Here is what I have the 470s up too (impressive little cards). This is completely custom bios, and had to hack the shit out of the amdgpu pro drivers on linux to get it to work properly.

wow

Ubuntu 16?

Very impressive I think a lot of us would love to know how to do that!

On another note, the price on the RX 470's has climbed through the roof for the 8gb cards.  I see them selling for more than RX 480's... That's just insane!  I want some more RX 470's, but at these prices I am ordering RX 480's.  I will just have to keep my eyes open for some rx 470 8gb cards.  I see the MSI 470 8gb cards are out, but the memory is the slower memory so you won't get the hash rate from those cards you will from a card like the Nitro.

Looks like everything is sold out all over the place.  I was looking for some more parts for another rig and had to search all over the place or pay a premium just to find what I needed.  So it is getting kinda NUTS out here! LOL

You should consider  doing upgrade service for us.  that is a nice hack.

could it do windows 7?

8GB card is running at 24.xx Mh/s (drivers v16.8.1)
4GB card is running at 22.xx Mh/s (drivers v16.7.3)

-tried dual mode ETH+Decred:

Decred speeds:
8GB card is running at 369 Mh/s
4GB card is running at 321 Mh/s

GPU-Z PowerDraw and memory speeds:

Sapphire Nitro+ RX470 8GB: 119W - Memory Clock 2000 MHz (stock)
Sapphire Nitro+ RX470 4GB: 116W - Memory Clock 1750 MHz (stock)

Just running stock for now.
Afterburner and the AMD settings app won't let me change the Memory Clock over 2000/1750 MHz.

today I have a 470 and a 480 coming from newegg.

and after testing my two sapphire rx 460's they are going back to amazon.

besides hash rates of 12 + 12 = 24mh

they work poorly  the pc crashes  the hdmi  hookup goes black. I have to use the dvi and I rather use the hdmi.

So for me it looks like look for the 480's and 470's.

this is the model of 460 I am returning

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J1M4HDS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?

the 470's I have are these two  which do around 22mh

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202229

Thanks for the update Phil.  Good to know that the 460 isn't cut out for mining work.  :-)

I have both RX 470's working now (4GB and 8GB) with latest Claymore's Dual miner.
Running it in ETH mode only atm, but both are mining without crashes.

8GB card is running at 24.xx Mh/s (drivers v16.8.1)
4GB card is running at 22.xx Mh/s (drivers v16.7.3)

4GB card is running at 321 Mh/s

Both Sapphire Nitro+ RX 470's at stock speeds.

Nice to see them both hash, Claymore's miner ftw!

What are the memory frequencies. Are you able to overclock the memory frequency? If so, what software do you use?

I just got bought two of the 4 GB version MSI RX 470's from NewEgg ($199) and I can confirm that out of the box you get 20.5 MH/s at default settings.

The memory clock on the MSI 4 GB model is 1650 factory default, but I have been able to increase it to 1850 to get another 1 MHs (21.5 MH/s) stable. I have tried clocking the memory up to 2000 where I can get 22 MH/s for a bit before it crashes. I will need to work on trying other settings and voltages to make it stable at that speed, but I think it is possible, being so close out of the box.

The power draw is about 110-120 watts per card from my initial measurements. I am going to try to focus my efforts more on getting 22 MH/s stable before worrying about reducing the power draw, as for now it is still better than my other cards in terms of watts/hash.

I was thinking about building a 470 rig but i am not that impressed by the hashrate mining ETH.
The price is not that much lower then a 480 8GB either, so i guess i will start building another 480 rig instead.

Or am i missing something ?
I know overclocking the 470 suck right now until a new driver is released but i still think it is way overpriced.

yes and no  the 470  seems to do   110 watts for 22.5 mh   the 480 seems to do 140 watts for 27 mh

so  4.90 watts  a  mh  for a 470  vs  5.2 watts a mh for the 480

does not seem like much    but with better drivers I feel the 470 will get better

also a 470 can be had for  199

a 480 is more like 239

for me  I will end up with

mostly 480's

I did get a 460 from amazon today  good price? 149.99

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J1M4HDS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?

this may be the best yet  depends on mh rate.  if it does 18 mh for 80 watts  that would be  4.44 watts a mh

new egg had it listed for 106 the other day but im not to sure how the 460 will work im waiting for reviews i might go with those but that's me being cheap if they work.

and the way it looks is the 460 pretty much does the speed of a 7870 but new with a 14 NM chip HM, I'm cheap i may just buy a few not just to replace old out dated cards lol .!!! like i was planing . still waiting to see how the 470 and 460 pan out in price and if the 480 ever comes back in stock @ 199 and hope i can get my hands on a few of the 4 gb 480 that can be unlocked once there back   . i have no problem voiding the warranty to save a few bucks im very care full updating the bios have yet to mess up one bios up date on a  video card i couldn't redo or fix .

I've read the MSRP for the RX 470 is going to be below $200, one source said perhaps as low as $150-160, but with the high demand resellers most likely will jack up prices.

they will and they have greedily junks i have other words  i won't use that fit better .

my rig 2x 470 nitro oc  problem

No GPU deviace wiht sufficient memory was found. can't GPU mine. Remove -G argument

if it works with the 480 because not function with the 470?

I saw one thread with hashrates for the RX 460 at 11.xx Mh/s.

But someone else posted 23.xx Mh/s.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/hashrate-radeon-rx-460-1580559

I saw that thread, but the numbers were all over the place like you just pointed out.

I think he was saying 11.xx for 1 card, 23.xx for 2 cards. Which is consistent, and according to what others have said, to be expected given the 128-bit memory bus on the RX 460 compared to 256-bit on the 470 and 480.

Your right, I read right past that statement with 2 cards...  So around 11.5mh in stock trim on the 460.  If that is the case then I think I will be pretty happy with the 470.
Yep.  I'm not interested in the 460 now with that being said and just purchased the Powercolor Red Devil 470 ($199.99) while I wait for my preorder Sapphire Nitro 480's to finally ship!

my 460 comes on friday.   i hope for 80 watts and 18 mh

the 460 and the 470 may have a second benefit  they both may draw less from the mobo pcie slots.

So a mobo that can not do 2 rx 480's  may be able to do a rx 470 and an rx 480

I have a mobo that can not do 2 rx 480's  but can do a rx 470 and a rx 480

it was doing a r9 390 and a rx 480  and when I sold off the r9 390 and put in a second rx 480 crashing happened.

I then put in the rx 470 with the rx 480 and I was all good.

I will need to list and track my builds a bit better. especially with mixing of cards.

as of now I am all rx 480's and 1 rx 470
