Halving will begin in 2 months time
it wont be until august or so that we will get a noticeable effect from the halving, so no, the halving has not yet begun.
And in that case, what BTC might get, is a great big halving dump. Loads of BTC nutters are long, expecting their holdings to double for the 'Halving Pump. Likewise, the miners will be withholding large amounts of BTC from the market in order to dump post halving.
Of course, the post halving event dump is a given at any rate, but just imagine what that might entail, should there be no halving pump?
Just another example of the masses being burned in crypto land once again.......
A good possibility is a halving dump, and once all the longs who have piled into BTC on halving hype are shaken out, and the miners have cashed in a big bunch of BTC in order to pay their bills.......and future supply of BTC is 'halved', then we might see a BTC post halving pump, but who knows......pump could be from something like $320 (where floor is for me at the moment), to $600 or something like that. Not quite the $1K+ heights that the majority are hoping for.

Bitcoin price wasn't even going up right after the first halving, it took couple months for market to correct the price.

Yeah price of bitcoin has been down from the past. During the days of thread initiation the price seems to be increasing just because of this one might have thought halving has already begun.

The halving effect will be felt 6 months after the halving events. This happened in the halving in 2012.
I agree its not started yet price of bitcoin now is not really high and still cheap, its ok to buy by this state because price is not high and maybe we see the price rising for past these i though it was the effect of massive people buying bitcoins for that week and save for their wallet so they can join the earner trend in halving times occur, but today really price of bitcoin is decreasing dont know why but hoping it will go down so much and it will stabilzed around 450$ and cant still earn profit with bitcoin even though halving is not occuring.

It hasnt started, still got like 50 more something days.
But we can still see the pre-halving prices still surging regardless of it. We should see more of a stable new average after it hits the 1st day within the week or so.

It seems there is no halving effect. The price did not rise, It is trading around $450 for a few months already.

For people who read threads here, there is talking about how price of bitcoin is already doubled for upcoming halving. I think its high possibility for that to be truth. And if price is already doubled I don't think we can see some big rise, what is logical.
Normally we can expect some nice surprise, and we can try to predict that. if its happen it will be in August or September, months after halving. I don't think its impossible to see some spike over 1000 $. Chances for that are low, I know that, but it doesn't stop me to believe in that.
We will see exactly when time comes, for now I still think that btc will rise above 600 $ in next few months.

will the price climb or tumble when it halves is the question we all want to know.

I like your word "history"...so far we have lived only one halving...
for me halvings are since the start of bitcoin in the bitcoin price...
all up and down are only speculation out of halving effect.

the far majority of the people here think the price will go up. but the thing is that people have been thinking like this since the price was below $300 back then. this just makes me wonder, how much profit is there still to make realistically from todays prices. i don't think more than $600. my guess is more in the range of $520-$550 at most.

Yeah halving is assumed to happen in mid of July, price has started increasing already, I think this may be the beginning of halving, also people started holding their coins rather than selling that too shows a sign of halving.I shall hold most of the coins for the long term. I will also use some coins to pay for my mining cost etc.
