This is a serious question that need an intelligent reply ~~
For me, it is just a common question, nothing special. To get the answer, he actually can use the "search feature" or just read the pinned messages (Lauda has pinned a special guide for newbies https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/newbies-read-before-posting-1689727). If he read it carefully, he doesn't need to ask that question. I know it is a usual or normal question for newcomers, but it is like indicating you are lazy to read as a new one. Sorry, no offense, but to be honest it is what I think personally.

*OP, you must get the answer already. Better to lock this thread now.

"Old songs about the main thing" Gentlemen, to whom do you give advice? Did you see the date of the last visit of the OP? This thread turns into a mega-thread on an empty discussion of the same topic. I urge you to stop writing the same advice, moreover, the OP himself only created one message and was gone. All your efforts to advise how you should and how you should not behave on the forum are simply in vain.

~.... ask questions which you don't have good understanding about
Use the search function first before asking questions. Asking questions while the answer is already one search away from either Google or here in the forum is a a bit annoying.

~
Merit is what everyone wants.
~
It is what everyone wants to have once in a while, but it shouldn't be like the focus of why one should be here in the forum. People forgot to join discussion just because they're chasing for merits too much forgetting that we can all just have a relaxed conversation with any other users here.

I think as a novice, you should be familiar with the rules of the forum.
Merit is what everyone wants.
Your answer is exactly what others want to know, then you may gain merit.
If you want to make money on the forum, take your time, don't be too anxious, and don't send spam.

I don't know why you find it so strange.
Thats simply because your account is newbie anyway, maybe you have a point. Lurking around here isnt about rank. But maybe countering someones post like its been answered many times. Sounded like yout been here for a longg time inspite of your rank. But thats normal, maybe you used guest account and only doing reading here berfore am I right?

You pretty much answered yourself. I have a tendency to familiarize myself with the community before I join, as I have done countless times so far.
It probably has something to do with a trait I inherited from using Usenet many years ago. Things were a lot different then than they are today...

In the beginning as a newbie or a new user in the community you are meant to understand the methods of posting at first before engaging in any conversation or communication, getting merit is the major of the forums but merit is needed to get to new height, so earning Merit is by your reactions towards another person post or creating a topic that is worthy to emulate, so the forum needs to learn from you and you also need to learn from the forum, which i can say that creativity is the primary objectives to earn Merit.

I can agree with you in principle.
From personal experience I can say that the posts with the most merits are those that bring some new information to other members or help in some way.
I think it is normal and logical that everyone will reward a post that helped them in some way, or brought some new information.
I know that many newbie members complain that they don't know much about the crypto industry and therefore can't write quality forum posts.
I think everyone can put in a little effort, explore a certain area and share their knowledge with others, or share some news, you just need to invest some time and work.

There are lot's of things you need to learn first before thinking about how to get merit in the forum there are rules and regulations guiding the forum that's why the forums is still active like this and there are punishment and reward for your post for example if you post something that's meaningful and can have impact on forum user's then you might be given a merit and if you do thing's that are against the forum rules like plagiarism, spamming, scamming. You might endu getting negative trust or been ban so pls I believe you should know familiarize yourself with the forum first before you start thinking about how to get merit.

Well, i think i get it but still have one doubt!
Merit can only be send right?
I mean they're no system (if your activity reach 100 or 1000 plus you'll Automatically receive merit)

Note: To be honest (before i found this Forum) the hole time i thought i'll Automatically receive merit if my activity goes higher.
Yes, what the user @DdmrDdmr said is very relevant  Smiley

Well, just to reiterate
Merit = you can get
sMerit = you can send

For every 2 merits received, you receive 1 sMerit.
This type of process was implemented on the forum, because the users do not cheat exchanging merits/smerits each others

Another detail I would like to share is, in this forum, there are merit source users, they are one of the main influencing factors of merits here on the forum, as they distribute newly minted merits.

In this topic, @theymos explains how you can become a merit source  Smiley
If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections.

If Merits were to be dependent on the level of Activity one has, they’d be rather much redundant, and would not contribute to reducing spam by incentivising decent content, which is one of the main drivers behind the Merit System.

Accounts prior to the Merit System kick-off did receive their initial Merits as a kind of airdrop, equivalent to their rank at the time (i.e. Member -> 10 Merits, Full Member -> 100 and so forth). That took place on the 25/01/2018, and was a one time event to provide consistency to the existing account’s rank at the time.

Merits can’t be sent. This is a typical misconception made by many (I believe I thought they were too when I started). The Merit counter never decreases (unless you’ve been really naughty).

What you can send are sMerits (sendable merits), which have been discussed both in prior posted content on this thread, and referenced links (no need therefore for me to go into details).

If you are lucky the seniors will give you merit.
Your above points are right but the last part is not correct as merits are not distributed randomly to anyone and those who are lucky will get them.If your posts are of good quality and have some useful information for the reader's you will definitely receive merit for them. You might not get them on spot or immediately after posting but can get them some time after when high rank members noticed them.

But if you think your post are good but not merited report them in Report unmerited good posts to merit sources and if they find it suitable you will get the same.

But don't think merits are given or distributed on luck based factors but completely dependent on what you are posting and your knowledge which is reflected in your post quality.Work hard for them and you will get them.

Hello Cleft, welcome to BitcoinTalk forum  Smiley

What is merit and how can I get it?
Briefly explained, merit is something like Facebook's "Like" button.
But there is a difference, you can't send "merit" all the time, it wouldn't make sense to have user rankings on this forum.
Every 2 merits received, you earn 1 sMerit, which gives you the right to send it to a determined user, but most of the time people send merit when a user makes an interesting post/topic!

What's the main porpuse of the forum and how can it be achieved?
Basically this is no secret :p

I suggest you read the forum rules, try to understand how BitcoinTalk works and get a systemic view of how it works.

• Share your knowledge with everyone
• Create quality topics that can help others members
• Participate in interesting debates
• Be curious
• Participate, be an interactive member, talk with others, help others users

ps: don't be discouraged, in the past I was like you, newbie and didn't have much knowledge about this forum.
Day after day I participated in debates, conversations, etc, and today I am Sr. Member!  Cheesy
if I did it, you can do it as well
Work hard and trust in yourself! Smiley

Good luck

If you are aiming to get merit per post you will just get stress for your unmerited post made so better enjoy what knowledge you can learn here but make sure you are relevant to discussion since that is more important so that you will not tag as spam. But also be informative like posting some good contents or helping a certain member regarding to what they are seeking and you might get a merit for that. But anyways its good thing you follow the suggestion given by the community members, also I do hope you will became a good member and not became a troll since there are so many trolls already and its really not good to see any additional one here.

There is no need to ask questions that have already been answered a million times and the answers are readily available.
How do you know the above question has been asked a million times and answered a thousand times when you have just admitted that you are still a newbie? Really intrigued me.

Many newbie don't even know what they are going to post first and where to post it. That's what I actually experienced from the first time. Afaik, not many newbie are interested in gambling or following games and Round since he/ she first posted. It is funny.

I don't know why you find it so strange. This isn't the first forum I've encountered. It may be that I am part of an older generation of users here, so I am more at home in forums than, say, new social networks that I can't even name. Most of the forums I know have similar rules, and one of them is "Read before you post," which is especially important for new members. The topic Rengga Jati has already recommended is one that I personally find very helpful. As you may have noticed, I didn't register here yesterday, but I have full access to the forum as a newbie, just like a senior member. And I spent much time lurking on this site before I even registered.

Even though I'm new to the world of cryptocurrencies, gambling has always been one of my favorite pastimes. In fact, this isn't even the biggest gambling community I'm a member of.

First of all, where did you this forum from?
Is the one that told you about this forum talking about "merit" first?
because you asked about "Merit" at first and then you asked about this forum.
So, I suggest you read more and more information about Bitcointalk.org first.
You will get a lot of information about this forum by reading as many threads, moreover, in this Beginners and Help board, there are some pinned messages that are important to read.
Especially this:
Newbies - Read before posting
Once more, Read before posting...

And honestly, you will not get any merit if you only post and leave your thread like this.
I see you only have 1 post and 1 activity and you don't give any replies here, hopefully, you are trying to read the answers from the members here and trying to read much more information and learn.
