Cablepair... why not create a new topic for your ASIC products separate from this thread?  I assume that'll help focus on the ASIC news/updates and help unclutter the two different designs .

Also.. would you plan on ever accepting PayPal as payment?  I don't have a bank account (don't ask why people) and I have exactly 1.22BTC in my wallet.  Just wondering here. Tongue

Trust me, these default swaps will limit the risks
I'm excited because I've never owned an FPGA. I have already purchased an bASIC from you weeks ago though. Grin

I AM GIVING AWAY A FREE MODMINER QUAD 840Mh/s FPGA MINING DEVICE EVERY SINGLE WEEK IN OCTOBER!

(Q) What do I have to do to win a Free ModMiner Quad 840Mh/s FPGA Mining Device?

(A) You must change your signature title ...

I must say, I'm disappointed.  I was not real surprised to see BFL doing this, but I had thought you were above this sort of thing.

Did you really have to use a large bold font with colors, on 4 lines?  It's way more prominent than the message body.

Do you really think that anyone who is serious enough to plop down $599 for an asic miner is not already aware of all of the product offerings, and will be swayed by seeing a signature ad?

I am giving away over $4000.00 in FPGA bitcoin mining hardware just for changing someone's signature. I think thats pretty generous.

Also it is within the forum guidelines of allowable signatures and breaks no current forum rule or regulation.

I had to do something to at least attempt to level the advertising playing field.

BFL outbid me on all the bitcointalk advertising slots while I was at my grand mothers funeral, and won 8 out of 10 advertising slots - I was left with ZERO (wmXchange was generous enough to sell me one of his)

When I came back and let BFL know the only reason they were able to get all those advertising slots was because I was busy with my grandmothers Funeral

BFL_Josh actually made a sexually charged joke directed at my deceased grand mother.

if you want to read it for yourself you can here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1218174

BFL has at least 75% of the market share for ASIC pre-orders

I am just trying to even things out.

For me and my grandmother.

If that disappoints you - than I am very sorry. If you currently have an order with us and would like a refund due to my advertising policies than please let me know your order # and I will refund your money immediately

Thanks for everyone who is participating and good luck to win a free modminer!

BFL has already plenty of free publicity.

It's advertising and lets BFL know that they don't hold sway over everyone.  I'm not sure why it's disappointing?

I say that we have made some drastic changes lately and I do not have something that is physically close to a production board available to me at the moment (although they are coming soon just read the announcement from friday) frankly I can't promise something I don't know the answer to. I can't and I wont.

I could have my engineers calculate a pretty good guess - but I dont want to be wrong and have to change my answer later, thats really not my style.

As soon as i have the actual power consumption numbers I will publish them, but dont worry you wont have to wait much longer now. Smiley

Can you at least give an upper cutoff? Something along the lines of "The 54GH/s board won't consume more than 200W."

Earlier statements were that the 27 gh/s version would use less power than the modminerquad which is 40 W.. It is probably better to wait for a prototype though.

Fair enough. I respect you for not throwing out a number that you're not sure about, unlike another ASIC vendor I know  Roll Eyes! Also, I understand the situation you're in with the recent revamp of the product line. I will be anxiously awaiting your power specifications.

I have one more question for you, thanks in advance for being so open and being here to answer questions about your product.

Can I get a guesstimate on the latest time I could pre-order and still receive my unit with the first production batch, or am I already too late? Thanks!

Good Luck!

Aw man, really? Sucks to have been a lurker for month+ and just register today!  Undecided

I know many people have asked this question of you Tom, but I haven't really seen a good answer to the question.

The opposition (BFL) is touting 1Gh/Watt and this is one thing that they have that you don't at the moment. To all of us consumers here, power consumption is a very important stat to consider when deciding who to pre-order with. Every day that passes by that you don't have the power specs is another day that BFL can advertise they have the best Gh/Watt ratio, which is a very compelling argument considering you guys are hovering around the same price point.

I urge you not only for me as a potential customer but as a "business advisor" that if you want your ASIC pre sales to really take off and compete with BFL in a big way, this information needs to be published as soon as possible.

IF your Gh/Watt numbers are anywhere close to BFLs, I will snap order 10 54Ghs bASICs tomorrow. That's a promise. What say you?

Cablepair,

Will bASICs work under Win7 64bit?

My understanding DC power adopter is not included? any recommendations or specs which dc adopter best fit for these bASICs, specifically 27G unit?  is it 12V at 5amp? and what kind of barrel is required?

thanks

He hasn't released any power information yet, except for the connectors (Molex and DC barrel type). Based on these connectors, I can't see power exceeding 70-80watts.

As for OS, since he has supported Win7 64bit with his FPGA's, I can definitely see he'll support it for his ASIC's.
