Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹
What a good gesture by OP, I admit your kind gesture is commendable. I have helped many people in needy situations but not with bitcoin or crypto. This is because people around me are not interested in crypto. But the help I render with bitcoin is introducing bitcoin to people, which I feel is a very big help. Showing someone the way money is going in the 21st century is a help. Especially when the fellow becomes very financially literate in the society. Teach people bitcoin!

I don't know what my friends would say if i helped them with crypto donations. But there are many cases where crypto donation, or bitcoins, helped people. I have noticed the favorable effect of using bitcoin for donations in Ukraine. In my opinion, bitcoin as a global payment system is in its early stage. Currently, it is used mostly for trade purposes and gambling. And we should consider it first of all as payment system that can be used as an alternative to traditional payment systems like Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, etc. But it could become more popular as it is accepted in more countries and adopted in the developing economies.

It's been always told to hold your bitcoin for long, it would be more valuable in future. That's the truth and I'm one of them who converted larger percentage of saving into bitcoin. but when i heard about a baby of my friend, suffer from cancer and he is helpless, then i transfer a good amount of bitcoin from my saving. I know market is bearish, time to buy more but step I've taken, is make me satisfied.

A commendable thing that had been done although i havent done something similar because usually i do prefer on having fiat form whenever someone of my friends or loved ones does need up some
financial support yet ive been always thinking that it  would be a waste of coin if you do just simply give them or make out some conversions for that particular manner.

This isnt shows on being selfish but we are talking about investment on which you could really benefit later on.As for your situation then your friend would still need to make out some conversions
before he could make use of that but if he's fully aware on how to convert those then it wouldnt really be a problem.

In the end, people still got to convert it to fiat in order to practically use it for any common stuffs outside crypto. I did still send some Bitcoin to a friend overseas back then, as the remittance center here are quite distant and I would never want to pay for transportation especially these days also considering the charge fee are quite ballsy in here. If my friend was just by next door, it would be stupid for me to still help him by sending Bitcoin, lol.

I have been in the same situation last year, but the good thing is that we are still in the bull run that time, so I immediately withdraw some of my bitcoins convert it to fiat and help my family members to settle some medical expenses. I think there's nothing wrong with it, of course our goal is to save as much as we can in the future, but there are things that is behind our control, that we don't have a choice but to take out some from our bitcoin stash.

Every one had a difficulties in certain situations. We should move on with that situation.Even in credit situations, don’t ask all.Ask money from only few people mainly the close one. When we ask money, they all thing about bad situation in our behaviour. And I had helped many people with a less amount of dollars. The value is maximum of 1000 dollars,I had helped my situation.

Using bitcoin for a good cause is something that can be presented to us at any time. I have also experienced it, I have helped my relatives who have suffered from economic and health problems.
In my case I exchanged bitcoin for fiat to help. I have not had to think twice when it comes to saying, how can I help? because I maintain the idea that emergencies must be attended to on time.
Bitcoin teaches us in many ways how we see the value of money. In particular, I can say that with bitcoin we can offer our best contributions in any field.

I have; it was somebody who comes now and then to this forum and was in need for real. It was not an overly big amount, still, from what I know it was of pretty good help.
But, as I said, it was all through this forum. I would not be so eager to send bitcoin to somebody I know personally, because "he has Bitcoin" together with "he affords to donate" can easily make people jump to wrong conclusions.

I donated a small amount of bitcoin to Ukraine when the disaster first started taking place.

Luckily, I was not one of the folks that donated to the scam address under the guise of being a way to donate to them.

Yes, I did this when I was kinda new with this forum and had not any friends here, when the crisis of covid started in the world some countries had problems with supplying face masks and some other related stuff to stay safe from covid, also in some other cases I saw some people started selling face masks for expensive prices, so I started helping some people in some other countries with buying these stuff for their families, that was the first time for me to doing such thing.

Agree with OP, holding doesn't mean forever. We are holding for our needs, we can sell it for our real-life in case we can't survive without selling. Usually, I don't sell cryptocurrency till I need fiat in real life. You did a good job of helping your friend. Doesn't matter what is the current price, the matter is it's been used for saving a life. However, I directly didn't help anyone with Bitcoin. But I converted it to fiat and help a couple of people. Because they aren't familiar with Bitcoin nor much educated. So it will be hard for them to convert into fiat, also there is a legal issue using Bitcoin in my country.

Since I don't believe all the stories I read in the forums like that at first, I've been wondering if this is another thread in search of merit. But since I have no way of verifying it, I will not believe one thing or the other.

I think we need to define bitcoin help more broadly, not only in form but also in terms of source. Under certain conditions, bitcoin is not something that is commonplace so that people around do not understand its use. So you have to give them money from your bitcoins. Or in an urgent situation, someone cannot cash out bitcoins faster so here you are not only giving him bitcoins but also helping him cash out.

Imagine if you offer your friend 1 bitcoin loan for 1 month and because on the way he asks to be sent via a bank account at the current price (eg. $40k), then you can still ask to pay it off 1 bitcoin as well, not $40k bitcoin in the next month.

We are all the pieces of what we remember.
Except for the call for donations in Ukraine, I have never helped anyone by crypto. The people I meet to help are mostly poor, sometimes I meet beggars on the street or families whose crops have been damaged by floods. I donate almost exclusively in cash, and I hardly have a chance to use crypto to donate. But I think crypto are mainly used for investing and accumulating assets, so people will prefer cash help over crypto. Geographical distance such as the war in Ukraine, we only use cryptocurrencies.

Good move but we are always into donation just like the Ukraine cryptocurrency donation which is to help victims of the war, it will be better to do a cash transfer if you have the cash available instead of spending your Bitcoin in this recovery phase of the Bitcoin market. But in whichever way you have done well by giving money out to help a friend who is in need charity have vas blessings.

I've been into alike situations that someone is helpless and I'm like their savior. But I've learned in the past that I won't be using my bitcoin into this type of help anymore because I've done it before. I don't want to let others know that I've helped a lot, mostly from my relatives but since we're in a forum. Most of those people that I've helped, they never paid me back. Yeah, it's a help but they've also said that they're going to pay. Well, it's been years since those incidents has happened and that's why I've learned.

Definitely- when my local people here in the forum held a bitcointalk charity program, I was able to donate at least some of my BTC earnings from my campaign signature towards the noble cause of helping the ones in need. In addition to this, I was also able to help my friend by at least letting him borrow $1,000 worth of BTC for his hospital fees due to the unexpected death of his father.

The good thing about this is that, I never actually invested money or anything. All came from the proceeds of my campaign signatures in which I see it as a privilege for me to participate in.

And why did you transfer Bitcoin to him instead of transferring fiat? I do it using fiat, not Bitcoin.
1. Bitcoin is recognized in my country (not fully yet).
2. My friend also trade with us in group. Most of us, only covert to fiat if need.
3. So He can do same convert processes what i could do for him. So he accepted bitcoin.
4. Always it Isn’t possible to visit anyone anytime due to distance.

It sounds more realistic to me now.

That was a great move OP, is always good to help those who need it. I have done it in the past too, in this forum I have donated for the covid movement. And I have done some bitcoin giveaways in the Spanish section to give the chance to the users to get some easy coins.

In the past 2 years, the crisis was complex, and I had to take my holdings and help my family, I don't regret it, the money comes and goes, that's why I feel good to help when I can.

If you're one of those holding old bitcoins, why don't you do it for whatever reason.
because what hospitals need is fiat. Do you have no cash so you transfer bitcoins to your friend whose child has cancer and your friend is involved with bitcoin, and if so I think that makes sense.
but if i were in your position i would transfer as much fiat as i can to help him and would keep bitcoins beyond my personal immediate needs.
