I am quite late to the party, joining only 3 months ago.

I bought a bitcoin and invested in a number of alt coins.

In that time my portfolio doubled in value, halved in value, bitcoin forked, and I am now just about in profit again.

Has it always been this stressful?

Regardless, I am hooked...

Seems like I just went through all this just today  Grin

Always stressful and should be so as there are gain and loss. If you don't invest more than you can afford to lose you can overcome the stress.

the stress is what you make it really. If you are a day trader constantly trading then yeah your gonna be stressed out. Much more than the swing or position trader who would rarely check their portfolio. also if you got into crypto and knew it was volatile then you simply should expect some of this. Sure it is big swings but they happen both ways and the quicker we teach ourselves that the quicker we flourish imo

I try to not look at overall value of portfolio. I just keep my head in research on a certain coin, or on technical analysis of chart. That way I dont feel the swings. I just act on analysis. I check portfolio maybe once or twice a month. Its a nice way of keeping the stress away

I have only invested around 2.5kusd and have accepted that I can lose it all!

I have picked out a few solid looking coins and plan to hold.

Currently my portfolio is: Ether, Waves, Shift, Ubiq, APX

Let's see what the rest of the year has in store.

Bought an altcoin 2 years ago, joined this forum around November 2016 and I've never experienced stress.
Only had fun in seeing my portfolio grow.

Don't invest money you cannot lose. Invest without emotions and try to stay down to earth about it all. Keep in mind that there is a chance that you wake up one day and you might have lost your money.

The erratic values in crypto makes everything stressful. Because money is at stake and we all want to profit in allthe investments that we made in crypto world, the decreased value of some coins makes us anxious. Even the highs make us a bit anxious for it brings confusion as to sell or hold on to it for a while; pressure is always  high.

well, you are dealing with money and it is a risky investment, nobody can doubt that. and because of this risk it becomes stressful. but how much stress you endure depends on many different things.
for example if you have invested a large amount of money, obviously you will endure a lot more stress than someone who has invested $50. and it is not just about the absolute number it is how much that number mean to you. $50 can be a lot for someone and a million can be nothing for a rich person. as they say, invest what you can afford to lose.

the other factor is how much experience you have. investing in bitcoin is easy. you always know bitcoin price will go up no matter what. in the long term bitcoin is the winner.
but when you invest in altcoins it is not true anymore. if an altcoin goes down it may never come back up. so you have to act accordingly. sell at a loss if you have to and prevent bigger losses and then invest at the bottom. never hold alts. this way you reduce the stress, consequently you can think better and make better decisions.

and don't worry you are still new (3 months is nothing). with time things will get easier for you.

Bitcoin sed to be worse in the past, now is more stable, but still volatile.

Altcoins are like Bitcoin in early days.

Better be used or join the hodl team

Nah, the scene is so much easy and calm now, I remember back in my early days....

Welcome to cryptoland Smiley

Crypto world trading is more stressful at the moment.
With the rise of numerous options and the nature of most coins with general tendency of yearly increase in supply+halving makes it much more complicated.
And the steady rise of price of bitcoin makes the bitcoin-crypto trading portfolio complicated.

Yup. Your journey has just begun. Me, i encountered a lot of situations. Like diving on peak then the price dump quickly. That was really stressful because i lose almost half of my portfolio that time. Lesson to be learn: don't put all your eggs on one basket. Don't give what you can't afford to lose. The market is very hard to predict. So you must be careful.

Good for you because you earned good this time. Last month was bad because the market is having huge corrections. Now i see a lot of coins are recovering. I see IOTA is moving fast.

Unluckily, the time you investing to the market is worst time in this year, because in this time ended bullish trend from March to May and beginning bearish trend in June until today the price of most cryptocurrency can't recovery to the value in May. Well the crypto market always has been this stressful, so everyday have some trader give up marketplace Grin

Yes it has always been very stressful during the lows, but the highs kind of make up for it.
