What exactly have they contributed ? So ever since they joined ,did that make the price of cryptocurrencies to go up or was it even going down the more? So what has they been contributing ,if not to their own selfish interest? To be sincere all these people are just fighting for their own selfish interest and nothing else.

So, I am not even excited about any of these. Even Facebook that has joined recently ,I know that there is nothing else that they are joining if not for the same thing, just to make more money and nothing else. I have been seeing post that they are going to use their currency to trace where you buy things online and all that ,and then use the information they get to channel their ads properly lol. So, forget about all these things , they all jumping on crypto due to what they will gain from it and nothing else.

Well, it's a difference if they only use blockchain as a technology or they also incorporated cryptocurrencies into their business. This is not the same thing but people often mix that. Using blockchain doesn't necessary be connected with using crypto.
Anyway, both blockchain and use of cryptocurrencies in businesses is a good promotion and helps to raise awarness of people about these technologies and possibilities of their usage in different industries but doesn't necessary increase the adoption.

It doesn't matter how they want to swing it. If they were truly "entering" into crypto, they'd be learning to use Bitcoin, they'd be advocating for it. Accepting it. Paying staff salaries in Bitcoin. Promoting open source. Getting people to actually devote some resources to improving and developing it.

So yeah, doesn't matter if they're all developing their own crypto or blockchain. They're in it for the money. Nothing wrong with that either. Just no need to pretend otherwise.

Some. People though, they just think that if a giant industry should take part in cryptocurrency it would make cryptocurrency to start getting adopted. Yes giant industries will create more awareness for cryptocurrency but that doesn't mean that people will start making use of cryptocurrency.

Lots of people are afraid of the volatile nature of cryptocurrency and they don't want to lose their money in it. Then that's when you talk about stable coins, you will get to notice that people as well don't like stable coins as well, because they don't see any need for it, since no profit is coming. They just confused… The truth is that they just don't like it.

More of them are taking part in this Blockchain and cryptocurrency business day by day and I believe that when Facebook is done with releasing this Libra coin thing there are going to be a lot of companies that will start to take part in the cryptocurrency industry.

Though, I saw a news recently where Trump was saying that he doesn’t like the cryptocurrency that Facebook is releasing, said he’s not a fan of that. Does that mean that they are going to start tackling Facebook or what? I like cryptocurency, but this Facebook I might not be part of it, cause it might not be that useful to me, unless maybe I see it being accepted in places that I use frequently online.

Walt Disney? = Dragonchain

UPS = Blockchain tech integration

Citi ? = They do create their own Centralized shitty CITICOIN

They havent enter yet some of them are still on consideration state.

Thank you for this needed clarification because a lot of people would not even take their time to understand the nature of such release and the underlying factors that surrounds its implementation before rejoicing over what it is all about. Its not news that we have seen releases about Companies setting out to start to accept crypto or even waiting to implement their own blockchain solution module but eventually we didn't see anyone coming into fruition up till date. Hopefully in the near future we can have something to rejoice on but now, they are mere speculations.

You missed out on Signet and JPM. Also Goldman sachs is willing to enter the crypto space. Of course everyone is talking about Libra now. But don't forget about Pedro.. an entire country- albeit a shitty country - is supporting that coin. These are all giants in their own rights.

Okay, these are giant companies but they can't really push cryptocurrency forward. There are companies that will get involved and it will encourage a lot of people to start making use of cryptocurrency, just like Amazon. If Amazon starts accepting cryptocurrency I think a lot of their customers might decide to try out cryptocurrency, especially Bitcoin to see how it works and get to know everything about it and it might even attract more investors. But the way I see it, these people are never going to be part in crypto they would rather create their own and try to convince investors to take part in theirs. Imagine that there was nothing like altcoins and we have only Bitcoin and everyone was putting all these efforts towards Bitcoin alone… then it would have gotten far by now.

Not to be a party pooper but no, most of us aren't here because of the tech. I can even guarantee you, most people here haven't even really used the tech (blockchain), much less understand it. I know a whole group of crypto traders who've never actually used a proper wallet, everything is on an exchange, they never stored a single crypto on their own private key. And they all call themselves experts.

That’s really cool, although I have never heard anything about these companies you have mentioned being part of the Blockchaintechnology, just like Disney… someone here mentioned Dragonchain, is that the name of their own cryptocurrency or another Blockchain that they personally manage? The name kinda sucks tho’. Citi? Don’t know anything about all these companies being part of crypto/Blockchain. The only thing that is trending on the media today is Facebook being creating their own cryptocurrency. I once heard from my friend that Microsoft also has a project that they are working on, but I don’t know what that is.

OP, I believe you are mistaken, they are only using blockchain and not cryptos as you mentioned. blockchain is being used by many big companies. while cryptos is not being used by many big companies and I believe it to be because of regulatory issues

Exactly, those companies mentioned as using the technology behind bitcoin, but it doesn't mean that they are going to involved themselves or at least invest on bitcoin as the OP might suggest.

But I would agree that we have a bright future, easily if bitcoin will be adopted by on-line merchants as mode of payment.
But at least on these big companies they might be aware on bitcoin existence yet they would normally try to know on whats
the origin of blockchain technology and whom the first thing who have used it which is bitcoin. They might have created on their
own but who knows if they would consider btc option later on.

the lack of regulation and pressure that many governments and banks make can be a very strong reason why these companies keep a large distance from bitcoin, another point that makes these companies move away from bitcoin is the high volatility that bitcoin has. is a situation that will not change so soon, maybe two years from now, but for now it's not worth creating high expectations

Since Libra doesn't launch until Q1-Q2 2020, there will likely be other huge partners jump on board, which can only mean good things for the industry as a whole.

I like your point, with this, I think Libra is behind the reason of the bitcoin pump, institutional investors are accumulating in preparation for the big adoption created by facebook. They don't work alone, they have partners and every partner they have, already have clients and users under them.

Actually, if you look at Facebook's Calibra, you'll see that there have been some other heavyweights express an interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain.

The 28 founding members of the Libra association include a few big 'ole companies, such as Visa, MasterCard, Ebay and Spotify, and these are just the beginning.

Since Libra doesn't launch until Q1-Q2 2020, there will likely be other huge partners jump on board, which can only mean good things for the industry as a whole.

Here we go again... When people will learn that crypto and blockchain isn't same thing. None of these companies haven't entered into crypto recently. Fact that they are interested in Blockchain technology is pretty much meaningless for crypto markets.

But at least on these big companies they might be aware on bitcoin existence yet they would normally try to know on whats
the origin of blockchain technology and whom the first thing who have used it which is bitcoin. They might have created on their
own but who knows if they would consider btc option later on.
I have no doubts that these companies know about Bitcoin, but they are no signs that they're interested in it. For example lot of banks are interested in usage of Blockchain technology, but it's not likely at all that they will start using crypto. Also, companies which have manage huge numbers of data also interested in blockchain, but many of these companies aren't even related to online payments, I don't see how they could start using crypto.

They are not the only ones that are making use of Blockchain. Facebook has released their own cryptocurrency and some has been saying that Amazon will likely be accepting the Facebook libra coin for purchase on their online shopping site, because the libra coin is from one of the biggest names and it is also a stable coin. Also I have seen people who are saying they are not going to make use of the Facebook coin because they are believing that it will be another strategy for Facebook to be tracing their moves online, like knowing where they are spending the coins and what they are buying with it.

Best explanation.

We can't blame others for understanding blockchain = crypto. It's already tied to crypto so whenever there are news about a 'x' company will start using blockchain technology, they assume they will accept crypto.
