I must have heard about Bitcoin in 2010-2011, although I found the idea interesting, I simply followed suit! (How stupid!) At the beginning of 2013 I found an article about Bitcoin and the appreciation that had already occurred since its creation, and how people could mine and obtain some coins. And that's how I entered the world of Bitcoin.
It was a very opportune time and a year after Bitcoin was released by Satoshi on January 3, 2009 and then Bitcointalk was launched on November 22, 2009.
You might be able to buy a lot of Bitcoin back then and forget that you could buy it, LOL.

Even you are talking about mining which will certainly lead to how to earn a lot of Bitcoins easily with a computer or mining device created.

I got to know all this in 2016, it was also quite early even though I had a lot of Bitcoin through this forum and sold it when ATH in late 2017.
But you're very lucky to be at the beginning and know it all.

I am not sure. Knowing me, I probably typed "bitcoin" (like "the fuck is this shit and where can i get sum") on google and google returned this website. It is because of that I joined here in late 2013. Most OG's usually hang on underground news portals like 4chan as OP mentioned so they knew about bitcoin before the crowd. By the time it was on google, the masses started to learn about it. I remember the day when bitcoin crashed to $100 like it happened yesterday. Then it went to $1000. Mt.Gox was huge, btc-e was the second big. poloniex, cryptsy had some serious fans too. All dead now. (is poloniex alive? probably ded)

**In BTC since 2013**
I don't know... it was 10 years ago that I entered the forum for the first time.  Roll Eyes

Probably the result of some Google research to get more information about Bitcoin. What I do know is that I registered as soon as I realized that the forum was the main information center about Bitcoin. This must have happened the first time I entered the forum.

Slava Ukraini!
I already wrote several times how I discovered Bitcointalk. Short answer is Google. In my early Bitcoin days I used faucets to make money and I was looking for faucet lists to maximize my earnings. In this way I got Bitcointalk Micro Earnings board in search results. For some time I was browsing here without account, later made account, but was a bit afraid to post. Later I started posting only on Micro Earnings board and eventually went into other boards. And the rest is history.

The real question is: did you join Bitcointalk before or after you discovered you can earn money from signature campaigns?
Yeah, when I joined Bitcointalk I had no idea what is signature campaign and it a while for me to discover it. In my early months here I saw many posts were people told that you can earn from signature andI thought - WTF is that? Had no idea what is signature campaign,, I thought that it can be someone paying money for signups or signing petition Cheesy. I saw that many members here are wearing colourful signatures, but I couldn't relate it with signature campaign, I thought that people just promote their own projects or affiliate links.

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
Uhmmmm.... y'all mean Theymos didn't know about Bitcoin at the time the forum was created? I'm tryna believe this RN honestly...yeah, I thought he came in the early days but was atleast a part of the creation plan or whatsoever - maybe that's why he was made an ADM? Or maybe it's a plot twist for me.

I actually knew about Bitcoin as a digital currency; it wasn't a broad knowledge as I never knew anything about the technical part of it.. I was referred by a friend and a business partner with the sole purpose of getting to broaden my knowledge.. it was after about 6 months, when I recovered from my prolonged illness that I realized they never knew about sig campaigns at first.

Go after the goal... Go!!! It is worth getting!
To my awareness, this same topic has been discussed more than twice already, and I believe there might be similar topics that have been discussed too, even before I joined the forum.

I heard people mention Bitcoin several times; it did not sound like an important thing to me then. I was skeptical regarding what technology meant until I actually developed an interest and also attended a seminar back in school. Then I invested and also got referred to the forum.

How did you know about Bitcoin? From good news or from bad news?
First time I heartd about bitcooin was back in 2013, while browsing on a popular Croatian forum. It was the late 2013 and bitcoin was in the middle of bull run and when I realized that its possible to make some money via PC (and back in those days I always had a high end gaming PC which was ideal for shitcoin mining) I was hooked. Unfortunately, few months later I had to make a break due real life stuff and I came back few years later.

How did you know about Bitcointalk?
Heard it from a friend back in 2013 but since I was member of that Croatian forum for 10+ years, I didn't really felt need to register here as well. Eventually it became kinda boring over there (during previous bear market) so I decided to check whats going on bitcointalk and here I am ever since.

  • How did you know about Bitcoin? From good news or from bad news?
I'm not sure if it'd fall into either of these categories, but to answer your question, the first time that I read about it was on a gaming-related Facebook group that mentioned you can use your GPUs to earn something [I don't think it even had a concrete proof at the time].

  • How did you know about Bitcointalk?
I stumbled upon a blog that described Bitcointalk as one of the best places to promote faucet rotators.

Basically, I see my uncle always on his laptop all the time so when I look at the interface of the sites he normally browse I found out that it always talks about Bitcoins and cryptocurrency and he's always serious about it every time and he doesn't like distractions whenever he's on his system so I started making research about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency on Google and YouTube then I further enquired if there was any platform that discussed about cryptocurrency more especially Bitcoin and I was referred to Bitcointalk.org that was how I started navigating through the forum without being registered and I found information I got here very interesting and educating more especially in the Bitcoin discussion board, beginner & help and Meta then i developed interest to register and start giving my own Opinion on people's threads after which i also started creating threads as well and i was excited when i found out that my country had a local board where discussion about the forum are being brought closer to individuals of my country in this bitcointalk forum. I must say that since I joined this forum, it has really been an experience any crypto enthusiasts will want to have. Kudos to the administrators, moderators and all other protocols that has made this forum convenient for all are duly observed.

I came to the forum completely by accident. I was busy for several years on another forum, completely far from cryptocurrencies. Every day, for about three years, I visited that forum, and one day I could not access it because, for reasons unknown, the forum was not working. This lasted for five days. However, during this time, I managed to see a video on YouTube about this forum and moved to this forum.
I learned about Bitcoin a long time ago, but I was also not interested in it since I was paid on the Internet with other digital money. I will say more: I was offered payment in bitcoins, but since I did not understand it, I did not take such a proposal into account.
Once on the forum, I was united by the desire to learn about Bitcoin and the entire climate of the forum, after which all other places became uninteresting to me.

As far as I remembered, I was searching in the youtube for online earning. I wasted times for doing airdrop and then at last someone refer me Bitcointalk (bounty). One other friends in the telegram recommend me local board so I started from posting in the local board. Time went by so fast and I didn't even realize that how my account ranked up from newbie to Hero. Indeed the person who helped me is now inactive but I am thankful to him for introducing a best learning place.

  • How did you know about Bitcointalk?
My straight forward answer is that I learnt about Bitcoin from Bitcointalk forum. I'm not sure if anyone else has learnt about Bitcoin by joining this forum but I'm the one who learnt about Bitcoin and crypto-currencies from this forum. Basically I was searching for ways to sell some digital goods and when I made a Google search I got a thread in this forum. I was not aware about Bitcoin or crypto-currencies but once I started reading some threads in this forum and then started reading some books I learned that what Bitcoin is and why it was created.

I'm very thankful to that guy who posted that digital goods thread on this forum because of that thread my life changed. This forum and Bitcoin has given me a lot in my life and I'm very thankful to Bitcoin and to this forum. I was basically active on digital goods board in start but overtime I started browsing various boards of the forum. Now, I rarely visit the digital good board but it was my pathway to learn about Bitcoin and this forum.

The first time I heard about Bitcoin was in 2011 on an NPR podcast I used to listen to. They didn't do a great job of describing what it was, but the hosts did a test investment and saw their investment rise over 100% in a few months. It sounded like real nerd money. Was not something I was interested in at the time.

Then I heard Andreas Antonopoulos talking about it on the Joe Rogan Experience a few years later. The way he explained it, it sounded like it was going to be the next big thing and revolutionize money. And indeed it was, and it did. I bought my first BTC in early 2014, unaware of what was happening at MtGOX. I didn't understand what you were supposed to do with it as it wasn't really accepted for anything anywhere, and it was getting boring just watching the value go down.

That's when I discovered altcoins, and then I found this forum. My first questions on the forum were all about altcoins. Super glad to have discovered Counterparty back in those first few months. Since then, Bitcoin has transformed my life. While somewhat scary being detached from the old ways, Bitcoin offers a great deal of freedom over the traditional financial system, and I have completely embraced it.

Now, two questions for you.
  • How did you know about Bitcoin? From good news or from bad news?
  • How did you know about Bitcointalk?
    • Previously, I thought of a discussion about the first question but later I thought about the second question and it's possible to combine them in one topic. Then I decided to make this thread in Meta than in Bitcoin Discussion board.
Knowing Bitcoin and Bitcointalk has been a good experience for me, and if you ask questions about the two as you contemplated, you are still fine with them. They are such lovely experiences that people can recount over and over again. Smiley

First, I have been in the world of investment and trading for about 2 decades, so to know Bitcoin was very easy. I don't think it would be more than 3 years of introducing it that I know about it but I never gave it a thought to buy and keep it. However, it got to a point where I was regularly using it for payments and even trading it on the regular brokers, but never owned my coin until I joined BTCt.

As for the Bitcointalk itself, my brother introduced it to me. He did that almost about 4 years ago but I never gave it much thought. I just viewed its review on YouTube, and then, when I was searching about it, I only saw just two posts there. The one with a somewhat detailed review was just saying how people were sentimental here, which made me abandon the forum for about 2 years. This happened until my brother encouraged me to open it again, which I eventually did last year.

Now, two questions for you.
  • How did you know about Bitcoin? From good news or from bad news?
I actually know about Bitcoin from good news, and my perception of knowing about it was because of the good things I heard about it investment-wise, even though there were misinterpretations, and because the person I heard about it from did not actually have good knowledge about Bitcoin itself but was guiding me towards airdrops, which is how I got to know the Bitcointalk forum.

I found this forum when looking for airdrops to join in exchange for a few little coins and some usdt. I discovered about this fantastic community since the airdrop I was introduced to required me to be a registered member of Bitcointalk in order for me to participate.[/list]

I think I first came across the term Bitcoin from an IT magazine I used to read.  There were these mixed messages. Like some stories talked it up as this total gamechanger for finance.  But then others focused on how volatile it was, and the risks tied up with it.  Kinda typical media stuff - building something up just to tear it down again.

Anyway, I wanted to dig deeper into this Bitcoin thing so I Googled around and  stumbled on Bitcointalk as one of the bigger forums on it.  Lotta hype and arguing from what I saw but there was some decent info in there too.  Felt like an online version of those magazine stories - some believers yelling about revolution, others yelling about scams, your usual Internet drama.  But it got me reading and learning more at least.  Wink

  • How did you know about Bitcoin? From good news or from bad news?
I know Bitcoin from YouTube but nah, it is not from that good news Cry Unfortunately, I heard about Bitcoin coins from YouTubers who spread FUD about Bitcoin without knowing it properly. I probably first heard about Bitcoin from YouTubers in my local language and naturally, initially based on their description, I thought Bitcoin was something illegal that was only used by hackers and bad people. • How did you know about Bitcointalk?
No, I didn't know about Bitcoin talk forum on any other forum or website, I get to know about Bitcointalk forum mainly from one of my friends. I would like to thank that friend of mine from the bottom of my heart for introducing me to the bitcointalk forum otherwise, it might have taken me a long time to clear my misconceptions about Bitcoin. The interesting thing though is that before I got to know Bitcoin and Bitcointalk, I got to know TRX coin and made a small investment there.

All the answers are on Bitcointalk.
The first time I was able to get to know Bitcoin was because my friend who joined first on Bitcointalk was able to get a lot of Bitcoin,
up to dozens of Bitcoins at that time around 2015-2016.
I joined the forum in April 2016, and it opened my eyes to Bitcoin as a decentralized digital currency that is very different from other currencies.

As time went by and became active on Bitcointalk, it was also at that time that I started to learn Bitcoin and how Bitcoin works.
As well as participating in various bounty and airdrop campaigns that reward BTC.
Collecting 5 BTC in 2016 seems very easy, and of course the price at that time is also cheaper.
