But one thing I noticed is that many people spend hours upon hours here, like really long hours, which made me think, like how come?

Do you guys make a living commenting and being here or are you really that passionate about web3/ crypto and blockchain?

Some user field of work is related to programming or online work which is why they can open and use the forum at the time with there job. Besides just leaving your forum account login on a separated tab is already counted as active hour. It’s impossible to make forum for for a leaving except if you are on chipmixer campaign and lives on country with low cost of leaving.

But in general. Most of the people the user that always active here is due to the nature of there job. I once a company worker before and I usually open my forum account on my computer then browse when I have free time.

Have you considered the numbers of hours some people spend on the social media like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp and many others without having something tangible enough to learn or improve one's life with, all they post is a garbage of shits and trolls that makes no meaning to one's present condition, but the forum here is a community and not a place of chats and unserious posts refuse dump, the forum is organized and being professional with the target aim to engage all bitcoin users across the world on a platform whereby their encounter with bitcoin adoption will be at ease, there'll be education and enlightment about bitcoin discussions same here, where we also have varieties of boards and local where you can learn other things and grow which other social media groups doesn't.

I wasn't criticizing, I was merely curious, well, quite curious in fact, to see that there is a forum of such significance and I somehow stumbled on it. But people seem to be dedicating their lives to it. I am sure it would have been interesting for any one

I think there are still many forums that specialize in specific areas and are very active, so even though many claim that this way of communication is less and less attractive, for anyone interested in Bitcoin, this is still much more than an ordinary forum. I say that because this is where it all started, and this is actually where much of the history is found, which also includes all the posts from Satoshi in the early days.

I think that the expression "people seem to be dedicating their lives to it" sounds exaggerated, because I am sure that most of the members spend most of their time in some other places, doing some completely different ordinary things. Of course, there are always members who really spend a lot of time on the forum, but for some this is much more than a forum and that should be understood in some way.

I don't know why it's strange for someone when they see that someone spent hours, days or months on a forum, and it's not strange that people spend hours every day on social networks, watching TV or playing games. In the end, everyone chooses how to spend their time, why should it be someone else's concern.

Do you guys make a living commenting and being here or are you really that passionate about web3/ crypto and blockchain?

Some are passionate about gambling, politics or the forum serves as a place where they offer their services or sell digital or physical products. Everyone has their own reasons and not everything is as it seems at first glance.

Bitcointalk can be addictive especially when you love everything bitcoin and crypto related discussions. I spend much of my time reading posts in various board though I don’t comment much because most times what I want to say has already been said or I really don’t have much technical knowledge on the subject but it is always interesting to read. It’s not a bad habit to have, I rather spend time on an educational platform than on a website where nobody is discussing anything reasonable and everyone is trying to force their opinions on others and

I've seen people spending just as much time on Facebook, without even being incentivized to do so. Or playing games (online or offline). Or on TV.
So it depends from person to person, really. Going out is no longer "the thing" it should be. And if staying in, why not here?

This forum (too) is a very interesting "world", and spending time and being part of the community doesn't look like wasted time.
Of course, getting incentivized to be here and post is an important part/factor. How important, again, depends from person to person and also probably on how big the incentive is (depending on the campaign) and how badly the person needs that money. I would also not underestimate the interest in the actual people in here (online friends made on the forum).

In my case it's (also) both (the interest/passion about Bitcoin and the entire underlying technology and also the incentive) and, I'd say, even more than those two (ie the people).

Most likely as this is the only forum that, in my opinion, incentivizes knowledge or opinion!

But, for those who were truly interested in bitcoin, this provided a venue for quality discussion that no other platform can replicate. Plus, you can find a lot of entertaining dramas among the members here, including how other members defend themselves when they are caught off-guard breaking forum rules.

Now if you ask me, this forum actually serve as my go-to website to create a habit of learning bitcoin on a daily basis while being rewarded except when there are a lot of schoolworks  Grin

Maybe they really just want to? People spend hours and hours using social media everyday. Bitcointalk is slightly similar — it's just that 95% of conversations are concerning Bitcoin/crypto and not some celebrity gossip or something. Bitcoin/crypto is at least far more interesting in my opinion.

Do you guys make a living commenting and being here or are you really that passionate about web3/ crypto and blockchain?
Some people the former, some people the latter. In my case — both.

Hey all,

Although I have been interested and in and out of this forum for a about year now, it is only recently that I decided to get serious and learn and perhaps chat here to get more real insights from people with more experience and knowledge.

But one thing I noticed is that many people spend hours upon hours here, like really long hours, which made me think, like how come?
