To be successful on this forum, I will advise not to prioritize merits hunt first, because you will be so disturbed and distracted from the main focus you're expected to give to the forum while learning, merit is earned and what places you to that capacity of receiving merits is on the quality of what you contributed and how the members feels like in giving you, merit was introduced to lay low spammers and trollers from ranking up, if you think you're not one then work on yourself and give your best and merit will flow.

Check those links given by the other members, it's good if you keep yourself knowledgeable about the current topic or the topic you want to know by that you can learn from the other member's experiences and deal with those, by that you will understand how it works and later on you will now even solve those issues in your own in the future, those contributions and effective way of suggestion got merit as your good quality effort. Don't chase the merit, chase the knowledge.

Act very naturally and try your best to try to learn more and get to know the members' posts and how to work in the forum, then you will see that you have started to receive the Merits automatically.

Constructive posts and good topics, whether it is questions or new information, is the best way to receive Merits, but you have to do it naturally, meaning with the aim of discussion and really learning, without caring whether you got Merits or not.

It may take some time but I am sure you will get good results in the end.

It can be said that the OP is not new to crypto. It appears from the posts that you, OP, are trading and familiar with Bitcoin, so I think it won't be a problem for you to move up the ranks. Furthermore, it all depends on your activity. You have a big break in posting, just visit the forum more often and share your knowledge, I'm sure you will get what you desire quickly. Good luck. Merit from me as motivation. Smiley

Important. How to do it is what needs to be learnt. My advice is not to chase merit, but to spread the knowledge you have in writing because we need it here.
Even if you want merit, just go to the threads and fulfil the requirements.

OP, visit this suggested topic;

Again, don't focus on merit but focus on how others can benefit from what we say.

Can you guys suggest any advice thanks a lot!
You seem still hanging for advice 😉

Eat it!
Be a scam buster LOL
Sinuously, go check everyone's profile, police them and open reputation thread for them, ask others to help you to find evidence.

Go to altcoin announcement board check every project that are launching their ANN. Look for plagiarism, or missing team members. You don't need to even look for anything. Start just by saying the domain registered a month or week ago. 🤣

You can also look for bounty cheaters. Link the addresses they posts and accuse them for bounty cheating.

Another one is to find alt accounts. You don't need much thing to do. Just tell that they are changed hand. Quote few posts and booyah! You will become a hero.

Or just go and speak against the sportsbook that is hated by a specific group of people LOL

Hi I'm a newbie here and would love to ask for advices on how to have a good background here?

Is merit important and should I interact more?

Can you guys suggest any advice thanks a lot!
First of all, if you have registered on this forum to learn about Bitcoin, then you should spend more time learning about Bitcoin. And if you get enough knowledge, you yourself will be able to write articles to teach others. The question of how to get/earn merit will take your aim in different directions. It is important to clear the objective first, because if you post effectively and those posts are helpful to other members, you will already get a lot of merit.

Since we have similar rank positions, it would be rude for a newbie to give advice.
The desire for something will be realized depending on the effort.
Since I joined the forum on November 06, 2022, you can see for yourself that my activities are only 22 (including this post). At first glance, I am a user who has a habit of being a little lazy.
Maybe if I am the opposite of lazy, namely actively reading and writing according to the topic of discussion, at least we are not in the current position even though it is not necessarily achieved.

I'm not trying to say or insinuate you, but I'm talking about my bad habits.
Yes, maybe from some threads that have been around for a long time, I can understand that merit is important and how to get it based on what I have read by making quality posts, namely informative posts and posts that contain solutions to trending problems.

Merit is important, but shouldn't be your first chase on this forum, you will need time to learn and grow first, after which much shall be required of you as well to offer to the community growth, from the quality of what you offered, members may got touched from what you're contributing and on their wish they may merit your post, also if you think you're posting good enough to receive merits, you can apply to some merit giveaway threads but they only give to quality post that meet up to their required standard.

Hi I'm a newbie here and would love to ask for advices on how to have a good background here?
What do you exactly mean the background here? If you are saying about having sufficient knowledge then it would come by learning with time and spending time on forum reading different threads that will enhance your knowledge giving you solid background but if you mean something else then specify about it?

Is merit important and should I interact more?
I would say merits are important only to increase your rank but most importantly you should focus on increasing your knowledge and interacting more here with others actively engaging in healthy discussions that will help you to gain knowledge which will eventually help you in writing quality posts and you will automatically get merits. So you see how this prime goal of growing yourself up from knowledge perspective will help you to accomplish all other goals. So as newbie just gain as much you can.

I will take note of this. Since I still don't have any idea why people chase merits all I know is that it can cause you to have a good background! And I agree when posting a topics that are educative.
Merit is needed to rank up, that is one of the conditions that you must fulfill so that you can rank up.

I'm having fun by learning new things in here by just reading and interacting with people, I'm suprised how helpful people in here. Thanks a lot!
Of course, you should get used to interacting with multiple forum users, not just on one board, but across multiple boards or elsewhere if you understand the topic and know what to write about. This will encourage you to gain knowledge, and of course it will also help you earn merit. Good luck.

How can I increase my merit?
I just checked your profile and you don't have any merits let alone asking how to increase it.
The right question you should ask is, "how can I earn merits?"
To answer how you will earn merits.
First you have to understand what you are good at, develop more on it and then start helping people solve their problems.
The more problems you solve here, the more merits you will have.
So you have to give out something in order to recieve.
But do not be too merit conscious, because if you are, you may never earn it.

Hi I'm a newbie here and would love to ask for advices on how to have a good background here?
Knowledge that you have, thoughts that you have is very much appreciated here, whether it's about Bitcoin, crypto wallets, development, reputation, speculation, economics, law and so on you can see on every discussion board, including in your local Philippines, what do you have about it, that's the best background if you have it.

Is merit important and should I interact more?
Achievement is certainly the most important thing for your achievement to the next level, interaction is certain, but meaningful.

Is merit important and should I interact more?
What's your reason for registering an account here on the forum? If it's to learn more about Bitcoin and invest a bit when you've acquired more knowledge, then the forum ranks and politics should not really bother you. Merits would more or less be pats on the back for an educative post or response.

But if you are more focused on advancing in the forum, knowing how it works beyond the rules and maybe entering a signature campaign, then you should understand how ranks work.

Secondly, you should not interact more than you wish to. If reading and learning without commenting works for you, do that

Write quality content and try to be helpful and you won't have any issues getting merit. Write shitposts and spam posts and you won't get any merit, no matter how many posts you create.

Generally speaking: Try to find your way around the forum, read up, learn about the forum features and try to help other members. Then you won't have any problems getting merit.

(Reminder: Don't beg for merit. Please don't like that and won't give you any, if you're begging.)

One more thing before I forget, plagiarism results in a permanent ban and there's no second chance. So be sure to cite the sources from quotes or articles.
Plagiarism is a most hardest rule in Bitcoin talk even it has been handled less strictly past two years. It is still one of rule every member should keep in mind.
33. Posting plagiarized content is not allowed.[e]

  • Plagiarism: If you copy some text from somewhere, then you should have a good reason for it, and you must link to the source. Doing otherwise is plagiarism. Changing a few words around doesn't matter. If we find that you plagiarized, then you absolutely will be permanently banned, even if we find it years after you did it.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/signature-campaign-guidelines-read-this-before-starting-or-joining-a-campaign-1684035.0
Warning: Anyone caught copying other users' posts or plagiarising content from elsewhere on the web will be immediately permabanned. You shouldn't need a warning to know that this isn't acceptable under any circumstances.

Plagiarsism QA topics. I don't think new topics about plagiarism are necessary including good guidelines to avoid plagiarism and permanent ban.

Looking to your profile it seems that you're account registered May 12, 2019 which is in this upcoming may 12 you are exactly 4 years here in forum. You are still newbie in rank but not here in forum.  But anyways the most and effective way to earn merit is to contribute to the forum by sharing your ideas about crypto also hard work will be paid you soon, and you should avoid any mistakes so That your account will be live longer and don't forget the forum rules. Once again welcome and good luck to your journey.

And when you post a new topic, let it be educative and have meaning rather than asking questions that will only fetch merits to good posts underneath.
I disagree with this, that you should only make a new topic when you want to educate others and not when you want to ask question and its one of the common misconception that cause newbies getting into troubles, thinking that they have to be knowledgeable in order to get merit so they plagiarize someone else's content.

Its perfectly normal thing to come to a forum asking for help with something (or simply wanting to learn more) and sometimes this can be more worthwhile than a generic newbie guide we often see in Beginners & Help board that is nothing but a merit fishing.
