themselves bad record amongst these smaller exchanges, I am sure they will not fee happy now being listed among exchanges that has been hacked. Anyway, they have gone past that already.

all i can say is that the attack on Mt.Gor exchange might be coming from the same person. this showcase the need for people to avoid abandoning their tokens on exchange. it is not advisable or favourable. get a wallet. whatever you earn from the exchange can be earn on the wallet.
No doubt it is the effort of a hacker always to target technologies especially the top trending or popular technologies. They love to achieve or extract the most precious data or information or you can say the precious currency of modern era which is the Bitcoin and other crypto currency. They will always be trying to hack or target the utmost profitable sources what we should do is to strengthen our security much more.
I agree with you that we should not relent on securing our account from time to time and one of the greatest we will ever make is to keep our fund on an exchange. No matter how good an exchange is, hackers are always very smart people and they are well trained for this.

They update themselves from time to time more than exchange security engineers themselves, and when it comes to coding in internet, there will always be loop holes from time to time which might not be seen easily. The best way to just safeguard our coin is to keep it safe in our wallet and also make sure our personal pc is safe guarded too because of malwares that could steal our system information.

"Polish Exchange Shuts Down and Disappears With Customers Funds"

Quote
Polish cryptocurrency exchange Coinroom has reportedly shut down its operations and disappeared with customer funds,
local business news outlet money.pl reported on May 31.

Money.pl received an email from one of its readers, who stated that Coinroom —  which was registered in 2016 — ceased operations overnight and disappeared with customers’ money in April. Some users say they had up to 60,000 zloty (around $15,790) in their accounts.

Before ceasing its operations, Coinroom reportedly sent emails to its customers, containing information about contract terminations. Coiroom customers had only one day to withdraw their money, which was in accordance with Coinroom regulations signed by users. However, customers reportedly claim that some of them got only part of the money, while most of them did not receive their funds back at all.

"Crypto Exchange Beaxy hacked shortly before launch"

It's surprising that this project takes a long time, I still remember Beaxy introducing the platform in 2018.
of course this is very embarrassing because the case of the hack happened when Beaxy was preparing for the launch of their exchange this year.

"Crypto Exchange Beaxy hacked shortly before launch"

Quote
According to CEO Artak, the hackers did not have access to confidential information such as KYC data, or codes. In addition, no values were stolen from their exchange. However, this is not exactly the best thing to do for an exchange that is about to be launched. But as with everything that is new, there will always be some problems in the beginning, hopefully, this does not happen when there is money involved for both parties.

They say that the hackers have not achieved anything.

Binance did this because of fear of loosing their legacy and had they not done this, they would have no doubt lost users and money of course. So they preferred to save their trust and now people are back on the exchange with more enthusiasm and work to make money by investing in crypto. Binance did so because they had the money and I am not sure if any other exchange out there would be able to do so.

Well, there are reports that most of the hacks are coming from the same groups of people sponsored by the governments of North Korea and Russia, but you know, these are just Western reports. All politics lead to fake news.

I don't even really consider all hacks are legit. I still believe Mt Gox and others were exit scams. But that's just me, I hate trusting people and when you see their faces...

I like that "not your key`s, not your bitcoins" part, it sums all up. Lost bitcoins are lost, you can`t get them back. There are no insurance that can print you bitcoins that you lost, bail outs in crypto would be funny thing to see.
Nice list, maybe some people will think about where to leave bitcoins after seeing this topic. If you don`t protect yourself who else will? Don`t expect from any kind of service to do your job.
Yes this is right. We cannot help with it because with the passage of time we loose Bitcoin and the current mined figure which is 17 million Bitcoin are not there in the market. Many of them are lost so we have 17 million minus the lost Bitcoins available. Yeah the list is good which gives you an insight into the reliability of the best exchanges in the market.

So far only binance has that service, we can be sure not to trust too much and always keep your assets in a safer wallet and that is not an exchange.

I don't know when this exchange hack race would stop!

When they become non custodial. That's the only thing that'll stop it in its tracks. All the same I'd be interested to what Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini are doing right when everyone else is doing it wrong. Coinbase in particularly is the juiciest target by far.

As for S Korea the exchanges seem just as dim and incompetent as the people who trade on them.
