My first coin came from mining with a very cheap GPU. Since then got some better GPU's but I still only consider myself a part time miner.

Got it first from mining at Slush's pool. I think I got 0.2 / day and after several days passed I got my first full 1.0 bitcoin.

Bitcoin Faucet, like so many others. And then I mined and mined for about a month until I had maybe BTC0.50 tops... 'cause I was on a Radeon 4550. lol Maybe once you could turn a profit with that much, but I think I wound up donating it all to the EFF before I got out of mining.

I mined it, and got it deposited after about a month of figuring out my igfx wasn't powerful enough to mine effectively. Then I bought a 6870 and now I get one btc every 4 or 5 days in a pool!

My first Bitcoin transaction was 0.001 BTC coming from the Bitcoin faucet hosted on appspot. After that, and for a long time, all I earned came from faucets and free offers. Last December, I found an advertising network that pays in Bitcoins and decided to put up ads on my (previously non-profit) websites, because even if my servers were sponsored I like to have a little money should I need to move a server paid by myself. After that, all the little money I earn came mainly from showing ads on my websites.

I only wish I had discovered this thing of Bitcoin earlier when the mining difficulty was still low... when I started using Bitcoin, getting profit mining with a nVidia graphics card, was already nearly impossible (I got more from faucets in one month than I'd get from mining in the same period of time).

I won a few 50 bitmill freerolls on Seals With Clubs and then played cash games for a while.  Before then, I had nothing but what I first got from the Bitcoin Faucet and then dailybitcoins, while they still gave a whole bitmill.

I got mine off of eBay.  $6.50 or $7 per coin, but I didn't have to wait 30 days for my dwolla account to allow me to send money to MtGox.

Mined it in the slushpool off a $50 craigslist special video card.
The memory of it almost makes me hear dial-up modems.
