Cryptsy will keep HBN offline until cryptodouble works.

Seems like a lot of work, time, and money to attack a coin. Plus what could they do? They can't double spend if a coin is using Auto Checkpoints.  Other attacks are not that damaging, and in fact can be migrated by code.

Still though I wouldn't my coins anywhere I didn't feel comfortable with.

IMO its not about attacking just one POS coin, they are going after all of them in 1 shot, and it would only cost them a fraction of the market caps to succeed. Some Group with a large amount of funds that do not want the POS coins to succeed. They only need to destroy trust in the coin and they win.

Danger Posed at POS Coins by CryptoDouble

Everyone says they are just a Ponzi Scheme,

What if they are really a Trojan Horse.

A Way to Kill POS Coins by mounting a 51% attack.

A POS Community starts sending their coins to Cryptodouble,
And keeps sending them back until they have 26% of a coin,
CryptoDouble then buys up only another 26% and they then control 52% of the coins total amount, then they could hit the coin with a 51% attack and destroy the coin.

Something all POS Communities should consider before sending POS coins to cryptodouble.
Smarter move would be to only send them POW coins, if you are Gambling with your coins.

 Cool

FYI:
If the Exchange Volumes don't increase , then they already have purchased 26% and are waiting for the communites to give them the rest.

Comkort is still running as Normal.

But if you need them to update their wallet software before the 17th.
Under Feedback click Notify About Wallet Update.

As to the Cryptsy deposit issue, this is what they just mailed me:

"Thank you for the information you provided. HBN has been put offline for maintenance and upgrades. It will return soon and we ask for your patience as we work to bring it back online."

So I guess the problem will be solved in a couple of days or so.

When I started my wallet today it stopped responding. There is a line in the debug.log that is confusing me
Code:
Error: Couldn't open socket for incoming connections (socket returned error 10047)
Can anyone help me with this issue? Thanks.

Here is what I found
Quote
WSAEAFNOSUPPORT 10047
Address family not supported by protocol family.
An address incompatible with the requested protocol was used. All sockets are created with an associated address family (that is, AF_INET for Internet Protocols) and a generic protocol type (that is, SOCK_STREAM). This error is returned if an incorrect protocol is explicitly requested in the socket call, or if an address of the wrong family is used for a socket, for example, in sendto.

EDIT: I deleted the conf file and wallet started as usual. Strange ...

FYI. I sent an alert last night to the older clients. This was a high priority alert, as we only have 10 days until the fork. This caused safe mode for old clients.

I think Cryptsy is still on an old client, despite my ticket opened 5 days after 1.5 was released.  For now it looks like deposits are disabled.  They are either upgrading or still stuck in safe mode. Either way I will see what can be done to escalate the issue.
They don't know about update.  Undecided

Cryptsy has been messing up badly since December,
they have 28 Wallets that have been offline for 20 days, and now including HBN, they have 32 wallets offline.

 Cool
Their admins overeaten lazy cattle.

I found them quite cooperative whenever I had a problem. Guess I was lucky! Anyway, since I reported this problem in yesterday as well, I requested them too, to check out their version and upgrade if necessary. Hope they can solve it before 17th.

I closed my 1.5.0.0 wallet yesterday with enabled S4C and restarted it again. After unlocking the wallet for POS, I double clicked the green arrow icon and it showed S4C was working like before I closed the wallet.
But I didn't sent any S4C when I staked a block. Subsequently I disabled S4C en re-enabled it. Now it seems to work fine again.

Maybe some glitch I don't know, I thought I should report it in.

Hmm, the only issue I have seen was if you closed an old 1.4 wallet and opened up it with 1.5, without first disabling s4c. I have closed and opened 1.5 a few times and it seems to keep the s4c. But I will double check and make sure all is well.

HBN is still on Comkort exchange, and they don't delist for low volume like other exchanges.
But almost no one is buying or selling HBN on it.  Very few orders listed.

 Cool

This is merely the condition of the Crypto market atm.  All coins have similar issues, but small ones like HBN suffer more from evaporating activity. Very few people in the Crypto world have any money (fiat) and those that do are afraid of using it.

If you want an answer as to when this changes, I would suggest that when (if) there is a new speculative phase in BTC or another big Crypto, the dormant but technically sound, and well distributed, coins will benefit the most.

Any idea why HBN is not showing up on Coinwarz anymore?

Does it have anything to do with this Block Explorer not having any connections? http://hbn.blockx.info/

How do you think we can get HBN on another exchange like Poloniex?

Happy New Year HBN

Not sure?  The sub page is still active and correct.  http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency/coins/hobonickels

We also have our main Block Explorer here: hbn.cryptocoinexplorer.com/

We've tried to get HBN on other exchanges, and infact we have succeeded. However there is little to no volume, so the site ends up de-listing it.   We can try again, but unless we have someone who will take the roll of MM(market maker), and keep the volume up and trades flowing, it maybe futile.

If someone wants/can do this, it could be a good help, to get and keep another exchange.

EMC2 is working on a crowd funding campaign to help raise funds for scientific research:
http://www.indiegogo.com/project/preview/f5c49cab

Here is an opportunity to promote HoboNickels as a sponsor of the campaign.   Take a look at the sponsor logos and the perks to see how your coin would be promoted.  Let me know if you are interested and to what degree.

I think this is cool. What can we do to get HBN on here? I will add this site to our Charity page: http://hobonickels.info/donate.php.
