Yeah I think it works.

Slots are as follows.

0.0500
0.0550
0.0600
0.0650
0.0700
0.0750 These most likely will not happen as diff must move high and some gear may need to break.
0.0800

0.1000

Man oh man  you have quite an imagination.  So the contest brings us back to the world of your difficulty contests.

Pokes some fun at bitmaintech gear.Grin

Shows us how hard mining predictions of income can be.

Damn I like it.

I just got the clock started at f2pool.

So It will end on 2/28/2017

and be the earnings of the 3 miners below.

the new account will keep track.

In theory  it would be 4+7.5+6 =17.5th

that earns 0.0112 btc a day x 25 days = 0.280 btc by the end of feb.

this would mean a flat diff with gear continuing to run perfectly.

Since diff can drop  I will set a max pick of 0.300 btc earned by 2-28-2017

I will set a minimum of .050 btc

new account 0 earned

lol this is pretty funny.  I'd like to sponsor the contest Smiley  It wouldnt be much, like 0.01btc to start.  I have a small website for n00bs, cryptominingtalk.com, and I promised that all referral link income/ads go into giveaways or contests.  I was planning on doing a giveaway for a usb riser for example, maybe that could be the prize Smiley

Sounds good to me.

I think I have figured an idea on how to run it.

Okay I kept the 4th and the 7.5th r4s = 11.5th and I purchased the Avalon 721 which came today. 6th

So all three pieces are mining at a total of about 17.5th.

If I had shipped in the two r4s and paid for repairs I would have 0 th.

Repairs take about 28 days. If I point all three miners to a new account at f2pool  we can see what these miners mine.   Closest to guess the total btc in the account gets the prize.

It combines difficulty since there will be 2 adjustments. Maybe 3. It combines will the gear break.
It combines the r4 vs the Avalon 721 for durability .

So on Friday I will point the gear at a new account on f2pool and the contest will end on feb 28th.

I need to set a few more rules .  Should be fun.

actually  this is an interesting idea.   I have a spare s9 controller maybe I could rig up a 3 board setups

or 3 1 board setups?

antminers always lose 1 board...as if the configuration they have is always 1 board too many.

Just not sure an r4 board   would run with an s9 controller

I'm going to guess the 1 board unit lasts the longest.

What's stopping you from turning them into 2 board s9's?

I am tired of being angry about my bitmain gear.  I use to run difficulty contest in speculation for about 2 years I gave away thousands of usd in the form of BTC not a single  charge.

I am trying to come up with a guessing game about my two Bitmain r4's.

No rules looking for ideas on how to do this prize would be 25 bucks I think I would let it run from difficulty period to difficulty period.

Phil, with all you do for the community, I for one would feel bad about taking any prize for guessing what fails next on your gear and just donating it back to you if I won. I get that you trying to make lemonade from lemons and have some fun with a bad situation. Therefore, I would suggest something along the lines of the Marvel "No-Prize". I think it would be just as fun, while tossing some nostalgia in there. I mean, who wouldn't have been proud of receiving a the coveted Marvel No-Prize from Stan the Man. Maybe call it the Bitmain No Confidence Prize or some such. I think it would be just as much fun.

Good suggestion.

Tricky coming up with guess options, c'mon guys how can we help phil make this work?  Huh

Perhaps block height + which R4 between the diff changes, then resets?

This is classic cycle of abuse symptoms.

Delusion - hoping and praying that "next time" (next batch) it will be better, it was just this one time.  Failure rate of 7/15 boards is 46.7%.
Denial - claiming "a tad temperamental" and "only 2 boards and 3 fans" (failure rates of 6.7% and 15% respectively!)

I'm just going to leave this here...

Guys seriously, we are enabling them to build shittier products by blindly supporting them and assuming we will turn a profit on them.  It is difficult enough (impossible for some!) to ROI on this equipment after taking difficulty and electricity costs into account.  When you start having to account for failures and downtime for repair, you're completely screwed from the beginning even with the longer warranty.  ESPECIALLY if you have to pay for those repairs outside warranty!

I have switched to avalon from now on.

I may run a contest on my two r4's

one is 50 days old all good except 1 board.
other is 13 days old all good except the fan sounds terrible.

The contest would be what breaks next and on which r4?  If you could help with rules and for that matter I may  have the entire community help set up the contest .  While I am sure it may or may not  improve service we may as well have some fun .
