I have lost a small amount of bitcoin because I did not take it seriously.  I had a wallet back in 2011 with 12 BTC in it!  It was such a small amount of money and I did not care to bother to find it when I lost the information.  I spent a whole $85 or so on it.  I so wish I had it now!!

Wow 37% of users have been scammed including me. That's scary. What can we do to prevent this from happening so easily. The other way I lose bitcoin was my own fault with gambling.

I lost some altcoins trading cause i wansn't attentive and tried to have a deal with random guy that i found online, now i am more careful in this case.
it is better not to have any deals with strangers online because you might lose a lot of money really easy, i lost bitcoins only on gambling
Yeah I do have lost some Bitcoin but that was because I was to greedy and busy with gambling at the time. Bt know I have learned on how to save money.
I do not lose my Bitcoin anymore because that is latterly a waist if you mange to do that.
yes i also lost bitcoin for so many time, and still do so because i like gambling and there is always more chance of losing bitcoin, so i can say that i am regularly losing bitcoin in gambling although some time i also get bitcoin and mostly i face lost in gambling.

A few times, and most of the  times I've lost it gambling, but I've never invested in  any cloud mining sites or else , my loss would be even  higher, at this stage...

Only small amounts, and on rare  occasions larger amounts. But if you have proper  care, and follow the safety recommendations  to prevent such things from happening,  probably you will not have  major problems with it.
The most important recommendation is to use a safe wallet and keep private key safe and hidden.
and one more thing is do not invest your bitcoins anywhere you see lots of profit. some time you see something but reality is actually different.
so never fall on these ponzi offers and you'll be safe.

Yeah if any sites is offering you unreal profits then you should be aware that something is wrong and it will be surely a ponzi scheme which will run away with your investments in future.
you are right, most of those websites just turn to a scam and you cannot do anything about that, you just lose money

Like the most of us investing in scams or ponzi's have lost us our valuable bitcoins. It's a way to learn to be not greedy, and thus i consider my lost bitcoins as learning money.
Although it feels bad to think about it.

Well, if you invested in what turned out to be a ponzi while you didn't know that from the beginning, then it's a mistake where you can learn from. But there are people that invest their money into obvious scams time on time again, while they are losing money all the time. These people are either very dumb, or they think that when they are early enough, they can walk out with a profit even though they know the operators of the ponzi will run at some point.

One day, Ive sent all of my bitcoin in a wrong address.Im trying to find a way to recover my bitcoins but it simply cant. That is why i almost quit using bitcoin. Now im recovering my lost bitcoins. I didnt blame anyone because its my own fault . And I dont expect that i can recover my bitcoins cause it is a human error
Lol I think you have to be careful again in the transaction because you forget to make a copy of an address, you must know that bitcoin transactions can not be undone. so whatever you do to recover it. it is a useless thing you know

Yeah once the coins are gone from your wallet, they are gone forever and its almost impossible to recover it again and I am jealous of that guy who would have received that free bitcoins  Grin
i think you should not be jealous of the guys because it is not good morally to get the bitcoin of a person accidentally and then not to return it to him, if you receive bitcoins accidentally then it is your moral duty to return it to him but most of the people do not return the money and keep it with them.

I got scammed a few times on gambling websites a while ago.
Luckily every time it was like 1 cent lol because I always send test amounts as a deposit when I'm unfamiliar with a website. I lost like half a dollar on cldmine.com because I just left some money on there and forgot about it.

I wilfully disposed of the retrieval details of an alt that I felt was particularly crap. That certainly showed them a thing or two. As for Bitcoin itself, I may have left dust on certain exchanges that I'll never bother sniffing out again.

Yep, being scammed on some cloud mining sites and a group buy of a miner in reddit. I remember when group buying an ASIC miner was still a thing and there I was always wanting to be a part of some group that would profit but after we managed to hit the target budget (which is $1300 for a fury miner) the person in charge of holding the money suddenly went missing and we cannot contact him or know his whereabouts.

Yes. When I'm new in trading my btc was lost. Someone withdrawn my
BTC in C-cex site. I don't know how it happen, well infact
my 2fa was on, but it was bypass who hacked my account in trading site.
That time, when I logging in my account my btc was turns
zero balance. Sigh* I already email the support group, they
answer "maybe I was scammed then", and they can't return my btc.
