The only thing that I could think that will help us to overcome gambling addiction "is to LOCKED ourselves to any gambling connection even our friends or our relatives. Cause I know it is really to get out from addiction if we still have a connection to it...but above all, it gonna depend on how sincere you are in doing this.

I've never been particularly addicted to gambling, but even though I do agree to some extent that doing other things might be more difficult for some than others, finding new hobbies and ways to earn money in my free time was what helped me start gambling less and made me a much more productive person today. If you find something you truly enjoy and are passionate about, it can be easy to become absorbed into this activity and might help you overcome your gambling addiction.

Finding professional help is also always an option if you recognize that you have a gambling addiction but you don't quite know what to do. This can be much more effective than anything else suggested here.

Gambling addiction stories are quite commonly heard all around. I heard one such story that took place with one much known person. In my country one can end his living in a much comfortable manner with $200000. The person whom I'm talking about has lost more than $200000 in gambling. Another thing his concentration from the business got distracted, which gave him the source of income. By now he have once again started from the scratch.

Your uncle can overcome his addiction if he really wants to change. A lot of people tried to say that they wanted to stop gambling yet you can still see them playing. Why? It's because they're not serious about it. Make yourself busy with the things you like. Work, travel, and more. In that case you wouldn't have too much time for gambling. Also, overcoming addiction doesn't necessarily mean that you'll stop gambling. It's about controlling yourself when you gamble. Why would you stop doing what you like right? When you can do it in a healthy way

Overcoming gambling addiction is actually not hard, as long you surely wanted to quit gambling or to stop playing gambling. A lot of people also have stopped being addicted in gambling by just doing other things or activities instead of gambling like playing sports or working out because getting focusing on making yourself a great shape will really help you to lose your focus in gambling.

First of all having the intention of gambling is to make more money from what they have should be changed if they really wanted to get away from addiction.Gambling can bring wins but not profits, means only very people can change their life with their fortune but others are keep making the gambling site or casino owners more rich.

Only the individual can change it and for that rehab centers will help them.

There's a story that my mom told me, it's about my uncle who once became a gambling addict that there comes a time where he sold most of their things in their house just to find money to gamble. The worst thing that my uncle did is to pledge their house just to satisfy his gambling pleasures.

I know it's not easy to overcome this situation especially when you're already in your point that you want to get back everything that you have lost. You keep on gambling thinking you can earn everything back. Actually, we're already lucky enough if we continuously win the game but even our luck has its own limitations. Without noticing it, our wins are slowly turning into losses.

I also know that some of us here will just put their attention on different things to avoid too much gambling. But in reality, it's just easy to say but harder to do. There's no easy way if you really got attached to gambling. But in your opinion or personal experiences, how do you overcome your addiction to gambling?

The way to overcome as social vice like addiction to gambling is not to get addicted in the first place. People who have been addicted and lost a lot before coming back to their senses would agree that the best way is not to get involved because there are some point that people will get to in gambling that what follows is a spiral downwards and nothing else can be done but for someone who is not there yet, the simple way out which I would continue to recommend is to start getting your attention on other productive ways to make money because the quest to make money in a sharp and easy way is mostly the motive that lead people to gambling.

You are not doing a great start, my friend, posting on the Gambling discussion? It's filled with gambling temptations here and not just the signatures but the topics as well. It might give you the urge, though. If you are serious about stopping your bad habit, you should focus on other activities. Maybe try some Art making or something recreational for you.

It's always up to the person to change themselves. It's hard to do, but it's worth it in the end. As long as you don't just say the words and do it, and you will be fine.

Uuhhh...  This is the section of the forum where you're encouraged to give in to your gambling addiction, not overcome it.  Lolol.  Cheesy

which is why this is also a great board to post on how to overcome gambling addiction where a lot of gamblers can see it. but then again, gamblers will decide what to do about their habit/addiction.
but it is always great to see that there are threads like this letting people know what effects gambling addiction can have on your life and the people that close to you.

But in your opinion or personal experiences, how do you overcome your addiction to gambling?

in my own experience, I stopped or at least controlled my gambling habit before it became worse. having the will and discipline to control yourself will greatly help you through it.
but it is hard and the only reason I was able to overcome it is that I am fully aware of it and realize my responsibility with my family and the consequences that will befall if I don't stop.

How do we really overcome our gambling addiction? Simply by ignoring first some invites of your friends to play and gamble your money, but if you are already addicted on it, it would be really hard for you to stop on it maybe you need some medications or some therapy in order for you to go back on your normal life and get lost about thinking on gambling, psychology therapist is the best or the one will help you the most because there are the one who can tell you what your mind is going into and how you will relieved your addiction into gambling.

Gambling addiction is really hard to overcome because i once experienced getting addicted in gambling and it takes me months to recover myself from my gambling addiction by putting all of my attention in different things like going to the gym, playing sports, computer games, and bonding with your family or friends. I kinda agree that it's easy to say but harder to do, but i got stay away from gambling with the help of my family that they always watch me, so i could really control myself in gambling.

If you are deeply addicted you need help from your family and professional, I'm not that really addicted I can always find a way to not play even if I have money to play, there's a lot of things to do in life besides gambling, I only gamble at spare time and if time permit me.

I've once been addicted to gambling it's a bad thing to think that gambling is the cure to earn, it's not a way of living, it's not the proper way to earn it's just a past time or let's say a recreational thing.

It's true that it's easy to say to avoid gambling and focus on other thing well it's up to the gambler if he really wants to stop gambling he/she should control himself/herself to do gambling and stay as much as possible, if the gambler told that he/she do it for fun and not to earn or to recover her/his losses an alternative is to download casino games and play using game tokens for free.

If the user desperately wanted to recover his/her losses and really addicted and can't help itself I suggest to seek a professional to this matter.
