It could be sent mistakenly from someone.  Most likely the one you have a transaction before since maybe he still have your bitcoin address.

It never happened to me and would like that to happen.  I just hope that no one would ask me to give it back.  But if ever they message me then I will just sent it back to them since it is not really mine.  But that would be an amazing thing to happen but that would be so rare.

I do not think that someone will message you to sent it back to them.  It is totally impossible as he only knows the bitcoin address not your email address.  But in case that it is your friend or someone you have transacted before then it could be possible.

We all wanted to happen that to us with a good amount of bitcoin.  If that happens then it must be pure luck. Grin

Yeah it would be great to receive a amount of bitcoins for free without doing anything, so far I haven't received a single penny in charity and even in future I don't think its possible.

Yeah you really can't send a message to the guy you accidentally sent Bitcoin to. If you somehow do manage to message them, chances are they won't return. That's why you should always double check the address you are sending Bitcoin to, before you send it.

Seriously though, how the hell does one "accidentally" send Bitcoins to the wrong address??  Roll Eyes It's not like people memorize Bitcoin addresses, or do they? I know I copy paste my addresses but I triple check them before clicking send. There was this one guy on Reddit who sent 800 BTC to the wrong address.. 800??? like how do you even reach that level negligence lol?? I suppose he could've been high on something. I don't even want to think about the number times I would check everything for that amount, probably spend an hour or more just checking and re-checking  Cheesy

This used to happen to me, when I was doing faucets. I was like, 'woah, this guy is so generous!' but then I found it was just an automatic payment from a faucet and I was disappointed.
Sending to the wrong address can happen but rarely. And when it does, there's only a miniscule chance that it goes to you and not someone else.

I thought it really did happened to you and upon reading all the comments here majority didn't experienced this kind of scenario and I'm pretty sure that it is not going to happen either.

Because when someone is going to send bitcoin for their transactions, we are becoming responsible for checking the bitcoin wallet addresses that we are going to send the payment.

So, this is not going to happen.

No no. But sometimes during manual disaster like when some wallet gets hacked I wait to receive surprise bitcoin but this is not possible I know still I hope for receiving bitcoin. But once my friend sent me bitcoin accidentally unfortunately he asked to return back. So sad story of mine.
That's going to be impossible for a disaster to cause a Bitcoin to be sent your address.
The only reason I see that coins can be sent your your address is by mistake through copy and paste. Other than that its impossible, I haven't seen a Bitcoin address that is almost identical with only 1 letter or number difference. System will not allow you to send if its missing a letter or number.

I have never had this happen and it seem very unlikely to receive bitcoins accidentally because of the almost infinite number of addresses. What seems more likely is sending bitcoins to the wrong address which may not be used or may never be used. Those bitcoins are most likely lost forever because the address doesn't belong to anyone.

One of my client has done like that, on day when he was going to pay to an address he by mistake copied someone else bitcoin address (I don't know that how and from where, but he said like that) and send some amount to there and after that when the transaction got confirmed he realized that he has sent the payment to someone else.
but i have never received it randomly or accidentally. but i have once sent it to some where else still do not know about it. actually it was my first time and now learn how to to sent bitcoin to someone.
Happens when we are new since we don't know that even disturbing a single letter in the address can cause serious money loss. I had once did such mistake but did not costed me because I deleted the end character of address and it said invalid address.

I am thinking of that also when I was still newbie in bitcoin I said to myself "What if someone is going to send me bitcoin by accident," But upon thinking of it again and again that is not possible at all that someone is going to send you by accident because if you made some mistakes by sending bitcoin you don't have option to get it again.

Your statement here doesn't make any sense, if you said that it's not possible for someone to get a random BTC by accident then why did you say that we can make a mistake on sending Bitcoin. Which means getting a random Bitcoin is actually possible if someone accidently makes a mistake while sending his/her Bitcoin.
