I agree jackpot if won can really change one's life. They can get rich in an instance. But the problem lies in how they manage their finance. Lots of people who won in a jackpot often goes back to what status they are since they have a problem in handling their money. They are not ready mentally that they often creates a mistake in decision making wasting all their winnings.
It's not just about the jackpot winners, the problem is our whole society is raised in consumerism
I believe Milton Friedman spoke something about this
We are raised to spend every coin we get as soon as we get it
We are not raised to save money, we're raised to spend it on frivolous things
Who then builds the factories etc.?
This is a large setback from the human kind
And jackpots prove it like nothing else
People who win freaking hundreds of millions of dollars end up broke, simply because our society is like that
Only the few can break the chains and become free
Good point. I think if you won a big jackpot, you don't have to consumed every penny and learn to save it for the rainy days. Because we don't know what the future will bring to us and you don't want to broke isn't it.
