I understand that it may not be legally accepted in your country which i think virtually all countries have not openly declared support for the use of cryptocurrency, but that is not to say they will not attend to any case that has to do with fraudulent acts, pour countries are not as useless and wicked as that, so since they said you should report to a local authority, I think that you should do that so that they can hasten up the process, but make sure that such local authority if one that would even understand what cryptocurrency is all about, except that you want to take time to fully explain it to them to understand.

Every exchange has their policy, and you cannot compare some of those highly reputable standard exchanges to hitbtc, they will not help you in anyway except you do exactly what they ask of you if you want your money recovered.

First of all, it is your responsibility to secure your account, you have to maximize what ever the site is offering to make sure no one can access your account but only you. Take note that any person can easily pretend that their account was hacked. Lastly, the warning is all over the forum, do not store Bitcoins in your exchange wallet.

Wow, hitbtc is not freezing an account and returning the money to the original address because some guy said so!

Don't get me wrong, hitbtc is one crappy exchange but what do you suppose they should do, listen to every guy that claims he has been hacked and return the money?  You could have invented everything, you could have used a VPN to access your gate.io account "fraudulently" then pay some guy and now once you see the money arriving at some exchange you want to have the cake and eat it also.

It's pretty normal for them, file a complaint with both gate.io and your police and then try to deal with hitbtc.

And, your trust wall is not making the whole picture looking any better.

If I'm right, you reported to Gate.io and they told you to trace the money and once you discover where it was sent you should report back to them? Why then are you taking the matter into your hands when you should have reported back to Gate.io to handle it themselves by reaching out to Hitbtc? If they did, I believe that HitBtc would cooperate better with them.

It's not every company that likes handing out information that has to do with their customers to just anyone, no matter the case you report. It's just like Network companies, if you're having a problem with any of their customers, you're first going to report to the police station and the police will then reach out to them to hand out the information. So that's the same thing with this Hitbtc problem you're having. But, I still suggest that you report back to Gate.io just like they have told you.

Due to my clipboard hacking, A fund was sent to the hacker's wallet. I contacted ( within next minute) my exchange Gate.io and they are very much helpful and showed a good approach to help me. They suggested me to trace the fund and notify them if I see the fund goes to a platform. I traced the fund and the fund was sent into another wallet and then to Hitbtc platform. I notified them immediately and the whole thing was just in few hours. But Hitbtc took almost 36-48 hours to respond to me in that case and in the meantime, I chatted on their telegram group several times with several admins. Though they were saying to me that I should have a solution at the soonest time but later what I got is really unacceptable.
They are saying me to report to the local police and then the police will contact them and they will share the details, other than that, they won't do anything. On the other hand, our county has no specific regulation or law about crypto but it was stated not to use this type of asset. If I go to a report about this, I might be facing different laws issue. Why they are not helpful. I know one of my friends who had a similar issue and Binance helped him to recover the fund with some process. Why they can't do that? if they need my local law guidance though crypto is not legal in my country, why they are accepting users from my country? If I need to be a centralized law follower, how they can operate their business including my country? Can anyone help me in that case?
Thanks

Looking at the state of your problem now, it will be very difficult for hitbtc to help you to recover your funds. Once it's been withdrawn out of your account, there is nothing they can do to help you out.  You just need to forget about this and advise yourself to always keep your login info secured and also add other security features to your account.

HitBtc is a really bad exchange and you can't expect that especially with such problems involving our crypto curencies. There are also a lot of people who report hack, phising on that exchange and often don't really pay any attention to it.

So accept it now that your money cannot be returned and it may serve as a lesson for you.

Hitbtc is not responsive enough just like other big exchanges. I know you can provide proof but since there is so much time wasted due to the time before Hitbtc responds to your report, your funds might already successfully withdrawn by the hacker.

I also made a report to Hitbtc for a very long time waiting for 2 days and then there was a reply from the admin, I think the exchange of Hitbtc is unfair in its service and that is what it is very regrettable of,
But if it has been hacked it is hard to return it is better OP is sincere and must be careful next time.

If you report to Hitbtc about your money and ask Hitbtc to freeze other people's accounts, I don't think that's possible because my friend did that two years ago, but that would violate the rules they made too and disturb the comfort of their users, but hopefully you succeed with the evidence, I think you still have time to contact them

When it comes to hacking or stealing funds in a online wallet. It is really hard to make a report to the admin because  they will not take the responsibility on the said incident that they don't have any idea how they will help every user to recover their funds if a hacker have stole all of it, especially if it is a huge amount of money. That is why it will be useless if you will report it to the admin because once you get hacked, your funds will never get back.

Reporting to your local police will not help, their advice is not appropriate, what name and other characteristics you have said when you reported it to the police, nothing right? That's why they just give you advise to stop using this type of asset.

I n the first place, the first suggestion that they've provided to you about reporting the concern to the local police is already a trash suggestion. Not all of the people in the world knows cryptocurrency. Police have many things to accomplish and they will not sit in a table studying how cryptocurrency works especially the transactions. They couldn't even make their own wallets. (Based from our country). Meaning to say that the exchange should solve the issues and they should know not all countries have their police sector who is busy studying cryptocurrency transactions frauds and crimes.

If this happens in my country police will have no idea how they are going to treat this case, Hitbtc has a lot of bad reports on their support, so you need to be very patient on how you are going to approach them, at least they are helping you, you can get a lawyer who knows Cryptocurrency, you can ask a lawyer to create a request under their office, if they refuse to address this issue so you can escalate it to a court but this is going to be expensive on your part but only do this if you want to pursue and these people are not doing something.

Reporting to your local police would be the best as it is the legal way to take an action. But, I'm sad to hear that your country has no specific regulation for this kind of crime, I think it is gonna be really hard for you to take your money back but you should try it. It is also normal if HitBTC can't really help you as they are probably not convinced enough with your case, and they have bad support team since a long time.

There's nothing both exchange can do about your case because it is a total waste of time for them, especially when it has been withdrawn to the local bank account. Your country is not crypto regulated and it's you get ignored by the bank or face legal issues.
Next time, always check the first and last three characters of the wallet address you are withdrawing/sending to.
The thing is the exchange made him hopefully that they were going to do something about it and then they turned around and told him to contact the local law enforcement which means there isn't anything that they can do at all. It's would be better if you just forget the whole thing and assume that your funds has been lost.

Hitbtc can help you in the event of a mistake by them, for example, the wallet has been hacked or bankruptcy, then you can file a case with the lawyer and request a refund.
In the case you mentioned, you should check the address and therefore the platform is not obliged to deal with you.
If the platform is not obliged to deal with you, then the personal data of another customer will not be provided to you. Only by a legal document.
There is a lot of cases that happens in hitbtc but still there is no justice has been given off. Try to chat their support so often so that they will be notified in many ways, or if you have a time call their support if the amount is too big better to get a lawyer and sue to them, in that case you will  get their attention.

Many had been a victim of this kind of situation in the exchange. You may not recover your funds nor catching the hacker. Better next time to secure your funds and account to avoid accessing it and withdraw or transfer your money by the hacker. This is why I never trust easily and store btc in an exchange because of so many issues.
There is no way for him to track the hackers account after that exchange because we all know that there are many way that you can use if you dont want to  be trace using mixer.

About the issue its really hard to decide for that exchange to give you your hacked funds, you are the one who made a mistake. Hacker just using that exchange as a tools to convert it to other currency to lost your track on him on that address.

Besides we dont even know if the account hacker use is verified.

Because they're centralized business and most of the time facing scammers that pretend to be their customers requesting their funds to be recovered. Most exchange also allows non-KYC user but the risk is with you and not theirs. They're not responsible for your registration as most of the time, they already put their ToS which you're (forced to) agreed when you signed up.

I think instead of discussing this, you should clean your computer first, as it's possible there's another malware lurking around and who knows, they might steal your e-mail, credit card, etc data.

The strong reason they cannot help you recover funds is because anyone can give a false report if they trust any reporter automatically everyone will do the same to get their personal benefit no matter how much evidence you give  because it can be detrimental to their exchange if they take the wrong action so as to eliminate investor confidence in them
