I flip houses and wanted to drop a little info on here. It seems that people think this price is low. If you look up the home values in the area which range from $80,000-$130,000 (which I am assuming is a pretty low price point for real estate in Hawaii vs somewhere in the Midwest) your typical "lot" value is going to range from $5,000-$30,000 whith an average price between $10,000-$12,000.
Now lets say you are looking to build a new home on a lot, you should first contact the city. Most cities currently have a condemned list. These are houses that are no longer in livable conditions and can be demolished at any time or have been demolished. The city often gets funding to remove these homes and fill the land making it a "clean" parcel of land. This keeps home values slightly higher than if there were a bunch of condemned homes still standing ready to fall over, or occupied by squatters. Anyways my point is the city will often "gift" the land parcel to you free of charge provided you build a new home on said land. New construction raise home values, looks great for the city, and generates tax money vs having an empty piece of land sitting there.
Now this parcel in particular looks to be in a community of very small homes (1200sqft or less). It seems there are many lots still available. This could be a good sign that the area is developing and your lot will be more valuable in the future. It could also mean this is an area in a downward spiral with little to no value currently but again I would think property in Hawaii would hold its value if not increase if you were to hold onto it for a long period of time. If you don't plan on or can't afford to build now this is likely a good deal. If you can build right now you might want to consider contacting the city for a free parcel.

Definitely if you are okay with land away from town and in a forest like area.

These lots are at a somewhat high elevation.

I am on the Big Island of Hawaii and could help verify this piece of property being legit.

PM me if you need me to act as a 3rd party for this deal.
Agreed... we could meet, and I could arrange for us to meet with my Realtor present (Bob Riley)

Sure just email me at [email protected] so we can set something up.

I am on the Big Island of Hawaii and could help verify this piece of property being legit.

Being a native, your opinion on it's location and value would also be helpful, as I see it is quite a distance from the beach.

If you want near the beach in Hawaii, it is gonna cost a little more the 10 BTC.  Add some zeros to that.  My favorite beach on that island is part of the Mauna Kea hotel  The houses there are on *average* $5,000,000 and up.  Besides, you aren't going to find many beaches on the Hilo side of the island.  That side is much more rocky.  There are tons of beaches on the Kona side.

+1 not sure about that $5Million number. I've seen some listings for $1 million to $3million that look pretty decent. But that isnt what we are discussing here.

Beach front land is always more expensive and more risky as we do have tsunamis given we are located in the middle of the pacific ocean. Any earthquake on a cost of any of the pacific touching land masses can cause damage to your house via large waves of water.

Since you don't believe me, check them out here:
http://www.maunakearealty.com/luxury-homes/

The first page is from 6.7 to 13.9 million.

My whole point isn't the price of expensive homes, my point is your not going to get anything near the beach for 10 BTC.  Those homes are near the beach.

I am sure stuff is much cheaper on the Hilo side but I don't think there are many beaches on the Hilo side.  Nothing near the beach for 10 BTC!

when did I ever say I don't believe you?

Perhaps you are being presumptuous?

Yes we agree $5000 will not get you land near the beach on any of the islands.

My point was that why even mention $5million homes when there are really good choices in the 1-3 million range? $5million is on the high end and there are very few of them when it comes to small pieces of lands. I'm not talking about acres of prime real estate that sometimes gets listed for those prices.

Hawaiian Acres land as mentioned in the OP for the size and price sounds about right from my own personal knowledge of the area.

Sorry if I misunderstood.  I took your saying "not sure about that..." as = to not believing what I was saying.  We are 100% on the same page, $5,000 will not get you near the beach.  That would be great if it did, but not on this planet!

Been to Hawaii for vacation. Very beautiful place, and ideally that's where I'd be after retiring. I'd love to pay for a home in btc when the time comes, assuming my stash grows big enough by then.
