An year ago I was have some ethereum in my exchange and after its value fall I sold them and now as the price is again rising and it is going well so I am thinking to buy some ethereum and keep them for the price to increase and for that I will try to keep them in a well trusted exchange as if any bad thing started to happen then I will exchange them immediately.

Storing coin, especially Ethereum in an exchange is not the right choice. The simplest way to store your Ethereum without require any hardware is with use myetherwallet.com

It is recommended to store it online than to create on your pc wallet.
This makes absolutely no sense. Why would it be recommended to store it "online"?

Myetherwallet Works fine with ethereum and other ico tokens' storage. only you know the private key, that's why it's secure to store ethereum tye of things in.

I am just using regular myetherwallet's private file and unlock it if needed.
But I don't hold much budget down there even if they are trustable.
This is also i wanted to say i do also use myetherwallet but i do only put small amounts of ETH and most of it are stored on cold storage because no matter how trustable and reputable the risk of losing all coins is still there and we wont know on when it would happen.Downloading whole blockchain or syncing is really pain in the ass but you must sacrificed if you do really like to store your ETH.

I'm using paperwallets generated from myetherwallet and I am withdrawing from the exchange as much Eth as the daily limit allows me.

I am using exchanges at the moment because I trade a bit but I don't own much ETH. I do have some ETH based tokens though so am using MYETHERWALLET to house those, along with the exchanges. I hope to look into other wallets in the future, when I get more heavily into ETH BASED projects, which is inevitable as many new tokens are being born on the EHTEREUM platform.

Use cold storage. Not safe to leave funds for a long time in exchanges.

Use web wallet https://www.myetherwallet.com not in need of time to synchronization instead of client wallet. Its better choice if it is ERC20 of ethereum.

I've tried to download ethereum wallet but it's so huge and takes a lot of time,so I have no choice but to settle with Jaxx and myetherwallet, anyway both are safe and secure and lightweight compare to the desktop wallet.

Coinbase has been working out fine for me and I trust them to a degree.  I do not trust them on some things that are important, however. I am speaking of privacy. I am also speaking of the length of time that purchases done through Coinbase always take 10 days or more to appear in my wallet  I have much to learn about how to best take advantage of anonymity.  I believe anonymity is important to the future of cryptocurrency.

I only ever kept mine on an exchange as I wasn't ever really pleased with the ETH wallets. Trezor does support storing ETH if you have one and would probably be one of the better methods of storing it.

The regular wallet (mist/geth) took up 20gb the last time i tried it and either has to be running all the time or takes hours to update to use (from what i remember)

Any alternatives, especially liteweight, out there besides just storing them on exchanges?

im using an online wallet for my eth, its safe i thinkg because of the site securities and I believe its safe because my friends are using the same wallet like mine, they are completely trust this wallet like the way i did.

This is what I use as well, it is easy to use and secure enough if you don’t have a lot of funds so you may try it if you like opener.

Come on guys, do you even know how www.myetherwallet.com even works? Do you know what a client-side wallet even is?
You might be right on myetherwallet.com. I was talking about server-side wallets.

But MyEtherWallet is only online, right? And if happens something to the website? Will it be possible to get back the money?

Rule of thumb: forget about 'web wallets'.

I'll say it again: do not store your coins on third parties' servers. This practice goes against the core idea of a decentralized currency and puts your assets at risk.

Always store your coins on a device that you personally own and control. Your least secure option is to use a mobile wallet. There are many mobile wallet apps on the market, but I won't recommend any of them because they inherit all the security flaws of the underlying platform - be it iOS or Android.

A better option is to use a desktop wallet (assuming you're using a Unix-based operating system, i.e. Linux or macOS). Check out Exodus - it's a clean, lightweight, cross-platform wallet app that handles ETH, BTC and a bunch of other assets.

The most secure way is to use a hardware wallet such as Trezor or KeepKey.

Come on guys, do you even know how www.myetherwallet.com even works? Do you know what a client-side wallet even is?

https://www.myetherwallet.com is a nice CLIENT-SIDE (javascript) wallet.

You have to have the wallet.dat on your PC for it to work.
If anything happened to the website, nothing would happen to your wallet.

It's very good if you do not want to download the whole blockchain on your PC and be able to access your wallet from everywhere.

https://www.myetherwallet.com doesn't actually have any of your wallet's information, because it's client-side.

They do however hold a copy of the blockchain so that you don't need to download it.

You can use Jaxx or Myetherwallet if you're worried about space and like the features that they offer (several coins, several gadgets (chrome extension, mobile apps, etc.). It is relatively safe (I believe that you're only 100% free of external interference using hardware or paper wallets). Do some research and give a try on what suits you best.
