In this very thread he expected to have prototypes to the software developers in Oct so I anticipate a Nov/Dec launch. Hoping for even earlier though!

If you are mining at home and you DO get hit by a DDoS, generally all it takes is a MAC change on your computer or router to get a new IP.

Now if you have a static IP as part of a hosting agreement or something it might be harder to escape, like Deepbit has been seeing. The DDoS attacks have been against the centrally located Pool servers, not the miners.

If you are worried about DDoS, use P2Pool yourself or if you have a high enough hashrate there are private pools operated by several of the majors. I know BTCGuild has a private DNS entry available to some, although with the Stratum switchover I believe that they are passing all actual pool traffic to the same IP.
Well ... unless the pool gives out IP address (or someone hacks the pool and watches for your IP address - or some evil service provider tracks the pools traffic and gives the details away) I can't see how anyone but the pool OP would know your IP from mining on a normal pool

If you use P2Pool then yes anyone else on P2Pool can get your IP address

Eh?

You can run almost anything through tor.

cgminer also has various proxy options that also work with tor proxies

... though I'd wonder why anyone would mine through tor since it will increase network lag which will probably increase rejects, delay LP info etc

my concern for anyone buying enough of these is that he'd attract the attention, via IP, of hackers or DDoS attacks as what's happened to Deepbit.

Will bASICs work under Win7 64bit?

My understanding DC power adopter is not included? any recommendations or specs which dc adopter best fit for these bASICs, specifically 27G unit?  is it 12V at 5amp? and what kind of barrel is required?

Interesting comparing bASIC's new pricing with the competitions new pricing, bASIC still wins on performance/price using the 54GH/s device to compare, or even 28 of them to compare to 1.5TH/s Smiley

Also I have some other really great news.

We originally commissioned to have two nearly identical boards designed, one with enough ASIC chips to equal 27Gh/s and another board with the same setup except to accommodate twice that number of ASIC chips or 54Gh/s


After going over the financials today I think it makes sense to change the 1069.99 unit to the 54Gh/s model and sell the design originally intended for 27Gh/s at 599.99

Which means if you currently have purchased a 27Gh/s model it is now a unit capable of a minimum of 54Gh/s

I've ordered 2 yesterday, however since that my cc company dosent allow me to pay so much in such a litle period of time I emailed Tom.

The problem with not returning a share until the end of a nonce range will not be as big of an issue with higher hash speeds.

A BFL Single takes what, ~5 seconds to complete a nonce range and submit a share? With a 10 second window, this is pretty significant.

A 54GH/s ASIC will take less than 1/10 of a second to complete a nonce range and submit a share, so the effect on p2pool should be lower, even if it does work this way.

I just ordered 8 of the 54Gh/s variety.  bit-pay has improve a lot since I used them for BFL.  I actually got confirmation that I paid!

You should have went for the terahash trifecta, it would have cost you about 10000 less than BFL.

I suspect they are composed of the same underlying components.  Tom indicated earlier it wasn't one chip driving it, there are multiples.  As in 27 would be 3x9, and 54 would be 3x18.  Therefore if there's a shortage of one, there's a shortage of the other.

Are they really going to build and ship all of those orders without building or shipping any of the "lite" model in that time?

I suppose it's possible.

I wonder how long the order line is by now.  If I ordered one today, how many weeks after the first shipment went out would it be until it shipped?

I'd love to see an order tracking thread started like exists for a competing asic product.  I would start one myself, but I don't want to maintain it...
