Not new hacking techniques from these scammers. Contacting big youtubers and check attaching some links that will direct them to a phishing website which seems to be the requirement.

It's a big channel and youtube will retain it, I believe.

The latest hacking scandal in the Philippines right now. AkosiDogie, A famous Filipino Streamer/YouTuber that focuses on vlogging and gaming contents on his youtube account got hacked a few hours ago. All of his video contents where deleted and was replaced entirely by a project promotion named GEMINI.

After the twitter hacking scandal from past few weeks ago, Hackers now are targeting youtube accounts. It's my 2nd time seeing this kind of news that thousand/million subscriber accounts are getting hacked for the sake of promotion of projects. We know that this wouldn't bring a good publicity about the promoted project, I'm thinking why would the project team use hacked account to promoted their projects.

Hackers doing this though, won't their accounts eventually get frozen when found out, which is fairly quick? I mean, they've got to be putting out all their referral codes on those videos, so all it takes is 24 hours, Youtube reports and freezes it and reports to Gemini, and then those accounts are all confiscated anyway.

It is not only youtube, hackers and scammers are everywhere, all social media networks are full of scammers.
Even if you will check your email you will find a couple of phishing or scam emails every week.
Fake airdrops, giveaways and doubling or trippling offers are a routine now.
Only if we control our greed then we can stay safe otherwise these are everywhere now.

First time I heard hacking a Youtube account for the purpose of promoting their project more.
I have heard a lot about Facebook though.

I tried to click the news link but there is no article or something that could be read there.
Browsed more with the page and I saw a photo where it is said he had 2FA activated. But I doubt that.
Even if your email is hacked, hackers will not have the 2FA. They will need your phone first or the security key to make a new one.
Worse, a video call for identity check.

Will Youtube even do anything about this and so does other social media?
Security should be tight especially now when hackers have a lot of time tinkering things to get in.

Even the centralized organizations have failed us, that is why not only Youtube but other social media will always fail us. Scammers use these social media to scam people, maybe scam can not be eradicated. We people need to know and leave our ignorance behind to know more about how to avoid scam, nobody will help in this. I noticed this types of scams are mainly affecting greedy, impatient and people that lack knowledge and experience about scam. This is a time we should not neglect everybody around us about awareness so they will not be a scam victim.

Aside social media, scam activities has been existing everywhere, and it has always been on the rise.

LOL, it reminds me of the twitter hack recently, when something is too good to be true we need to think again, by the way, all of these hackings show that twitter, youtube still got problems.

This is only tell that social media platform that they need to improve their security or else many popular YouTuber can also experienced the same thing in the future . They need to create away to secured users account so it will stop same thing with Twitter and other popular social media platform.

It's a waste of time and money if the owner of that channel will not recover his account its also important  to him since he is earning from it.
